Given how the retheme of Ramses at Gardaland went, this isn't too "out there" to be a possibility.. The question is more around whether Merlin would pay for the IP more than whether they would re-theme Duel... Given that, just like they did with Chessington, Duel "went up for sale" on Zoopla last month; indicating that something is about to happen.

This is a fantastic concept! As you were explaining how it could work, I had images in my head on how it could work!! As a massive fan of stranger things anyways, I would love this!! 🤘

Thanks Jake! It was so much fun working on this video/concept.
      I can’t wait for Volume 2 of Stranger Things… 🕰

I think a Thorpe park fright night maze would be perfect.

I think that’s a really good concept, you should be working for Merlin at this point 😂😂 I’m not sure if Merlin would be able to acquire the rights to such a popular show tho as they usually go for ones that are cheaper to get hold of like Black Mirror owned by Endemol. Perhaps they could use some form of projection mapping to make a part of the ride turn from the real world to the upside down. That would be cool 😄

Hahaha. Thanks, for the kind words. 😅
It would probably have to be a large investment/project to get the budget to acquire the rights.
Love the idea about the projection mapping! 😯

Fantastic idea, although do they have a deal with Universal as they did the scare maze at HHH a few years ago? (Hadn’t got to that part of the video!) If possible I’d love Alton to do it, it’s fits. Can be family thrill, but the cost of the IP would be insane. And could Alton do it justice?
A trackless dark ride showing you going into the upside down is just perfect

Thanks! Yeah it definitely wouldn’t be cheap to acquire the rights to it… 🫠
I think if they did have the IP, Alton Towers (Duel) would be the perfect test to see how guests respond. Then if all goes well, I would be great a larger presence at Thorpe Park!

Good concept though curse was definitely the right move as most IPs go out of fashion quite fast

Thanks for watching this video! 🙏
Yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if Universal eventually gets the rights to use Stranger Things.

Now it's interesting you said say this because I have a little story, whether it's true I'm not sure. So, about 15 years ago a friend's mum used to work for a construction firm based in Stoke that had a contract with Alton Towers and they would provide construction resources for the park e.g scaffolding, fencing, groundwork sort of stuff. She was a manger or something at this firm. Anyway, they had to know the plans for any new attraction at the park for obvious reasons and she told my friend and I that there were plans for a new Harry Potter themed attraction at Alton Towers, again, I don't know if this is true!
Anyway, the plans clearly never saw the light of day. I'm not even sure at that point Alton Towers had approached Warner Bros or Rowling at this point and it was just an idea. However, about 2 or 3 years later The Dark Forest opened with TH13TEEN. I've always put the dots together that THIS was meant to be the Harry Potter based area. The Dark Forest is very much like the Forbidden Forest, the wraiths during TH13TEENS marketing are very dementor like, the crypt could have been Hogwarts or the shrieking shack perhaps? Anyway, when Hagrids motorbike opened and I read the description, it reminded me of TH13TEEN and that's when I clicked and remembered this story from years before. Its a free fall vertical drop coaster that fly's around the Forbidden Forest and TH13TEEN ( that fly's around the Dark Forest orfcourse) was obviously the world's first one of those, developed by the same coaster manufacturer, Intamin. She told us this about 3 years after Rita opened, which could have easily been re-themed to a Ford Anglia, which eventually finds its residence in the Forbidden Forest after crashing into the Whomping Willow. So, I don't know if Alton Towers had this idea, it fell through, but they stuck with the thematics and aesthetics of the idea and the rest is history! Take it with a pinch of salt if you will but a little bit of interesting story time for you! 😋

Just like sonic spinball ride they would have to have the permission to make and have the brand by sega but sonic spinball have changed name to spinball whizzer.

Nah I don't think it will be a stranger things haunted house only because merlin entertainment would have to have the permission for the brand.
