We have been here 51 years and not once have we had Christmas dinner on the beach or even outside, it's much too hot. Ooh delicious recipe. We use Puff pastry for ham and cheese pinwheels and between Xmas and New Year i do a massice sausage roll with sausage meat from the Butcher's 😋

It looked beautiful Lynn, but I am nervous about the puff pastry on the inside, as puff really needs the heat to hit the pastry so you get that typical rise,and crispness,and rolled like that it can’t happen to the inside layers,I am thinking if you just encased the filling without rolling, you wouldn’t get the uncooked interior pastry. It’s the same as when they only use puff for the top of pies, though puff is good for turnovers, or vol - au- vents, but it doesn’t work well on the bottom of a pie, it just steams. I also think this recipe could work well with short crust pastry. If you don’t post till after Christmas, then I wish you all a very Merry Christmas ❤😊❤
It seemed to be cooked when I ate it so perhaps I was just lucky. It may be wise to cut it up into portions and cook that way rather than a whole roll. I’ve never used it on the bottom of a pie, but I have done whirls before and that worked out ok. Like spirals if you will. Hi I do similar to this with home made short crust pasty. I put mincemeat as my fillings. I cut into skinny whirls all along. Makes a nice alternative to mince pies as sometimes you dont want a load ofmincemeat. It gives just a taster. I think puff pastry rolled like yhis is a bit of a hit n miss is it cooked type thing. PS. I woukdnt use poppy seeds as I have an anaphylactic allergy to them. - very annoying as they get put on so much stuff that is pre made!
