When I first started watching your journey, I didn't think it was possible for anyone to have the commitment, skills, time, resources, patience to fix this boat. Your family proved me wrong. Thank you for bringing us on the journey so far. You are incredible.
You should have a look at Sailing Parlay, they did the exact same thing with a hurricane damaged Catamaran. Basically, these people do amazing jobs restoring these boats, including this family of amazing humans. The Sailing community are a hardy bunch of heroes.
I can not stop thinking it would have been cheaper to buy used NOT wrecked boat. All that repair supplies, yard costs, hours of labor etc. What was cost of wrecked boat? repairs? Huge amount of respect that yall got thru that!
Reliving the process with you, warms my heart. Who'd thought? That wreck of a boat became Dauntless the beauty. Please accept my utmost respect and admiration of your family. I love watching your videos and living vicariously through you. Congratulations on a superb accomplishment.
There is something about buying something broke/discarded out to the trash, repairing it, putting your blood sweet and tears and making it yours. Almost like it’s a piece of you now. There is no better feeling than that in my opinion . I think you all did an awesome job. It’s a work of art now!!!
This is a great time for me to watch your recap. My moto, has become your words and I speak those words to myself many times a day. I will die with memories, and live dauntless. Two things must change: 1. I gave up my dream of sailing as a teen convinced that my advisors were correct, that your lifestyle was for wealthy people. Never mind all the examples of average, even poor people living that life. 2, I performed in Heavy Blues bands and had an average run that was everything to me. I am talented, but that was never the issue. After tragedies, and trials, I walked away with my fears for a safe life and I dreamed. Since I discovered your channel and others like it, I've been inspired to chase the dream of sailing again, even at my age. But the other dream is closer to fruit. I am returning to the music stage after almost two decades. My only barrier has been fear. Two weeks ago I left my dream behind walked on a stage and SANG Dauntless. There was nothing in my head but the performance. It would look like a tiny step to those who saw, just singing other peoples songs as if i did that every day. To me it was everything. Now onward with now small thanks to your family, and your words.
"We Bought A Boat" was the very first video I watched on sailing Dauntless. I quickly became hooked. I've watched every video since. You guys have quickly became one of my favorite boating channels. I look forward to where your journey takes you, and as always, living dauntless.😀
It's been a pleasure watching this past year all of your accomplishments with this boat. After a couple of tough years for all of us, that begs the question of sanity for our USA and the world, it's been a pleasure to follow a family and their work, that restores faith in our people and country. That's what your journey has meant to me... I'm just one gal, but it's been profound and a joy... My husband and I are in Sint Maarten on Leopard 48, One Love. If you ever see us please stop by for a visit... I'm not a weirdo, but I might cry a little! Xoxo Lindi and Randy
Wow, how has it been a year already?! I started following you guys as you started fixing her up. You have come so far, brought so much inspiration, and it's been great to tag along ❤
I will say that I enjoyed watching all the fiberglass repair work but I know that you hated all the sanding. Thanks for taking the time to document all of this hard work so that we could follow along with you. It is odd how in many ways we know each of you as if you were part of our own family. We sent prayers when you were all sick. Laughed with you when you celebrated your sucesses and cringed when you discovered the corroded sail drives. Thanks again for allowing us to be a part of all of this be it small.
I love all of you so much for this video, just being able to relive all the great memories truly made me cry. You have an amazing family and I hope every single dream you have comes true. Keep making those memories and I will watch them no mater what they are.
Well done Mum and Dad, Top Job Syd for sticking in their and helping them both, lost of kids wouldn't have. life just like a piggy bank one only gets outa it what one puts in. the 50 is a work of Art. U guys made that happen.
Was so good to see it again I had forgot what a Epic Job she was to Repair and how you dealt with Problems along the way Thank you I really think she is a Great Looking Catamaran Thank you all awesome Vlog
You embarked a on risky adventure and you pulled it off. I hope it's made you closer as a family and I wish you all the very best for your future. Well done.
Thank you ssoooo much for sharing your experience with you're repairs. I have just purchased a sailboat in Miami, that needs a TON-O-WORK but not near as much as ya'll had. You are an inspiration.
