At 9:25 mark, Efren did not only thread the needle at that shot. What he did was way more remarkable than threading the needle. He made the 2-ball hit the 9-ball then hit the 10-ball so the 2-ball can go in. A double-kiss executed perfectly!
for the past few decades and in his prime, efren 'bata' reyes is the greatest pool player who ever lived, a living legend, a genius at his game. he's sees shots nobody would anticipate or imagine...that's why they call him 'the magician'. just like boxing sport with rankings, there are lots of great pool players climbing the ranks, but efren already made his spot in pool history.
sgtjoe2008 A living legend of our generation. I watched him play throughout the years whenever I get the chance and I still get astonished and amaze how "The Magician" make hard shots makes it so easy.
Watched him when I was a kid and the shots he pulled off was insane, along with Django Bustamante, they were some of the best that I've ever seen. When they were tagged as a team, they were unstoppable.
Not a wasted movement or overpowered shot. He always gives the ball just the right amount of power to go to where he wants it to go. And he did it before anyone. He reinvented the game. GOAT
Efren knows every inch, every angle that the balls can run around on the pool table not because he learned it in a book or instructional videos, etc., but from hours & hours of practice since he was a kid. He literally slept on the pool table when he's done practicing/playing pool all day, that's how he honed his skills to be the best pool player ever.
Efren "the magician" reyes, arguably the best pool player in the history of the sport. Definitely the most exciting pool player in the planet, of all time.
Bro in early 60s to 70s he played 3 cusion billiards or carome billiards...that's why he's very good in kicking the ball....and very accurate wherever hes going to kick safe or shooting the ball.....and according to the other legend....he is the best pool billiards of all time.....the man with a million smile and humble always🙂🙂💚

Efren sees shots that not even the best professional pool players around can see. That's why they call him the Magician. That first shot was not obvious to most players, even professionals. To see that shot ahead is commendable, but to imagine and execute it, is a different story. @09:20 FYI, he intentionally let the object ball (2 ball) hit the 9 ball and 10 ball to pocket it. Also, just a little bit of a tip coming from a person who gambles and bet professional players (Bustamante, Biado, Orcullo etc.) in pool. Efren most of the time plays a 2-way shot, particularly on shots that are both impossible and missable. 2-way, meaning, he will try to make the shot and play safe at the same time to avoid a simple shot for the next opposing player. Addt'l fun fact: I never had the chance to bet with Efren on pool, but I bet with him when he played poker once. Both of us ended up losing our money. LOL! Efren is the GOAT played him many times at Derby city his humbleness is out of this world unlike many of my fellow American players he shows no anger is he misses or does something stupid he just smiles sits down and has this relaxing attitude
the best of Efren usually comes out when therer's big money on the line. He always bags the big prize in pool history. Not only that, majority of pool players nowadays got their influence from Efren's trick shots but the only thing that they couldn't imitate from Efren is the way that he weaves the cues like a magic wand.....

He is a Filipino professional pool player, with a nickname of “The Magician”. He is a winner of over 70 international titles and is the only person in history to win World Championships in two different disciplines in pool. By defeating Earl Strickland in the inaugural “Color of Money” event in 1996, Reyes took home the largest single event purse in pool history. Many players consider Reyes to be the greatest pool player of all time.
Best part of watching Efren Reyes during his days is when the commentators would always be surprised on how he prepares his next shot and with most players they could predict how they will do there preparations while Efrens preparations where so crafty that you would always say to yourself "why didnt i think of that?".
In other sports there will always be contentions who is the GOAT. For billiards/pool GOAT is even an understatement for Efren, he was once described as having the hands of a surgeon and a brain of a genius. This guy is an alien!
He used to work in a billiard place as a kid. He uses the pool table to sleep and the balls racked in a triangle as a pillow. That's why he got so good. And he got his nickname "Bata" (kid) because in the billiard place, there's an older guy also named Efren.
A quick trivia: Did you know that Efren's teeth were thoroughly removed? They were deliberately removed, because for him, those teeth caused him distractions. And also removing them is his belief for good luck, in every game that he plays or for his entire career, in general.
There's a lot of efren reyes video on youtube. Specially the trick shots during the game. Only efren can do that, other will play safety but efren, he will find a way to sink the ball. Keep watching T.
Just to set the record straight, The Magician is no longer the #1 pool player in the world. He has retired from competitive action guys... Though it can't be denied that he is the GOAT. Perhaps someday, someone of his caliber might emerge from the scene, but assuredly it will not happen in our lifetime. Long live the King!
Efren is the Goat of the Pool. All around champion. A winner of over 70 international titles, Reyes was the first player to win world championships in two different disciplines in pool.
Its not only the actual shot that you should look when playing billard..its the preparation of the position of your cue ball for the next shot that you should look into.
The shots he makes can be done by a lot of other pool players everywhere; but during a set up trick shooting. Not Efren. What makes him special is when he does such shots during actual competitions. Others would just tend for safety shots but Efren does otherwise. The mark of the greatest.
The point is, he did amazing shots during serious/tournament/live game. I think he always telling us it's lucky a dozen times and he smiles. But in the end it's all calculated.
My top 3 of all time are Efren Reyes, Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer. Other notable players are Ralf Souquet, Mika Immonen, Django Bustamante, Nick Varner, Chao Pong-fang, Thorsten Hohmann, Darren Appleton, Alex Pagulayan and Wu Cha Ching. On the women side, Jeanette Lee (the woman on the other table on 12:13 and Allison Fischer.

