This is great, thank you so much for posting this! Very helpful and was easy to follow. My microwave suddenly stopped working altogether one day. I just replaced the circuit board and it still doesn't work - nothing at all. Any idea what else could be the issue if not the circuit board?
I have a question. What if the light for the digital display is what is going dim? Is that the control panel? Or is that a separate bulb behind the control panel?
The Painters accidentally pulled too hard on my GE Mongram Microwave Control panel and the whole thing pulled off! It looks like it's held on by double faced tape. My concern is the big square button... Will that fly apart if I remove the control panel from the front? It looks like it's held on by a couple of tabs at the bottom plus the tape and would lift up and off but I'm concerned if I remove it, I wont be able to get it back on without taking the whole thing apart. Can you tell me if the Control panels with the built in big square buttons can be removed and replaced from the front of the unit?
Probably a build up of carbon oxide on the ribbon cable. I have repaired many microwaves and oven control panels by removing the ribbon, and cleaning the end of ribbon where it plugs into the connector on the circuit board.. even use some electronic cleaner in the connector as well.
Wow this actually worked and saved me from having to buy a new keypad. I know others have said to clean the connector but wedging a tiny piece a paper in between that ribbon cable and where it actually connects is what did it for me. Do you have venmo or cashapp? I definitely owe you one. 👍
it'll work for a while till it doesn't. reason is grease build-up between the 3 plastic layers of the control panel. you can buy a new control panel but on my model the panel was $144 i could just buy a new microwave. take all the parts off use the magnetron to build me a EMP (for education purposes) there's a DIY video on that
my GE miro JVM1540SN1SS............hey quick question- so the fix u have works great, but every so often it still happens, ...question is.... if i order a replacement part. so i get the GE WB27X10871 Smart Board, and if i do will that solve problem, or do i need the Assy-Control Panel Part Number: WB56X10826 ? since the control panel has the buttons?
Hi Dustin, I replaced only the control panel and used my existing board. If you did that and continue to have problems, I would try the board next. I have been using the microwave for 4-1/2 years since replacing the control panel and have not had any other issues. Hope this helps.
Barry Burke 1 week ago My GE Profile Microwave worked for about 5-7 seconds then shut off. Further exam revealed burning/sparking in HV Inverter/Transformer. Digital continuity checked OK for all door switches, primary thermostat, shut off fuse, etc. Replaced Transformer with new part. Everything worked fine except 'No Microwave Heating'. Next, replaced Magnetron and Relay Switch on the circuit board. Everything worked fine except 'No Microwave Heating'. Magnetron humming seems normal! Cleaned mica wave board inside of unit, no sparking here. Can anyone advise what the problem may be. Again, everything worked fine including settings for time, power levels, clock, etc. when started up except 'No Microwave Heating'. Last resort before dropping out to the curb for the landfill! Any ideas greatly appreciated! HELP! Show less Reply Read more

Great instructions - solved my problem!
Glad it helped!
You are the only one who explained the hidden screw on the right! Thank you!
Boom, thank you! 30 minutes from "Dad the microwave's broken" to "microwave is fixed". Just a loose cable in the touch panel.
Great!

Thank you for this!
You’re welcome!
thanks for video. I just disconnected ribbon cable. Wiped it with cotton swab with alcohol. Then reseated it. So far microwave working again.
Great to hear!

It is the ribbon cable. Slide a piece of paper between the folds of the cable where they are touching each other. Super easy. Super fast. Cheers!
can you explain what you are talking about? slide paper where?

I agree. It will work for a while, but the problem will eventually be repeated.

How did you arrive at the conclusion it was the button panel itself and not a problem with the board? Good Vid. :)
Is the 'light' on the clock/timer an LED?
thank you !!!
You're welcome!
I did replace mine with a new panel but it’s shows please press clock . I can’t do anything. It’s stuck there

The hidden screw is stuck. I tried everything. I am so frustrated. Don’t know what to do to open this screw.
Thanks for the video.
It was around $80.
Thanks Dan. Someone on Amazon is selling now for $125
what is cost for that panel?
It was about $80 when I did it, but another person made a comment that it was around $125. The price can vary.
Where u order panel
of course i have them model that needs to be droped down to remove the panel😣 all the others just pop off
Sorry to hear that.
The vent on top has to be free so the air can come out
So you don't change the circuit board, only the front panel?
Correct, you change the entire panel.
they do not sell touchpad without controller, and it between 141-185 bucks buy a new microwave for that price
i'm getting a message that "Keypad Shorted, service may be needed"
Wht u push to read codes?
