  • This might be my most useful and functional 3D printed design. I really do like the smooth and steady cinematic camera movements. I will be using this in my future videos to stabilize shots.
    I have a couple edits I want to make to the 3D prints but then I will add a link here for you to download and use!

    Don't worry I'm still working on the Doom Part 2 tutorial video!
    Thanks for watching and for all of your support!

    This is pretty neat. Also, when are we getting part 2 on the doom engine? I really want to start making 3D models in it and retire from creating models in PicoCAD.

    Try using ball bearings. The friction between the plastic will always be there and get worse over time.
    Or better yet, you can make a right like the 3D printers use with a belt and a motor. It would be a lot sturdier and smoother.

      Just use drawer rails.

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz Рік тому +1

      It can get better over time as the high spots get knocked down. Unfortunately both the rail and the slider are printed in the same orientation, which is a problem since the layer ridges align, it must necessarily jump every step a little. It depends very much on the filament, i don't expect silk type PLA to be abrasion resistant, and ABS fundamentally has an abrasion resistance issue.
      But i also don't think two of the same types of plastic is ideal. I have had a good run with PETG 3D printed bushings on any kind of metal rod though, can be even be alu rod or alu angle.

    Brilliant stuff! Sometimes (and where possible) changing the print orientation of one of the moving parts/frictional surfaces can help so that the layer lines are either running at right angles to each other, or both _along_ the direction of travel, rather than both at right angles to the direction of travel.

  • @Dadertrix
    @Dadertrix Рік тому +2

    perhaps consider 8020 extrusions for less friction and less shake? it would take away from it being a wholly 3d printed system, and would add a lot of extra weight, but I feel it's worth considering

    I love that gold filament. Had a sheen to it that from certain angles almost made it look like brass. Definitely need the cat in every video, maybe teach him or her to type. Have you tried smoothing your prints?

    • @3DSage
      @3DSage  Рік тому +1

      I like how it looks too! It's amazon PLA filament. It's harder to keep my cat out of my videos since he always sits in front of my camera. And I need to smooth the railings without adding any friction.

      I filmed in 30fps but exported in 24 which can caused some framerate jitter. The footage was smoother than I thought it would be for being 3D printed.