The way he curves the ball to hit that blue 2 ball reminds me of the same move he did in a local san miguel beer commercial 😁😁😁 again this is why he is called the magician for a reason 😁😁😁 ive watched him compete internationally and locally and this guy is a legend 😁😁😁
1 Efren Reyes - The Magician. Out of this list, Efren is head and shoulders above the rest. ... 2 Ron Dooley. ... 3 Shane Van Boening. ... 4 Earl Strickland - The Pearl. ... 5 Johnny Archer - The Scorpion. ..
Also, Efren can "curve" the ball not only once but twice. We pinoys call it the SMB (San Miguel Beer) shot since Efren performed that shot for a San Miguel Beer commercial. You should go look that up....
Hey T.a little funny trivia.do u know efren doenst have teeth?he have false teeth but doent use it whenever hes on a competition because he cant concentrate.thats why he has the cutest smile😉😁😂
He says it's because he " doesn't want to wash away the luck". Amazing that the greatest pool player of all time is also one of the most humble and gracious people too!
For me the top 5 best all time living and active players as far as pool is concerned would be 1. Efren Reyes 2. Shane Van Boening 3. Earl Strickland 4. Johnny Archer 5. Denis Orcollo
1-9 9 being last(yellow striped) cant hit other balls first other than the ordered number. If u hit 2 before 1 its a violation, but if u hit 1 and hole in 2 its good
The games of 9 ball or 10 ball , the ball are shot in rotation , lowest number ball must be shot first , the player who pockets the 9 or 10 wins the game. Best players of past. , BUDDY HALL , MIKE SIEGEL ,EARL STRICKLAND ,EFFEN REYES during the 80's. JOSE PARICA was another top world class competitor from the Phillipines.
The first shot was deceptively easy, tbh - most decent amateurs should make that more often than they miss. The major factor is the other ball so close to the pocket. Contrast that with 3:10 - a much harder shot because the 9 is a couple feet from the pocket; no margin for error. I've never seen the shot at 9:20 before - that one is insane! Same idea as the first shot - carom the ball in off another, 'cept he calculates for 2 caroms and again, the 10 ball is not close the pocket. That's one of the slickest, most amazing shots I've ever seen. 11:00 is great too - not just the pot, but he tries to make the 9 at the same time - a classic 'two-way shot' in 9-ball. The thing about Efren is that he's the complete package - he can make all the standard shots, he can calculate banks and kicks like no-one on earth, probably, he has the creativity to find solutions and shots that no-one else sees ( like at 9:20 ) and the humility and wisdom to always play the percentages and know when to attack and when to play defensively. As far as him being the GOAT, well, he's my fave simply because he's making art on the pool table. It's actually mind-expanding to watch him, because you get to see his mind working on that higher level. You asked about other potential GOATs in pool: check out 'Color of Money' series - it's still on youtube, I believe - 9-ball, racing to 120 games for $100,000 against Earl Strickland, arguably his greatest rival, and in the discussion for GOAT, even though he's kind of a headcase. But those two are like fire and ice, and they've taken turns beating up on each other since the 80's. Aaanyway, thanks for another great video :)
Yow T! Try to react to his farewell tour just this year 2018 :) It's really insane. It's more like MJ playing 98 or Kobe on 2016, every shots are beyond imagination.
Manny pacquio and bata reyes is the filipino living legend!!! Thats it!!!

You're missing paeng nepomuceno of bowling. He has a record in guiness book.

I need this mans pool skills to beat the lads on game night
1-9 9 being last(yellow striped) cant hit other balls first other than the ordered number. If u hit 2 before 1 its a violation, but if u hit 1 and hole in 2 its good
I think he doing this different maths in his head while playing. A dang smart man. -filipino here lol
JOSE PARICA was
another top world class competitor from the Phillipines.
HAVE THE THRILL WATCHING THIS PLAYER PLAY BILLIARD......OW WAHHHH !!!

Efren is the God of Billiards. He's a tier above the best. And no one could argue that.

LOL! I love the way you present it. You're right, Efren is interesting to watch. I was late to work, one time because I was watching his game.
Bro its 9ball you start by hitting the 1 ball(yellow) going up to 9ball (yellow stripes)
