Hi Lynn intermittent fasting does work I have now gone back to it as I had a TIA about 5weeks ago,I have an MRI appointment on the 27th to see what caused it as nothing is showing on a CT scan, the main cause of it up to now was my blood pressure as it was really high medication has brought it down and I feel great.I now need to push myself with more exercise as well as fasting.Take care hope all is well with you xx❤❤

I’m so sorry to hear that June, it’s scary isn’t it. Hopefully the MRI will not show anything and it was down to your BP. That’s the best outcome you could wish for. We need to take control of our health don’t we, and I’m enjoying the IF, it’s working for me and I’m finding it easy. We can all motivate each other on here, that’s the lovely thing about this community that’s built up, everyone is so supportive ❤️❤️❤️

Morning Lynn, how are you? I just have to tell you that after a week of intermittent fasting I have lost 3lb 🥳🥁That is the biggest weekly weight loss I’ve had, it’s usually 1lb. So thank you once again and I hope you have a great week. ❤x

HI Lynn, since my hubby had his heart problem and myself having hereditary high BP our whole eating habits have changed. I have cut out most sugar products, biscuits, sugar in tea and coffee (really hard). I make all sauces, nothing out of jars, oils, NO processed food. I am 68, never been over weight but the thought of a stroke drives me on. Slowly my sugar twinges are going. Very occasional does not hurt. Every body is different and our metabolisms are not the same. I walk a lot and squats and since sugar leaves my body it has become easier to keep fit. Whatever suits you Lynn but watch what you take into your body. Inspiring, thanks for sharing xxx❤❤❤

Hi Lynn, thanks for this video, it’s given me the push that I need to stop lying to myself and take charge of my overeating habits, I find myself saying “ what can I eat “ as soon as I sit down on the settee in the evening to watch tv, and I’ve only just finished my dinner for goodness sake!!! That’s my danger time, snacking, it’s a really hard habit to break. Of course it’s not just the amount you eat and when, but it’s what food you eat too. So, I’m going on this journey with you and I’m really going to try. So I wish us all good luck, and good health. Bye for now, love Sandra. Xx

I can tell you in all honesty that now that I’ve stopped, I’m not missing them, I haven’t had any biscuits these last 2 nights at all. And it’s not bothering me. If we do it together it will spur us on, we can motivate each other to get where we need to be, I’m always here if you need some support. Lots of love ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Lynn. You’re doing amazing with your IF. I’ve been doing it for over 7 years and stay at the same weight. It’s easy once you’re used to it. It’s hard to stop eating treats especially coming up to Christmas but I believe that if you deny yourself everything you just crave it more and feel totally miserable so an odd treat is fine. Have a lovely day. ❤💕💕

I agree about the odd treat, it’s not going to kill us is it lol ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Lynn, this video was so interesting and honest. Like you I’m 5ft 1 and 8 years ago I weighed 10 stone 2 pounds. I was uncomfortable and my clothes didn’t fit. I thought there is no way I’m buying a bigger size. I cut out all the rubbish and eat smaller portions. I got down to 8 stone 5 pounds and I’ve kept to that weight ever since. We have two dogs and walk them on average 5 miles a day which helps enormously. Something my husband and I really enjoy. Good luck with your journey Lynn, you can do it. Looking forward to Sundays video. ❤️

Hi Lynn don’t know how I missed this fabulous video it was way down in my play list. Fantastic I’m in with you and all the other lovely subscribers who are struggling. I ran a weight loss group for 27 years managed to keep my weight under control cause it was the motivation of getting weighed in Front of people that kept me going. I stopped smoking 7 years ago ready for my premature twin grandchildren arriving. Didn’t want any smoke near them from my clothes etc. and the weight started creeping on my belly is like I’m 7 months pregnant Since I retired 3 years ago well what can I say. I’m like a telly tubby. So there you all have it I’m on this journey. Good luck to everyone and Lynn my god you are an inspiration to us all and thank you And if you do crave a biscuit have one and get straight back on Sometimes depriving yourself makes it worse.

When I went on holiday in June I stopped it and have never got back to it. The weight has piled on again and I am back to being tired and lethargic. It’s good to hear you are making changes. Can I offer the suggestion of investigating ultra processed foods, look up Chris Van Tulken as a start. Once you realise what is actually in most of the food you buy you should loose the desire to eat it. Since cutting out the UPF foods and eating proper food , and I thought I was eating quite healthy, the excess weight disappeared without effort and I dropped two dress sizes. The health benefits have been amazing. I am coming up to 72 and enjoying being back to a healthy weight.

