Wow. There is an incredible amount of information packed into those 10 minutes. Need to review it all slowly to better digest it. Some years ago I managed to came to understand the inter-relation of the 8 trigrams and 64 hexagrams to the I Ching. Surprisingly it seemed very simplistic compared to how I previously viewed it as being really complex. I liked this simplicity very much but seem to have lost its simple nature that I had previously developed. Need to actively apply it. Look forward to the release of your book as this may catalyse me into exploring it much more deeply - regain that simple perspective.

Wow, thank you so much! This is the best summary of I Ching I've ever heard. Perhaps strangely, I was very much drawn to the I Ching, as well as the Tao Te Ching, and the Analects of Confucius even before I was 10 years old. And I continued to consult these texts (and used yarrow stalks for the I Ching) into adulthood. For whatever reason, I'd got away from them for some years, and just recently I found myself dreaming specifically about the I Ching, so I've taken it as a sign, as I continue to have very fond memories of having consulted all these texts in my early years and believe those experiences to have been responsible for shaping the course of my life. And having been a buddhist for several decades now, I'm very grateful for those Chinese texts in that they shaped the sense of ethics and morals I continue to hold dear. I'm very much looking forward to reading your book on the I Ching. Cheers!

I'm just getting in to the I Ching right now. Since you didn't mention it in your video, I'll say it for anyone reading this comment. Benebell is currently writing (or has finished writing?) a book called "I Ching: The Oracle" that is expected to be published on September 26, 2023 (9+8+7 = 24 = 2+4 = 6 😊). I'm wondering if you might have made a mistake with the binary codes for Mountain, Wind, Thunder, and Lake at 2:45 mins.? If Yin = 0 and Yang = 1 and Younger Yang = 01 and Younger Yin = 10, then the numbers are being read from bottom lines to top lines. Following that logic, Mountain, Wind, Thunder, and Lake would be 001, 011, 100, and 110, respectively, I think. But perhaps I'm the one who's mistaken! By the way, I'm an INFJ as well. 😊

I only bought the book because Taoism has always interested me. Feeling overwhelmed, I felt like I had to watch a video to help make sense of what I read and I found your video. I cannot begin to express how cool it is that you picked up on this! The original cover design the publisher presented me with for this book featured hexagram 63. I had conveyed to them that I didn't think hexagram 63 was the best hexagram to have emblazoned that large across the front cover forever and ever. 😅 I gave them a short list of more auspicious hexagrams for them to choose from, and they ultimately went with hexagram 30, which is what you now see on the cover art. So the fact you picked up on hexagram 63 is really pretty cool and magical! 😍 I did intentionally pick this dress for the binary color scheme situation going on. 😁 And I also liked that the style of the dress had just a little hint of Asian inspiration to it. And yes I did notice the two bit string of binary colors going on down the center, but didn't necessarily see hexagram 63, but that is so cool how you picked it up because that was the first hexagram featured on my book cover!

Very articulate explanation. I have to say, I love mathematics and to see that, Leibniz the founder of Calculus, used I-Ching really fascinated me. Had no idea!
The I Ching is my favorite form of divination for it's philosophical depth. You have historically important philosophers like Zhu Xi and Cheng Yi writing commentaries on it and that's like having Descartes and Kant writing Tarot interpretations. I always get something to think about when I cast the I Ching.
@Norman LeRoy mine too! Love that analogy of having Kant and Descartes interpret Tarot! Indeed, I love I Chings depth, and even though Tarot was my 1st "love", I Ching has become my go-to oracle. Not only because I feel it's more accurate for future predictions but the guidance we get from it really makes us think about things 😊
I'm really curious about how East Asia may have interacted with civilizations from out of oyr planet in remote past. I deeply believe I Qing was "received" as you mentioned. But it's unclear for me the borders between spirituality in the remote past and possible interactions with ekevated beings from other places or dimensions. Many are the registers of lost civilisations like Mu in the Pacific, from where wisdom may have traveled to continents close to it. I would love to hear your view of it.

