Mr Marais is absolutely completely right. The truth is racism is a problem in this nation but not from the minority. The issue of racism is strong with the majority and going independent will ensure that the Western Cape doesn't let itself be dragged down with the rest of South Africa.

I think more governing power should be given to each province and federal power should be limited more. A more US apporach to governamnce where each province is given much greater self-determination I think would benefit all the provinces, not just Westwrn Cape.
Agree and put up a border patrol to check for illegal goods eg. Drugs; weapons; etc. Their municipal funds are also used for some municipalities in KZN.

Divide and Rule: In Azania Cape Province wants independence, in Nigeria Biafra wants independence, in DRC Congo external forces will like to curve out Eastern Congo, Cameroon will like to divide English speaking and French speaking. Does Marais know that the term Khoi and San were given to the black tribes by rhe white coloniser? Does he know that the coloniser called all black people who owned cattle Khoi and that he called those without cattle San? Does he know that the state of owning and not owning cattle fluctuates and that it was in fact one and the same group in the eyes of the coloniser but infact it was many different tribes who intermixed such as the NAMA, Xu, Xhosa, to name a few. Someone needs to send Mr Marais to an iron age archaeologist who will be more than happy to enlighten him on the subject.

This history has a few inaccuracies
Peter Marais is proposing this claim on behalf of Khoisan. which he claims are original people of the Western Cape, yet himself is a product of coloured who seeks to preserve Afrikaans an Afrikaaaner language which has nothing to do with the culture and language of Khoisans preservation.
One is not sure whether he is doing this out of ignorance or just to gain votes from Western voters.
This same proposal of independent western cape was initially made by the racist DA now they are steering this puppet to run with this matter.
Coloureds in the Western Cape need to understand that they are a product of Africans from the same Jan Van Riebeeck who settled and rape Africans in the Western Cape in 1652.
Some Coloureds in the Western Cape have been grossly indocrinated to hate Africans by the very same Afrikaaaners who forced them to speak Afrikaans.
They tried to do the same by forcing Africans to speak Afrikaans in 1976 but failed dismally.
Today Coloureds woke up speaking Afrikaans and don't even realize the history behind that language.
Peter Marais, Khoisans were Africans who resided in Africa (FYI) where the Western Cape is and always has been.
This whole segment/interview with Mr Marais boils down to asking himself as a coloured man, what he would do if he did not acknowledge that he is an African. One can tell Mr Marais suffers from identity crisis. Well, there are a lot of your kind in America however this is Africa, Jan Van Riebeeck did not carry the whole city with him to the Western Cape,he brought a seed which he failed to nature.
As an ignorant coloured man Mr Marais aught to take good historic lessons from Patricia Delille (ID political party).
A coloured person isn't just a product of African and European we also have Asian DNA. No one is forcing us to speak Afrikaans or taught it to us. It's part of our culture. If you look at the amount of Malay words that are in Afrikaans.
Also I agree with Peter's history buy beside even that. The majority of black people vote for the ANC and the ANC doesn't wants us colours in the rest of the country due to their new race quotas. And if more the 40% of the vote goes to the ANC then they also don't want us in the rest of the country so why can't we have our own place?

In Cape town we have always chosen to live in different areas, English areas, Afrikaans areas, Muslim areas, coloured areas, Jewish area's, mixed area's ect..we live near the people and cultures we enjoy. We send our English kids to English schools, Afrikaans kids go to Afrikaans schools, Germain kids to Germain schools, Muslim kids to Muslim schools, Catholic kids to Catholic schools etc... We mingle if we want to not because we have to, that does not make us racist, we just want what's best for our children and to live comfortable crime free lives where like minded people can live in harmony with each other... We all want the same thing, to live in a safe, clean crime free environment with government services that work...

We that are for peace and no corruption murders no services no water no electicity we the law abiding citicens deserves the Cape...but those that broke our DEAR SA must stay where they are they will do the same to the cape if they get the change we dont want them in the cape they had 30yrs and now we are a failed state
