I upgraded to 50//34 Tiagra 11:-36T cassette. My Marlin 5 was a 40T and I wanted more top end speed and easier climbing. Also the stock saddle was upgraded to a Selle Royal Gel Saddle. The stock saddle was rock hard.

@@dkorzhevin yes absolutely, a light gravel path or trail this bike is great. I use this bike at my local gravel path dog park that has wooden bridges and things. It’s the perfect bike for it.
@@RiverAnglin Thank you! I was told, that I will be able to put Bontrager H2 Comp Hybrid Tire (700C x 40mm) in case I will need to ride more on gravel/moderate trails..
You know I was gonna say I think they are “promax branded brakes not shimano ” but treks website website says they are shimano so I wasn’t sure. Thanks for the comment!
My disk breaks 🥲 how do i tune 😭 my fx3, feels so maroon. I give up on the poem or whatever but my fx3 has some sort of Shimano disk breaks and one of the break pads is fully contacting the disc and im struggling to figure out how to adjust it. Man i just want to ride my bike and google isn’t helpful anymore 😭.
I have a question about the bars. I’m considering an FX 3 and I’m wondering if you’re able to raise the bar height on bars? I test rode one and liked it but think if the bars were a few inches higher id be better off. Thanks.
I think you may be able to adjust the height of the handlebars you may have to use spacers to raise it higher though. The fx is the perfect blend of road/comfort. At first the bent over position may not seem comfortable but over long hard rides it actually helps.
@@gk5891 Hey there. I did test out the Verve 3 as well. I ended up going with the dual sport 3 gen 5. Handle bar position seems to be somewhere between the Verve and the FX. I pick it up tomorrow. I have 30 days to decide. Thanks.
@@zowenso personally I did not like the dual sport models I tried. Which I am primarily a road cyclist so. The gearing just felt wrong and it was just uncomfortable to me. Hope you enjoy it thought everyone has a different preference ya know
Bought this and at far I'm hating the hand grips. My wrists are hurting because of the grips pushing against the heel of my palms. I adjusted them today hoping that'll fix the issue and raising the handle bars. If that doesn't fix it then I'll change the grips. I don't like how the grips are molded. Normal grips are better. These pushing into the heel of your palm forcing more pressure on wrists. Not a fan but like the rest of the bike so far. If I can't fix the grips then I'll sell it.
Hello, great video! Really appreciate the in-depth analysis. Quick question though, with absolutely all due respect, how much do you weigh and does it hinder the riding experience? I am 275lb and I am a little scared to get this bike as it has a weight limit of 300lbs. Thank you so much!
I weigh around 300 pounds. This bike absolutely can handle my weight and a pack. I would say 300 is their low estimate. Honestly, the bike is solid I’ve put about 500 miles in since I bought it with no issues, hope this helps!
@@ag-mv6ghya know truly the best options is to have a mtb, a full road bike, and something like the fx 3. However if you gotta get one bike I think the fx 3 is the way to go to do about anything you need except some strictly mountain bike trails.
I briefly had this exact bike last summer. It was very comfortable and fun to ride. However, the 1x crank drove me nuts due to a low high speed in top gear, as well as the gear ratios themselves being spread out on the the higher gears. I traded it after a few weeks. I'm not sure why manufacturers even offer 1x cranks on sporty bikes.
The reason I personally prefer the 1x is it’s less complicated and I bike a lot with my dog, so I wanted something I could ride one handed easier. It is pretty slow in low gear but I personally think it’s just right for me.
I bought one in 2022. Later I changed the hub, front & rear, as well as the usual pedal, saddle & raised bar. Always ride the FX 3 until now
Nice video! Cool to see the FX3. I have the FX2 and it's great!

I stuck a Selle Royal gel saddle on my FX1 as well. Game changer.

I have the 23 version....changed the tires, bars and added a 42 tooth chainring....still looking to go up to a 44 tooth chainring.
I got the Trek Dual Sport 2 gen 5 (what a name) but any in the dual sport are great too but the hybrid leans more mtb. than road.
Felt Verza Speed 20 Supernova.
I've seen them going for $800.
Not bad for Tiagra.
Could you please tell, from your experience - can it be ridden on forest trails (without rocks or any jumps)?

Is this review for an FX3 that was manufactured in 2024? Is it different from those manufactured in 2023?
I don’t think so honestly but mine was brand new so I just said ‘24. There is now a new FX model for 2024 so I may be incorrect now to say 24 model.

Have you considered the Verve 3 instead? It's more comfort oriented.
That said bars with more rise and sweep are readily available.

Does that bike have a front derailer? What does "one by" mean?
@@comounaverdura the FX 3 is a 1x10 speed meaning no front derailer, 1 chain ring and 10 gears

Because front derailleurs are terrible. You could have changed the chainwheel or crankset but I agree it the chainwheel does look small.