There are quite a few different methods, in addition to coins and yarrow stalks. :-) Not sure there's a "best" method, but rather, you'll decide for yourself that one of the many methods happens to work the best for you. So my book covers many approaches in the hopes that each will find their own.
Will your book cover on guide to practically interpet answers? I don't get why i get answers like Family (hex 37) or Marrying Maiden (hex 54) on questions that totally have no relation to it
It's hard to say whether you're already receiving a practical answer, without knowing the question. And whether a specific line reference is relevant, which might be answering the question very directly, i.e., auspicious vs. inauspicious, yay or nay. For example, receiving Hx. 54 isn't literally a prognostication of a concubine, but could be instructions to the course of strategic to take to achieve success. It's the Oracle giving you the blueprints to a strategic plan to get what it is you want. Hx. 37, The Family, might be showing you *who* is actually controlling the situation, from an unseen position, or talking about the need for interdependence in the matter at hand, or again, if the divination method points to a specific line of the hexagram, then that line itself is giving you the message.
I have purchased both Tao of Craft and your I Ching and there's just one thing I'm confused about: Surrounding the seal of the Lady of the Ninth Heaven in one diagram and the Early and Later Ba Gua in another are 36 hexagrams. I've gone page by page with other readers and we can't find any reference to these 36 hexagrams!! Can you please tell us the significance of these hexagrams?!

Instead of asking a historian about the extent of Confucious' influence on the I Ching, you can do a divination about it. That will give you a more accurate answer.
I am a Chinese, and the Book of Changes is very mysterious. We won't read this book unless it is specifically for research, because you will become addicted and can study it for a lifetime. If you understand everything, then death is not far away
There are no rules. You can consult an oracle as many or as few times as you wish. Using an oracle often will not cause you to get closer to death. That is crazy superstition.@@安稳先生-k6g
The problem with Daoist texts is that key words dont have precise meanings or have several meanings. I'm almost finished reading 'The Scripture on Great Peace' The Taiping Jing and the Beginnings of Daoism...and the translator comments on this problem many times. Being vague is the easiest of all strategies for any teacher. Still, its a deep dive into the cultural world of ancient China before Buddhism.
I like to visualize the 8 trigram all cycling around my body in clockwise spiral fasion overlaying the numbers that are vounted out in forming the tesla multiplication table. 1 is Heaven, 2 is Earth, 3 is Fire, 4 is Water, 5 is Wind, 6 is Thunder, 7 is mountan and 8 is Lake. 13 is Wind, 25 is Heaven, 37 is Wind again with thay flipping back and fourth indefinitely mating the two as one. I see see this pairing as reflectimg the 4 bigram within the 8 trigram and I am trying to see those 4 pairs as the binary pulse of my unfolding time in this world but it's not working out since I am not all that bright.

@@Dee8Bee not sure of the specifics of your learning difficulties, but for me it also has been hard to learn different topics. Have you tried Mind maps? You can do one for each hexagram, and draw little doodles and add colors and mnemonics to make it easier to remember the information. Mind maps, mnemonics and flashcards have been life-changing for me! 😊
Your book does not mention Stephen Karcher, Ph.D. who is currently the leading English-speaking authority on the I Ching. He has written numerous books on the I Ching, but there is no evidence in your book that you have read any of them. In his book, How to Use the I Ching, he introduces what he calls the Step Figure. This is a legitimate way to include additional hexagrams in your divinations. In your book, you make no mention of that. You are totally unaware of these Step Hexagrams. This is inexcusable, is it not?
Karcher is the leading English-speaking authority on the I Ching. Wen seems to be unaware of his existence. By any standard, that is inexcusable, genius.

It is not accurate. It only gives you a proposed reality of what is happening or going to happen. I've studied it next to my Bible and clearly understood the Bible verse that warns Christians not to rely on divination. This book was an unimportant lesson in my life. It also kept talking about me marrying someone and I AM SUPER SINGLE with no one I'm interested being present. The reality of life proved all it said was wrong.

