Step 1.
Locate and remove your old Drone module and harness. Please note which port on the remote starter/alarm the harness was plugged into.
Step 2
Using the NEW harness included with your X1, connect the new X1 module to your remote starter/alarm by plugging it into the SAME port.
Step 3
Once plugged in, the LEDs on your Drone X1 module will all start to blink. Verify that they are blinking before securing the X1 module.
Step 4
Place the Drone X1 module near your remote starter/alarm, as high up in the dash as possible. Secure it with zip-ties, if available.
Step 5
Go to "Setup" / "Vehicle Info" and update your Serial Number to activate your new X1 Module. All of your vehicle data will be transferred.

Is the X1 a direct swap with the Dr5400 unit in my car now? And whats the major difference?
I just had a new Drone XC dash cam installed yesterday and when I went to update the serial number it tells me "Device ### must be unassigned or deactivated." Now where do I go from here?
If you have a Compustar CM7000 installed in your vehicle, you must connect the X1 Module using the grey cable in the box to the brain(where the green Drone sticker is). Disconnect the black cable from brain and plug into X1 Module, then other end of grey cable to grey plug on X1 Module.
Is the black cable the one that was plugged into the old Drone unit DR-3400
@@bobo5150 i didn’t have a DR-3400.
But yes, the black cable was plugged into my Compustar CM7000.
@@Bready630 Thanks Brad I just got off the phone with Compustar and they knew nothing about it. I had the DR-3400 but they sent me a X1 to swap out because of the 3G sunset. There was only one pigtail (grey) cable in the X1 box that I used to connect the X1 to the port (green sticker) on the brain. If I'm reading correctly it sounds like I need to disconnect some other cable from the brain (cm7000) and plug it into the X1 as I noticed the X1 has an additional connector port.
@@bobo5150 yea, sorry that was not clear, need to just put the X1 in line to the brain.
Unplug black from alarm brain, plug black in to X1, take grey cable, plug into grey port on X1, take other end of grey cable and plug into Drone slot on CM7000
@@bobo5150 Also follow up in your Drone app to make sure the switch over is complete.

I would like to upgrade the unit in my car. I have the replacement unit. I’m having trouble finding the old unit. Is there a specific place that they are usually installed? I’ve been underneath the dash with the flashlight and having trouble finding it
I’m in the same boat. The X1 unit hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m going to go poke around so I know where to look. There’s really no specific location where it will be. I’m guessing it depends on where your installer put it.🤷♂️
@@Mister_Y I gave up looking. Went to installer. Turned out it was on passenger side above glovebox.
@@TJhooker07753 Gives me an idea, where to look. Just curious.....did they charge you to locate the unit? I mean it looks like a simple plug and play.
@@Mister_Y they wanted $45, but I talked them out of it.
Mine was about 2 inches from door jam. See two screws then silver box about 3 inches. It was 3m taped on top of that box. Hidden af.

How did u activate the security sensors on the x1max

I want to swap out the x1 for the x1 max so I can control my sensors vs having to go to the shop each time. Is it same process?