When the parts were being made for the repairs I have to admit I got a bit lost with how it was going to come together. I was stunned with the outcome of putting the puzzle pieces into place to fix the damage. An unbelievable process and an awesome result. Love the boat, the process, you guys. Thank you for sharing this journey. 😀💕😀
I made the comment that you all are "totally crazy" for starting this cat....I still think that is true but what a beautiful job of completion!!! Many THUMBS UP!!
Amazing job coming together as a family and knocking that restoration out!! Wish I had the skills and funds to do something like this with my family and especially the enjoyment to follow!!
I just found your channel and I cringed when I saw the boat just like you guys kind of did. But oh my goodness what a beautiful vessel she is shaping up to be again. You should be very proud of the work you have done and it shows all that hard work pays for a lot of great memories and experiences of a job well done. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the videos that you have released. Congratulations on your stunning transformation and looking forward to seeing the interior refit.
What a stunning job you guys did! Congratulations. You can be proud of your achievements. And isn't she just the most beautiful yacht? Proudly South African!
Amazing video, amazing vision, amazing determination, amazing execution and amazing family!!!! These are the type of people that built our country, true pioneers, blazing their own trail. Failure to some is opportunity for others. I have joined your wagon train!!! West !!!! you say 😊
i love to live near the sea and have my own catamaran..everyday i can go fishing..it feel free and relax..hope someday the dream will come true..enjoy your life..☺☺
It's funny how I had forgotten how excited I was for each accomplishment in the process, especially seeing the large pieces go on! You have come so far and worked so very hard!!!
I've been watching you folks for quite a while now, and when I first saw this "submarine" I did wonder if you had been into the sherry bottle! But, the attitude of the whole family had me very confident you just might pull this crazy stunt off. Boy, did you ever! Well done. If you ever get to Western Australia I would love to meet you. All the best with your adventures to come. Pete
Watched everyone of those vids building up to today. Great to see it again. I said previously the 45 turned out so top self!!! Which I know the factory has been following. 😎 Your own 50??? This is going to be awesome. Let's get it done!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
What an amazing journey, experience and Family❣️ Thanks for sharing your story, it's incredible what you have to accomplished together, and the resultant finishes. You are all an inspiration to other like-minded humans. I am originally from Cape Town and Robertson and Caine’s factory was near my business. Great company and product. (My dream yacht = Leopard 58)...."maybe one day🤗 " Good luck with your next chapters, and Cheers to you all from Port Elizabeth, South Africa 🍻🌈
Wonderful that you did this catch-up for your new followers. Looking forward to the rest of the work to make the Leopard 50 your sailing home. Wonderful to meet you & have time to get to know you in Annapolis at the boat show last week. Angus hanging with the Catalpa crew.
Wow, just seen this, awesome job. I saw the damage and thought.. holy crap.. that’s some damage but be proud of your justifiable effort and incredible family commitments to creating a fabulous repair. Many many happy sailing knots where ever the sun you chase is..
That was a very interesting recap of the challenges and a very little taste of the work it took to get your L50 into the water for the first time. I’ve been watching the progress since you first found the boat and up to the point that you put the L45 up for sale and have been totally impressed with all your work ethics and determination to get the job done, whatever it took. Congratulations on getting where you are today and I’m looking forward to watching you finish the rest of the refit on the L50 so you get back to living on the water. In case you hadn’t seen the videos, you may wish to stay away from the coast of Portugal and Spain as there are several Orca’s that, for some unknown reason, love to attack boat rudders and have damaged several over the past year.
You guys did such a fantastic job!!! I saw a bloke in St Martin patching something similar and thought, far out, thats a lot of work!!! It was nothing as precise and professional as this, this is impressive!!
Holy cow! I've watched all these episode but seeing this review really puts it together. So much work but she looks just perfect! Can't wait to see her under sail. So great to run into you aon the street at the boat show! What a treat and you advice about insurance was so helpful and really turned our day around. You are just the best! F
You guys are crazy and amazing! Such a daunting job. Anyone would have to be crazy to do this themselves. That’s what I thought when I first laid eyes on that hull. Congratulations!
