    Followed Justin's steps on my 2015 Porsche Cayman S rear brake rotors, which rusted in just 2 months, using the same supplies, and it came out PERFECT! Fun afternoon project. The rear rotors now match the front factory silver finish and while I was at it, I cleaned the inner rims, waxed the painted outside wheel, and also the red Brembo/Porsche pad assembly. Looks like a brand new car! Thanks Justin - great video!

    im thinking of doing this.
    One question though, is it best to mask the hub face face so the alloy wheels makes direct contact with rotar hob metal?

    Good video. I'll be doing this as soon as the weather warms up. Nice to see someone using silver, rather than a crazy color that draws too much attention. I'll be using silver as well, for a clean look. How is the DupliColor holding up?

    • @tim_tim_tim
      @tim_tim_tim 7 років тому +1

      Yeah they'd fit great - but bear in mind that aerosol paint will dissolve them pretty quickly. There are other types that are gummy as opposed to foam, but there's a risk you'd leave little pieces in the threads. Probably not that much of a problem though come to think of it.

    • @mushy18100

    • @cielobuio
      @cielobuio 7 років тому

      I did my first wheel yesterday - looks good, but for some reason the pain isn't fully drying (?). I can run my finger across the hub and it has silver on it, though the paint doesn't seem to be wet or sticky.... I don't get that... Is it down to the paint maybe. I need to make sure I'm doing it right before starting on the the other wheels.
      Also, is the break disk and the rotor a single part ? I can't see any seam, on my 4 series, it's as if the hub and disk are a single component.
      Thanks for any tips/advice

    • @iqHunter
      @iqHunter 6 років тому +2

      Because you usually mount the wheel metal to metal with a speific torque, if there is paint inbetween, since paint is softer than metal, it will "absorb" some of the torque and worst case scenario the bolts could come loose

    • @iqHunter
      @iqHunter 6 років тому +2

      Nicholas Delagas yes kinda. Tge other problem is that mounting the wheel with ~110 nm against paint it is very likely that the paint will get damaged after a few times, it starts peeling off in some places and the mounting surface wont be even anymore. Just dont paint where the wheel mounts imho

    Dont paint never again. You paint a part of the disc and the shaft nut.. If you do not remove the disc, you better not do it.. The paints contain oil, the oil prevents friction. Then, if there is paint on the braking surface, the brake will not work.

    • @justinbuice
      @justinbuice  7 років тому +2
