This is such a dishonest and misleading thing for them to say, and for the media to publish. Ambulance crews were not told not to save them. They were told not to enter the ride until it had been made safe and the fire service could establish safe access to the casualties. That is normal! Ambulance crews can’t help anyone if they get themselves killed. Scene safety is important. It is incredibly insulting to suggest that ambulance crews were told not to save them.
The same thing happened at the Manchester arena attack. The ambulance crews couldn't help anyone until the police and bomb squad gave them the all clear. It's standard procedure
these two are so inspirational. after suffering a horrific tragedy they continue to live life to the full and not let the accident take over them. wishing them all the best with their future 🤍
These pair are amazing. I was on the smiler shortly before the accident and followed the entire investigation closely as well as following the survivors of that horrible day. Leah is a huge inspiration to many, and they've both always carried themselves impeccably when dealing publicly. Not to mention the amount they have done for charity. Lovely couple and glad to see them coming out the other side and finding happiness together. I thought the interview was a bit random, went off on some strange tangents and didnt really cover very much, would have liked to have heard a lot more from Leah about various things but it was still a nice chat and nice to hear them both talk. Would like to see more of them on some other similar style channels.
What an amazing inspirational video. I am in absolute awe of the positivity that exhumes from them both. May your happiness and positivity continue for years to come ❤
A scene has to be made safe before anyone can proceed...fire/paramedic/ambulance/police...our emergency services are amazing and would definitely not just 'leave someone'.
Great interview - inspirational. Live life to the full everyday! And yeah people shouldn’t be worried what people think if they’re looking, it’s just a natural reaction to wonder how did that happen, it’s not from disgust at all 😄 Beautiful☺️
Their first interview, she said they were waiting an hour and half to get on the ride, is that the time they first thought? I know after a traumatic event things are not always clear, only until someone tells you. Well done for standing by each other, you both clearly are meant to be together x
Ah I see, a test train was left on the rails & an engineer went on to overide the safety cut off & let the train with passengers on smash into the stationary one.
yeah, 100% human error. usually it's procedure to use your eyes as a ride op. something was showing as being on the track whilst they were e-stopped on the 1st incline. i've been on The Smiler a million times it's my favourite coaster and at the batwing element they were going at the fastest speed it reaches with inertia. when that warning comes up, multiple ride ops are meant to go out and visually look at the whole rollercoaster. they did no such thing. the test train failed because of the wind. they really failed these people. Leah, Joe and the other survivors deserve every penny they got and more from Merlin because so much went wrong in order for that to happen. also the RIDE OPS telling the air ambulance not to go up? lmao. the air ambulance have FULL AUTHORITY. they knew how bad it was because they see accidents all the time i'm glad they used their authority and saved them.
@@yeebler Did they really think the ambulance crew wouldn't go to the injured? Are they mad? What were they suggesting, leaving them to starve to death? Baffling.
I'm 7 minutes in & have no idea what actually happened, I'll go google. But it would have been good if they'd explained what actually happened, injuries etc. I assume so far that they got injured at the theme park & had a payout which pays for the holidays.
It’s fantastic my favourite ride there, the accident was down to human error. The ride never malfunctioned at all it’s completely safe, even more so after the accident …
Shocking how they raise money for air ambulance and then slag them off. Huge difference between being told not to save you and it wasn’t safe to get to you get your facts right before spreading hate
Her injuries were much worse than his, she definitely could have died and he told her to pull herself together when she almost cried. He only hurt his finger. 😂 bless you guys tho ❤
"You never expect it to happen" - not really, if there was no thought that a crash/ incident could happen a lot of people wouldnt go on them! The fear that it could go wrong then relief that it doesnt is the point of going on a ride like that. If you were 100% certain nothing could go wrong, you would lose the fear factor
What a ridiculous comment! Id rather have both my legs and my 28 days holiday per year just like what you probably have! Show some respect and empathy! Imagine this had happened to your loved ones!
10 years and they still milking it. Those 2 love media attention when they can get it. Take a look at the interview on "This morning". No sad faces, no faces of someone who was scared of talking about it because it "gives them nightmares" no....they were smiles and laughing.
Wow you feel the need to comment multiple times if you dont like them then dont watch, no amount of money is going to bring her leg back or change what happend and the lasting affects on what that day brought to them. So what if they go on holidays if i had money id do same! Good on them

Oh shut up.
The fact is they didn't listen to the cretin that said that and because of that they are still here today.
Yes which is completely different..than being told not to save them.
The same thing happened at the Manchester arena attack. The ambulance crews couldn't help anyone until the police and bomb squad gave them the all clear. It's standard procedure
Same as in the london bombs…my friend was a paramedic and he said they weren’t allowed to the scene of the Tavistock square bus bomb for over an hour.
these two are so inspirational. after suffering a horrific tragedy they continue to live life to the full and not let the accident take over them. wishing them all the best with their future 🤍
I completely agree
Are they?
They are telling a story that it's not entirely true...

Big love❤to these two, and everyone else that this affected.
An amazing couple inspiring to all ❤❤ so positive despite everything ❤ the section of the ride they were in was called a bat wing
the meaning brave is throne about alot but leah and tom and the medics that saved them TRUE WARRIORS
It sucks that the accident was human error. I’m glad they’ve sorted it out, the smiler is still my fav coaster at Alton.

i feel like this was the guy who was screaming " get me off this fuckin ride!!"
My uncle was in the same room as her in the hospital while she was recovering and had a conversation aswell 🥹

@@beasmith1 I know. Maybe the shock of it all I don't know but I'm glad they told them to go away!

"pay for their holidays"?
they do explain it later on in the episode
She lost her leg , he had his knees smashed in . He got 100k , she got millions
Perhaps they didn’t want to focus too much on the actual day itself, and instead chose to talk more about how they rebuilt their lives afterwards.
@@silvershoes9724 yeah, fine. But the original comment was just a tad insensitive.
I have never or ever will go on that smiler ride at Alton Towers
It’s completely safe. I’ve been on it and since the incident it’s the safest ride in the park.
It's shittest ride in uk though..terrible coaster @@motmemotme

Your loss. It was human error and will never happen again
ok, i'm riding it for the 12th time tomorrow
This was painful to watch.
Just one humble word of advice Live for today But plan and save somewhat incase you make it to 2mrw ❤
Sorry but thata utter rubbish they was told not to save u and they said that to u did they okay 🙄
Are you them? Where you there? No so keep your opinions to yourself.
Where you there? Are you a doctor or paramedic that helped them?
I went there on that ride a month before
Shocking how they raise money for air ambulance and then slag them off. Huge difference between being told not to save you and it wasn’t safe to get to you get your facts right before spreading hate
Omg I remember like itvwas yesterday
Disgusting blaming emergency services
Her injuries were much worse than his, she definitely could have died and he told her to pull herself together when she almost cried. He only hurt his finger. 😂 bless you guys tho ❤
why would you go on a ride after it had broken multiple times i would trust it again
She lost her legs in the accident and got paid out millions, that's why she's loving life at the cost of her legs, that's why 🤐
Rather have my legs and be skint
Leg, she managed to keep the other one.
@@sharronjermin7119 same too 😅
Why can't we all be rich and keep all 3 legs 😘😍🤣😗😚😆😉😊🤗

U horrible man, you are obviously a sad person ..... she would have rather been skint nd had her leg!!
Not everyone has a million and half pay out to just go on holidays willy nilly
Not everyone goes through a traumatic event caused by gross negligence.
would you like to nearly lose your life and lose a leg due to someones negligence? idiotic comment, guessing you're 12 🙈
I suppose you would like to lose your leg for 1,5 million ?
