thank you for the great video. just to get you a heads up on this GE microwave you would have seen that only the last screw all the way in the left was the only one that needed to be removed The other three weren't in the way so you know next time just remove the last one.
Surprisingly repairable. The real issue is what was it on the control board that failed. Often it’s a capacitor that has failed. Easy to replace if you have soldering skills and can identify failed capacitors. Other than a manufacturing defect, there isn’t much a consumer can do to abuse the control panel.
I have a similar GE Profile, except its freestanding. Over the 12 years or so I've had to replace door switches, and the magnetron. You're right- parts available and fairly straight forward info out there. Now fixing circuiit boards at the component level? I've got 100% record. 100 percent of the time I need to buy a new board after trying to de-solder and replace.
@@AllanKobelansky That's very true Allan, I dont know if I threw away that board. Im going to troubleshoot that capacitor and try to replace it, just for fun. Thank you so much.
@@alexthehandyman3494 take a hi res picture of the board. If you’d like a pair of experienced eyes. Otherwise, look for bulging capacitors. Look for any burn marks on the board. Good luck.
Thanks for this video. I just did the swap on our microwave so it helped a lot.
Im so glad. thanks

@@Samlol23_drrich very funny comment. I’m more comfortable with a soldering iron than a screw driver. Then again, I’m an EE and not an ME.
