I would recommend covering adding sounds for the switches (Angle Mode / Acro Mode) or (Rate Profile 1). it makes the switches fool proof and also warns you if you pull it out of a bag and a switch is off and you don't realize it, on power on it tells you everything.
You can also check out the angle feedforward set at 150 or 200,because it's default is 50...type in cli set angle_feedforward = 200...then the angle mode rates will be responsive
Great intro to adjustments tab^. I won't be doing a custom rate profile for angle; I bet there will be an option to revert back 'previous angle rate' or something like that in the CLI at some point. But I can already think of a million things Adjustments could be used for now 🤙
Hmm, unless something has changed, I think yaw does use an actual rate, so putting zero wouldn’t be a good idea. Granted, I haven’t played with 4.5 to confirm any of these “improvements”. Do a quicksilver tutorial! Lots of whoop racers use it, super simple to setup, and its less buggy than the latest BF variants, angle mode rocks in Quicksilver and with no airmode you can bounce off gates better.
I don’t know what they were thinking. The ideal expo curve for acro mode will never be that same as for angle mode. I already have a selection of rates for different situations. I would have to settle on just one rate to use this work around. Would prefer an option to just turn off their behavior or just have one expo curve for angle separate from the other rates.
This might explain what I am feeling with my GEPRC Cinebot 25 running 4.5 and my Pavo20 running 4.4. The Cinebot with similar rate profiles drove like it was on ice in angle mode. It took HUGE stick deflections to get it to respond. Where the Pavo running 4.4 I need the tiniest of tiny movements and the rates are almost tuned as low as they will go. I feel the Cinebot I have a range of useful adjustment. My rates are so much higher that the pavo. I am still getting sorted but at least I feel I can make it too slow or too fast changing rates.

Not sure why but Angle mode in my case Betaflight 4.5 was so bad on my F411 2.5 inch whoop that I had to fhash back after second fight , but same version on Mamba 405 freestyle 5 inch was working just fine.

Yes I do think you could do that, it would just take a little more tweaking with custom programming in the radio to make the aux channel move as requested. But either way, you're only getting three rate profiles.

I think the BF devs overstepped here, they need to implement a dedicated rate box for ANGLE mode - or at least enable a CLI command to disable rates on ANGLE. How about while in ACRO on switch A you can have rateprofiles 1-3 on switch B as usual, but when switch A goes to ANGLE, ignore switch B and set "rateprofile 4" by default, which would then be a profile just for ANGLE mode. Maybe you could try that in a video ?

Angle strength still does exactly what it always did. The Angle PID loop uses angle strength as a P gain for tracking the commanded angle. The only thing that 4.5 changed is that the relation between commanded angle and stick deflection is not linear any more.
@@JoshuaBardwell angle_feedforward is also new and makes a massive difference. In previous betaflights, you hade to set P gain, which would be too low for snappy response (full left to right would take like a second!) or too high and cause oscillations. Or usually both at once, oscillations and still slow. Now its snappy and crisp like in acro mode.
What a pain in the ass why would you assume that someone would want there acro rate curve to apply to angle mode. Its a big problem for me and will mean I wont bother with at32 flight controllers and stick to Betaflight 4.4 I love Betaflight but sometimes there are decisions like this that really are bone headed tbh.
Whoop pilots, beginners, and me - on a quick switch, so I can: (1) When my video dies I can switch to angle, pull my goggles up and fly back LOS. I'm not very good with acro LOS, especially when the drone is a way off. (2) When I crash into a tree branch, spin and lose what orientation I'm in, it can get me back to level and then if I'm still in the air, I return to acro.
It is like you spent 20 years driving a gas ⛽️ car and you try a Tesla with a different pedal and steering system and you just don’t particularly like it. Then the tipping point is the blinkers get stuck and don’t disengage after you make a turn or lane change. So you don’t buy one. #betaflight

Personally I'm using 4.5 RC2 but it does have a couple small bugs that you might care about it.
