Yes it may very well be clear coat Nitro that was not cleaned off the nut. People seem to forget these are Mass produced guitars and will not be up to Custom shop QC.Gibson pushes out over 400 guitars a day whereas their Custom shop does maybe 100 per day. For the standards to be flawless Gibson would have to cut down their 400 a day quota to like 150 a day and that adds to a loss of money to them. I do not see Gibson willing to lose money anytime in the near future! 🤣
Your Gibson Les Paul traditional has 57 classic pu's and the ones in this 60's are the 61r and 61t set. These are a lot like the old T-top's and have a great raw aggressive rock tone. They can be polite and sound great clean if you back them off on the volume knob and have a good amp. About the neck shape. that is very subjective and one profile is not "better"than another. It is a do you like vanilla or chocolate type of thing. I can play either slim taper or the 50's thick profile. For the more fast shredding i prefer the slim taper neck on the 60's but for Blues, lots of bends and slower playing the 50's neck is great. Bottom line as usal Gibson is charging too much for their guitars! this is coming from someone who own several Gibson's. as a company i am not a fan of theirs.
I'm sad you don't like it. But I get the whole neck preference thing. But your guitar top looks fantastic. Have you seen the plain top on Dan Hawkins guitar? He f%$#'in rocks that Les Paul.
The neck is the most important part since it dictates most of how the guitar feels in the hands. I am lucky i can play any style neck it does not matter that much to me as long as the guitar rings out, sustains, is loud and punchy unplugged. I have guitars with wizard thin necks and les pauls with the 50's baseball bat necks.
Very nice. I love the no filter commentary. Much appreciated. I can’t justify those blemishes for a new 2k guitar. I love Gibson but I stick to custom shop or any USA model pre 2000
I'm sure you don't care, but I think perhaps the reason your video got more dislikes than likes is because of the guy's language. I don't have a problem with it, but when doing demos, it's best to keep it clean. I like how you guys kept to the point and didn't sugar coat what you thought about it. I agree the 60's Standard has more aggressive pickups and the neck feels better to me too. You guys seem cool though. No hate, just pointing that out.
I personally try not to curse so much. Cody however, really doesn't care at all. At the end of the day I'm not overly bothered because we're being true to ourselves and putting out unfiltered content without bias. It comes off as a bit more unprofessional but it's more us and I like that our content is honest. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Positive feedback can be few and far between on this platform.
I think it's no cracking at the nut, mine came with that as well, if you look close up is the nitrocellulose layer, and that's all.
Same here

They can't make a lighter Les Paul I guess? lol that older drier wood on those vintage ones made them lighter and more resonant
They vary. I have seen standards at 8.5lbs and ones at over10lbs. that is why you have to hand pick one in person and not order online.
Pick guards are for squares? I'm outa here....
square

Where’d you get that Standard?
What year is this? 2005?
PICKGUARDS ARE FOR SQUARES. Flippin knew it
The biggest problem here is the MCR t shirt and the butt rock.