Hi Lynne, thank you. Of course, any advice is more than welcome. I will look them up for sure, I do eat a lot of fresh food, but there are things in my cupboard that are processed, like tinned peas, etc. I am getting very interested in what’s actually in these foods, and I will definitely try and find an alternative if possible. I can’t do everything all at once, because my husband has to have the things that he likes, but I don’t need to eat them. I’m really happy for you, you must be very proud of yourself. ❤️❤️❤️

Good for you Lynn. This year ive had a terrible time with IBS. Ive cut out all wheat, dairy & sugar products, & im also doing intermittent fasting. 9-5 is my eating window. Im a morning person, so that works for me. Ive done this before when i had really bad arthritis & couldnt operate the clutch in my car. As a result of this i lost 2 stone & no longer had arthritis. I hope it works as well this time. Good luck to you. Keep going, its so worth it. X

Hi Lynne. I started the IF/time restricted eating about 2 years ago, when I was a similar age to you. The reason mainly due to digestive issues. The weight loss of about 1.5 stone was a bonus. Im 71 now and extremely healthy and able to have treats., go on holiday etc and stll maintain. I do regular exercise, mainly walking.
The role of insulin is very important in regulating body weight, its worth looking into that to get an understanding. Best of luck 🤞 xxx

Feel your pain Lynn! Like you have decided to get a grip on life and sort my diet out. Not just cutting down but eating healthier. Let’s worry about clothes being too big later but think I shall rise to the shopping challenge very well! Can’t wait! I think too many holidays have been a factor,,,not the food, I usually eat sensibly but it is all the sugar in the drinks! I know the answer is not to drink alcohol but that isn’t going to happen on holiday! At home I only drink one day a week! Let’s see how we go. Good luck!xxxxx Liz

Hi Lynn. Shall I tell you the problem. We kid ourselves that eating all this crap is okay. The easiest way to start is.... Don't have the bloody stuff in the house. Don't buy it. I'm 5'3 7st 11. 63 years. Don't accept that weight gain is menapausal or age. It's not. You're kidding yourself that 3 biscuits are better than 4. A treat is once a week. Not every day. You don't eat until you're full. I don't do that. I eat breakfast and dinner, befor6pm. The sugar buisness is lethal. You are changing your diet in a sensible way. I keep my weight stable because I have the knowledge. It's not rocket science. People are just making excuses all the time. I've done this myself. Good luck Lynn. If you haven't got it in the house you can't eat it. Xxxx

I tend to agree. Personally I don't have biscuits in the house routinely. My 'desert' is a yogurt. Sugar is addictive to me so once I've had a chocolate bar or a cake I just want more and more. That's not to say I don't build an occasional treat into my intermittent fasting routine but I'll just have it instead of a meal on that particular day.

This is absolutely right Lynn you really need to watch your sugar its the root of all evil, there is high amounts of sugar in so many things we eat and don't realise how badly it can affect your health and of course your weight, ditch them biscuits ❤

I agree I don’t buy biscuits etc if the grandchildren are coming round I buy them and send what they don’t eat home with them. I’ve lost 4 stone now still got a way to go but I dint think it’s the menopause that’s the cause it’s just overeating that’s done it.

I agree with you. Why buy biscuits , crisps etc and have them in the house. My grandchildren have yogurt or fruit if they come round and my only snack is fruit or a low calorie ice lolly. Once a week I have a treat out of the house. I don’t do intermittent fasting as like my breakfast before going to the gym. Good luck with your weight loss, interested to follow your progress.

Hi Lynn, wow you’re starting a movement! I think it is great what you are doing and grateful that you are sharing the journey. While you were talking I wondered about a couple of things. You mentioned IBS and introducing whole meal bread back into your diet. It may be an idea to but some fresh baker’s bread rather than ready sliced, as things are put into sliced packeted bread to keep it moist for longer. Freshly made baker’s bread may be better for you, even if it is frozen. Also I follow an American doctor’s UA-cam who seems to talk a lot of sense about eating/drinking and exercise even done in a chair etc. Also he is not selling anything unlike a lot of others! Recently he was talking about tea drinking (a special green tea) and other drinks with turmeric, garlic powder, lemon and honey etc. His name is Dr Alan Mandell. Channel name something like motivational.doc. Hope you progress and reach your goals.

