For a family $100 per person per month can get expensive. You can apply for permanent residency as a tourist at $100 per month after a year? Do you really need all the documents for permanent residency after one year and have them apostilled? What income tax statement do they need? Can the tourist for a year open a bank account and have other legal status?

Good question, I think it really depends on what your priorities are as a parent in my opinion. I think that it is a much simpler pace of life and a lot of this kids can really connect with the nature of the island as opposed to an ipad. There definitely are other challenges but overall I think my answer to that would be yes

If you cannot afford to start a business and you are currently in the U.S look at getting hired to teach English online that way you get paid by a U.S company in U.S dollars, of course stable internet is required once you move to Belize. This is how many people are surviving while living abroad.
