Floor said that she trained for about six weeks to get her voice ready for this piece.
The first time I heard it I became breathless. My face grew wet, and I wished that the song might never end.
This is beyond goosebumps - it's a Floorgasm in your very soul. Another matchless masterpiece from Tuomas and Floor.
Fun Floor story: back in 2014, Floor led a vocal masterclass at a college in London. I was fortunate enough to be there. I was very much a beginner and listening to her made me realise, for the first time, how much hard work professionals put into singing. Songs like this, which require a lot of technique, make me think about her lessons again, and how many decisions she must make while singing. The lady WORKS. I'd always thought singing was something effortless, but I left that class and signed right up for classical lessons.
Also, she did a q&a at the end and I still wish I'd asked her how she headbangs like that and keeps her ear piece in!
Yes, and all that work is with the goal of making it SOUND effortless!

As mentioned before, this is for and about Eugene Shoemaker. He was a planetary scientist and was a candidate for an Apollo mission until he was found to have Addison's disease. He died in the 1990s and his ashes were interred on the moon in the crater that was named for him. The urn containing his remains bears that quote from Shakespeare.

As an opera singer, Floor just...dammit, she cuts onions every time! 😭😭😭 She has a way of getting to me few singers and/or composers do.
Because she does -- along with the Maestro himself, Mr. Tuomas Holopainen -- they both remind me I'm still human. Especially when I think I've got nothing left to feel, emotionally.

It's a really complex song, i'm glad you like'd it - one of my favourites. Troy's harmonies are great on this.
The story of the song is about Eugene Shoemaker who was an American geologist and one of the founders of the field of planetary science. He's list of contribution to the world of science is notable, but the main thing to focus here is that some of he's ashes were carried to the moon in 1999 and that quotation which was read by wife of Tuomas ( Johanna Kurkela ) is inscribed to his memorial capsule.
He always wanted to be an astronaut, but couldn't because he had an addison's disease. He died 1997 in a car crash.

This album is brilliant. EVERY song on disk 1 is freakin good. There's enough there in each song for you to find something new each listen at the moment. "Live"......these songs will reach even another level. Its not "old" Nightwish which if people are real then they'd realize Nightwish has never been old.
At the end they should add the voice of God " It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.”