Someone else said about the bread, I don’t eat very much of it at all, but I will either buy some fresh, or make some, I didn’t even look at the ingredients in the shop bought bread till last night, and I’m not eating anymore of it, the additives are off the scale. Yesterday my hubby and I attended are 1st class on diabetes the doctor said are sugar was slightly over the limit and if we didn’t do anything about it in a year or two we’d be type 2 diabetic. Have to say it was very interesting and very informative. We go twice a month till February then once a month till next September. Why till then ? they say records show that it take 9 months for people to change there ways and get used to a new way of eating. His first words were don’t go at it like bull in a china shop lol He said it’s not about cutting things out of your diet completely it’s choosing the lower sugar / less fat options they give you a little chart to keep in your bag so you can check the the % of things you must not go over. He told us to eat 3 times a day and try not to snack. They did weigh everyone so we’ll see in 2 weeks time how we get on. Good luck with your new eating plan . X❤

That’s interesting Wendy, what a good service for people. I just need to lose some quickly for the follow up appointment I have, but your Dr has talked about the most sensible approach if you can afford the time. Good luck with your new way of eating, let me know how you get on ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Lynn, i love eating biscuits as well, and need to stop, i bought a bag of frozen mixed fruit with strawberries, berries etc, and snack on that, I found it helps with my sweet tooth!

I can relate to how and when you snack, I am a chocoholic plus I live in a retirement village where we have a very full social life with lots of desserts, cakes etc. Evenings are shocking as it is as you say, sitting down watching T V after dinner and then I need something sweet!
For the next few weeks I am also not able to exercise as I gave gad a foot op and am sitting most of the day....I am 5ft 1inch and weigh about 72kg. (11 stone....) My weight has never been like this before. You have inspired me to do something - to say no to sugary foods! Thank you. ❤

Aw Diane, I know how you feel, it’s so hard when it’s all around you. Someone suggested to me to airfryer some assorted nuts and seeds, for a healthy snack, but then nuts are quite high in calories too, so you just don’t know what to do. I can say toy hand on heart, I’m not missing the snacking, and I’ve only been doing it for 2 weeks, it’s like giving yourself the eating window, gives you the strength you need, I just know not to eat after 6.30-7. I haven’t even had my 3 biscuits for the last 2 nights, it’s worth a try Diane, especially while your foot is sore and your not going to the social events, an ideal time to start. Good luck, you can do it ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Lynn another great video and very interested to see how you go on. Please can I ask what the gut food is you were talking about. I constantly feel bloated and think it might help me. I’m overweight too and just want to start feeling better about myself so anything that might help is very welcome. Thank you in advance and good luck x

    • @Nanna-M
      @Nanna-M  Місяць тому

Hi Susan, yes the gut feel is a supergreen supplement that you can add to any meal, like a stew or casserole, you can add it to yoghurt, drink it in some healthy juice etc. it’s a powder, and it works on your gut to feed it with good stuff. The company I use is called RHEAL, they have different supplements for different things, but the gut feel is the one for bloating and IBS. It’s worked wonders for me, I take a heaped teaspoon every day. I’ll give you the link to the website in case you want to check it out, www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwip_NqWn-CJAxXyolAGHdf8BVUYABABGgJkZw&co=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqfzalp_giQMV8qJQBh3X_AVVEAAYASAAEgLOUvD_BwE&sig=AOD64_0kAPHSSMdyGaSYmP4tW6o_gHye7Q&q&adurl&ved=2ahUKEwi4s9OWn-CJAxXEZ0EAHWEhAAQQ0Qx6BAgLEAE good luck if you try it ❤️❤️❤️

Lynn I started doing IF 3 years ago I lost 8lb and I’ve kept if off. The first two weeks I was extremely tired. It did help with portion control and I don’t eat as much now. But I think I plateaued. You have to mix it up and maybe to two meals a day or one meal a day (OMAD).good luck

Hi Lynn, thanks for telling us about your new way of eating. Im trying to do this at the moment. Honestly, I know where your coming from with the night time cravings, that is my undoing as well. Something definately tells me that I have to have something naughty. I need to do it so that my clothes fit me instead of being unable to close zips on skirts/trousers. Lots of nice clothes I can no longer wear and not buying a larger size. Good luck and you are spurring me on. Love Jean ❤❤xx

