Very helpful video, thank you. I have the Xperia 10 iv (pretty much the same as the 10 v), and have been thinking about upgrading to the 5 v sometime, but honestly there is just not big enough difference for my use case, to justify the 2.5x price difference. I wish my 10 iv had a better camera, and a physical 2 stage shutter button, but all the other differences like 120hz display, game enhancer, or camera pro apps are useless to me. And quite frankly I don't have any issues with my 10 iv (apart from the unreliable fingerprint reader), so I will just wait one or two more years, and see what Sony will be offering by then.
@@beingsolo80Xperia 10 V owner here and sometimes switching between apps and going to home screen is bit sluggish, also when slow scrolling feels weird. Maybe it's bug on software idk
They are totally different phones, processor is 10 times faster, 120hz, pro camera, smaller. But if these differences are not enough for you is good to stay on 10
That's more Qualcomm's fault for not releasing a successor chip. Its successor the 6 Gen 1 wasn't released until after this phone made it out of the R&D stage. Most likely the 10 VI will use that chip instead.
I'm glad you did this comparison for people because the average user would be confused as to what they are getting. The 10 is definitely a budget phone but it still contains alot of Sony features not found at this price point: beautiful design, good cameras with real zoom lense, headphone jack with all the audio codecs, bluetooth 5.2 with all the codecs including LDAC, large battery with 2 day battery life, battery longevitiy, notchless display, stereo speakers, NFC, SD card slot with dual sim, and FULL water and dust proofing. These are features often missing at this price point and not always noticed by buyers because they only look at the exterior size and flashy colours. At the price of EUR500 or less the 10 Series is the best option on the market for those in the know. Perhaps the 10vi will have a 120fps screen but it's not a massive issue for most people. The 5v is a premium phone, with the expected features. Actually more than other phones at this price if you look into the features. I wish I could afford a 5v but maybe one day.
If I may take a contrarian POV...I'd choose higher battery life over a high refresh rate. Updating the display more frequently saps more energy from the battery. That said, I'd prefer it be a setting so that those who prefer the high refresh rate can choose to turn it on while those who don't can turn it off.
Budget phone beating anyyhing in the under 500eur (midrange)? It makes the ohone midrange and not budget. Unles you meant budget = midrange. Ps: pexel 7a kicks this phone ass and it does not come close to 500 eur. So i am sure there are more phones under 500 that kicks this sony. Ps: even remember tha sony phones has premium based on the brand alone, so 350 eur from sony is something like 250 from other brands
@@basedpatriotLT The Sony's are normally priced at 500, but recently dropped to 350. I think their cameras are in the 500 range, but the CPU is in the 350 range. But remember it also had IP 68, which no phone has for 500 as well as fantastic display which most phones don't have except Samsung.
@@MrOrtmeier in 350 range it is still not the best option (arguabky has nice features). If it cost 500eur, than it would be a stuoid buy because many cheaper phones kicks its ass. Again pixel 7a as an example is way better phone for less than 500eu
You miss 1 point. If you give higher refresh rate mean it use more battery and so you cant get long battery life as Xperia 10 IV. Since u reference GSMArena. They also put Xperia 10 V as battery monster. Even my Xperia 10 III charge after 3 days.
Buying a used flagship is the way to go IMO, I'm quite happy with my 1 II. I also had a 10 II but I didn't really like it, so I sold it. Other than that I mostly had used flagships in the last 10 years like V - > Z2 -> 10 II -> XZ1 -> 1 II.
60 hrts display is deffinitly still acceptable in 2024 in my opinion. 120fps is a useless feature that only eats battery why would you use it. i have 5ii and i only use 120fps when doing pokemon go pvp. i rather have a 60hrts display and a bit better camera for the 10 series
I looked at the 5 but it have a glass back and I already have an old Sony with a cracked back. So I bought the 10 just to discover that it does not have a notifying LED light. I found that so stressful to always have to check the phone if the charger was really connected or if I missed any call/msg that I went back to my old Sony. And the new one went into a drawer somewhere. Still waiting for Sony to get their shit together so I can get a new phone.
Great video and very helpful good detailed both phones. I'm having the 10 V and thinking to sell it to grab the 5 V , how's the screen quality on 5 V is has better colours? Sometimes i feel like 10 is falling behind in colours accuracy and vivid even from my old XZ1 which has IPS screen
That's the main reason I am using 5 V, the screen of 10 V is a bit of a bummer. I have a video that you can check that I talk about all Xperia phones, I also noticed while filming it that even old XZ series have better quality of screen compared to 10 V.
@@techmo2020 thanks for the reply bro,I love the colors on my XZ1 so solid vibrant no oversaturated the contrast is low though I don't mind cause HDR on videos helping. I'm probably getting the 5V
Also another one question (maybe silly one but I wonder 😅) the screen on 5 V when is off is deep black or alike 10 V slightly to grey. So in direct sunlight the bezels visible much from the screen?
Crossing fingers 10 VI will be good or 10 V tanks down even further in price. Those who whine about over pricing better wait out for months or just move to other brands.
The iPhone 14 has a screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, but it was the best-selling smartphone in the world in 2023. This means that, there are more important things in a smartphone than the refresh rate of the screen.

Do you find your navigation snappy? No lags?

IMO it's quite bold from Sony that they have used the Snapdragon 695 like 3 times in a row in the Xperia 10 series.
I prefer this to 6 gen 1 with 🦍 Glass 3 and other inconveniences (mono speaker for instance)
That's more Qualcomm's fault for not releasing a successor chip. Its successor the 6 Gen 1 wasn't released until after this phone made it out of the R&D stage. Most likely the 10 VI will use that chip instead.
Take a look at Moto G8* series and Oneplus Nord CE* series - did right the same.

Big downside is the missing LED notification light in the 10 V.
Unfortunately Sony removed it on both units. My Xperia 5 V doesn't have it either.

hey, there is a subtle difference and they are not both deep black.

Does 10 v has heating isses?
Xperia 10V don't have Snapdragon 8

apple 15 also 60Hz and 20W charging support
thank you so much for good video... ❤..
Problem with Sony Phones is that they have horrible software support 😅.
Exactly 💯💯
If it runs it runs. What kind of support you need?
they are ip68 rated
60hz for a 350$ phone is fine, don't you think? I mean tell that apple 😅

Sd 695 will make it useless
The 5v has such a bad display. The colors turning a white screen rainbow