There are quite a few different methods, in addition to coins and yarrow stalks. :-) Not sure there's a "best" method, but rather, you'll decide for yourself that one of the many methods happens to work the best for you. So my book covers many approaches in the hopes that each will find their own.

Will your book cover on guide to practically interpet answers? I don't get why i get answers like Family (hex 37) or Marrying Maiden (hex 54) on questions that totally have no relation to it
It's hard to say whether you're already receiving a practical answer, without knowing the question. And whether a specific line reference is relevant, which might be answering the question very directly, i.e., auspicious vs. inauspicious, yay or nay. For example, receiving Hx. 54 isn't literally a prognostication of a concubine, but could be instructions to the course of strategic to take to achieve success. It's the Oracle giving you the blueprints to a strategic plan to get what it is you want. Hx. 37, The Family, might be showing you *who* is actually controlling the situation, from an unseen position, or talking about the need for interdependence in the matter at hand, or again, if the divination method points to a specific line of the hexagram, then that line itself is giving you the message.

I have purchased both Tao of Craft and your I Ching and there's just one thing I'm confused about: Surrounding the seal of the Lady of the Ninth Heaven in one diagram and the Early and Later Ba Gua in another are 36 hexagrams. I've gone page by page with other readers and we can't find any reference to these 36 hexagrams!! Can you please tell us the significance of these hexagrams?!

Instead of asking a historian about the extent of Confucious' influence on the I Ching, you can do a divination about it. That will give you a more accurate answer.
I am a Chinese, and the Book of Changes is very mysterious. We won't read this book unless it is specifically for research, because you will become addicted and can study it for a lifetime. If you understand everything, then death is not far away

I Ching states Yinyang does not mean female and male?
The problem with Daoist texts is that key words dont have precise meanings or have several meanings. I'm almost finished reading 'The Scripture on Great Peace' The Taiping Jing and the Beginnings of Daoism...and the translator comments on this problem many times. Being vague is the easiest of all strategies for any teacher. Still, its a deep dive into the cultural world of ancient China before Buddhism.
I like to visualize the 8 trigram all cycling around my body in clockwise spiral fasion overlaying the numbers that are vounted out in forming the tesla multiplication table.
1 is Heaven, 2 is Earth, 3 is Fire, 4 is Water, 5 is Wind, 6 is Thunder, 7 is mountan and 8 is Lake.
13 is Wind, 25 is Heaven, 37 is Wind again with thay flipping back and fourth indefinitely mating the two as one.
I see see this pairing as reflectimg the 4 bigram within the 8 trigram and I am trying to see those 4 pairs as the binary pulse of my unfolding time in this world but it's not working out since I am not all that bright.

@@Dee8Bee not sure of the specifics of your learning difficulties, but for me it also has been hard to learn different topics. Have you tried Mind maps? You can do one for each hexagram, and draw little doodles and add colors and mnemonics to make it easier to remember the information. Mind maps, mnemonics and flashcards have been life-changing for me! 😊

Your book does not mention Stephen Karcher, Ph.D. who is currently the leading English-speaking authority on the I Ching. He has written numerous books on the I Ching, but there is no evidence in your book that you have read any of them. In his book, How to Use the I Ching, he introduces what he calls the Step Figure. This is a legitimate way to include additional hexagrams in your divinations. In your book, you make no mention of that. You are totally unaware of these Step Hexagrams. This is inexcusable, is it not?
Why’s it ‘inexcusable’? I think Ms Wen knows her subject inside out without any help from a ten a penny academic 🎉.. 🏴
Karcher is the leading English-speaking authority on the I Ching. Wen seems to be unaware of his existence. By any standard, that is inexcusable, genius.

It is not accurate. It only gives you a proposed reality of what is happening or going to happen. I've studied it next to my Bible and clearly understood the Bible verse that warns Christians not to rely on divination. This book was an unimportant lesson in my life. It also kept talking about me marrying someone and I AM SUPER SINGLE with no one I'm interested being present. The reality of life proved all it said was wrong.