I hope you join the journey, I know you have lots of lovely clothes, much love to you Jean ❤️❤️❤️

    Hi Lynn,
This intermittent fasting is a good thing, and if you can exercise as well... the weight will fall off! I've been unconsciously doing it for years, but that is only because I'm not really interested in food as much as I was when I was younger. Biscuits, chocolate, crisps and other snacks don't really bother me either.... daft isn't it! You're right, it's a new way of eating... not a diet. Good luck with your journey 😊 ❤ xxx

Fabulous little video Lynn, and how strange that I started intermittent fasting a couple of weeks ago too. 👏 I’m the same age height and weight as you so it will be interesting to see how it goes. I have dipped my toes in previously but for different reasons fell off the wagon. This time I am doing it 100% when I am able but if the odd day (or holidays) make it difficult, I’m going to accept it and then get back on when I am able. I totally agree with everything you say and I’m also doing it for the health benefits but I’ve already lost 4lbs which I am delighted with. I have a healthy snack idea if you are interested
. Each week I roast a batch of mixed nuts and seeds in my air fryer. I usually roast cashews, pistachios, walnuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. You can use any of your choice. They are absolutely delicious and a healthy source of protein too. I have a small handful during the day if I feel “snacky” but also crush them to use on top of yoghurt and also in a mixed salad too. Good luck on your journey Lynn 🥰

Wow well done on the weight loss Susan, I’m the same as you, last Sunday tea time we went for an Indian meal, I just ate till I was full, I stead of eating everything in front of to me, and we’d finished before 6.30 pm but I enjoyed it very much. If I feel like a treat I’ll definitely try the roasted nuts, how long did you cook them for if you don’t mind telling me, I’m very interested indeed. I love nuts, and I do like some crunch on yoghurts and in salads. Thanks for the tip. On Sunday I’ll have done full up q weeks, so I’m hoping the scales will be kind lol. We shall see 🤞 ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks Lynn. It really is so adaptable isn’t it and I too don’t feel deprived at all. We had our two little granddaughters to stay last weekend and that was a bit tricky, but I did my best and got back into the routine again on Monday. Regarding roasting the nuts (the recipe came from a chef at a Health Retreat video). You can roast them in the oven the same way as making granola and give them a quick shake. I do mine in the air fryer on roast for around 5 mins again keep checking and shaking. The natural oils come out of the nuts and give a lovely roast flavour. I hope you like them too. I usually store mine in a jar once cooled and use during the week as required. Pop some in a bag and lightly crush and top your fruit and yoghurt - delish 🥰 I do have another recipe for a fruit compote that is super easy too. It’s made with beetroot juice (sounds rank I know 🤣) but you don’t taste it and it’s full of healthy vitamins, chia seeds and frozen berries defrosted. I make this for the week too, top with Greek yoghurt and crushed roasted nuts - so good 😍

Hi Lynne - Unfortunately I love breakfast so the fasting is not for me but I did lose almost 2 stone just altering my diet and cutting out things that aren’t good for my cholesterol. I don’t have carbs every day and serve my meals on a small plate which helps with portion sizes. It works for me but I enjoy hearing about your way and look forward to seeing what you eat in a day ❤❤

The bloating is my biggest concern as it gets very uncomfortable. I don't know what I ate the other day but I was so uncomfortable and before anybody says anything, I dont eat a lot of biscuits or cake, it is just random. l have never really been a breakfast eater so I kind of do intermittent fasting. I have started having apple cider vinegar and drinking peppermint tea. Good luck Lynn and I look forward to seeing how you get on. Btw I don't think 3 biscuits a day is going to hurt you, blooming heck your nearly 70 got to have some pleasures.❤

My daughter is the same, and it’s more or less instant, her belly goes from flat as a pancake to 7-8 months pregnant. We couldn’t work out what was causing it so she payed for a food intolerance test, and the results were unbelievable. It might be worth you thinking about that for yourself, at least then you would know what to avoid. The IF is working for me at the moment and for the last 2 nights I haven’t even had the 3 biscuits, but I’ll see how I go on, once I’ve been back for the follow up appointment I’ll let myself have that little pleasure again for sure. Thank you Margot ❤️❤️❤️
