yuh, figured out this depends on a lot of factors to work in this game, still te genius is in the mechanical simplicity of the principles, this on a plausible scenario such as The Expanse novels, would be a super cost-effective way of inmobilizing ships by the sheer fear of sharpnel and other debris just shredding everything if you try to fly away fast enough
@gers.g.5707 there are sort of 3 counters that make a shrapnel ram not as effective. 1. The smaller ships tend to be better, as they can simply out flank a cruiser and through attrition. 2. Larger ships might also compartmentalize a ton with blast doors which degrades this effect a lot. This is a crazy thing to do in most cases, and just turns you into an easy to hit whale. 3. Another counter is thin ships. If a cruiser impales straight through, it means that I've destroyed plenty of armor, but my shrapnel will mostly go straight through. My goal is implanting internal shrapnel, not destroying armor. Tl;dr shrapnel rams are fantastic at dreadnought hunting, and depending on your economics (steel costs), might be the most efficient method of punching up, I've put a ton of testing and thought into ramming tech lmk what you use it for!

space engineers-wise great video, took notes, can't wait to put some of this ideas to test
