    H/H match update:
    ...
The returning champion scored a $2500 match with Richard yesterday (after taking Brett's suggested answer). He gets another shot at $2500 today (after taking Charles' suggestion), and decides to go for... Richard again. (Well, they did match yesterday, so who can blame him for sticking with a winner?)
    Today's question: "Cup ______ "
Harder today. Too many possibilities. Cup of coffee? Cup of tea? Cup of sugar? Or, going a different direction, Cup holder? (Were those even a thing back then? I can't remember!) Cup runneth over? Time's running out. I'll just say cup of coffee... (But wait, Richard is British, so maybe tea? No...)
Richard looked pensive for a brief moment then seemed to write a longish answer.
Our tall, dashing contestant apparently had a brain freeze. "All I could think of was cup hook."
The audience booed vociferously, and Gene jokingly gave him the "hook" by dragging him off the stage.
Well, I'm pretty sure that "hook" was one response that never crossed Richard's mind, but let's see...
"Cup and saucer." Hmm. It sounds reasonable, but I feel like my answer is a bit more obvious, more frequently said.
(Scoey's after-the-fact suggestion of cupcake is super obvious now that I hear it!)
    No match today.
Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts).
TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts).
    Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts).
    Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts).
Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Richard - 39.3% (125 wins in 318 attempts).
    Brett - 38.0% (19 wins in 50 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
*These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 577, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

Marcos Portes yes, the way a lot of games shows are filmed, especially daily game shows like Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, is that they film a bunch of episodes each day for two days over a weekend. Match game used this method of filming where they would shoot say multiple episodes per day over a two day weekend. They would repeat this over a number of weekends until they had all the episodes needed for the season. They nature of games show means they film them into real time without reshoots, thus a weeks worth of episodes (7 Episodes) can be filmed in as little as about 2 1/2 hours though some shows require more prep between the filming of each show.

Every two weeks but being CBS they did this all year around. When the show went into synd they only shot for 35 weeks of shows, still every 2 week, even thou Gene was now living in LA for half of the year, and had the rest of the year off to do other things.

16:17 (before and after, but I wanted to highlight CNR's choreography) Many of us who love the show have a Pavlovian happy reaction to that insipid bass line, although I will admit it can get annoying after a while, but a long while-many episodes into a binge.

    • @MikeSebastianVideos

Scoey was born in New York; he didn’t know any more about cannibals than anyone else on the panel. I’m sure he didn’t like the insinuation, and I can’t blame him.

Can you LEAVE ME ALONE. This is harrassment on a game show. I'm allowed to leave comments like everyone else. I'm allowed to have a first favourite star in Brett Somers like many people do actually LOVE her just back off and get a life. This is being a bully and a nasty piece of work. I see your account and your nasty pathetic little comments are ALL at me. This needs to stop. If you continue this you don't know how to read and there's something seriously wrong with you that you need to go and seek mental help. Pathetic little sad person you are. Such a shame I can't block you for good.

    • @kevansf
      @kevansf Рік тому +3

It took me a while, but I think he must have been thinking of a hook on a rack or on the wall in a kitchen or office where you hang your coffee cup. Agreed that "bulletproof vest" has got to be the definitive answer for that firing squad joke. I also thought of "camouflage."
