Brian loved The Lads, they were his first group to manage. The five of them connected at the perfect time in their lives. Then he built up a nice collection of singers to represent. But Cilla, she was his beloved girl. He loved managing her and watching her career blossom.
I could listen to this take on this song over and over. As a traveling classical guitarist i has my not so good gigs, but then i have my most wonderful times of playing. I think she knew she really pulled it off, and very pleased with herself.when one performs much one can get burned out and playing or singing can be work and straining. Cilla, here is very relaxed and rested plus a lot at stake with the Beatles in attendance.
Get past the hype, the association with Brian Epstein and the Beatles and George Martin, The biopic, Etc and she's basically a belter. I prefer Dusty Springfield and Helen Shapiro.
I agree that their were better singers than Cilla, but this song is a perfect one for her to "belt"out! i don't think anyone else could do this song as well as her.
Dusty is a very special talent, a world class act. Petula was great in the same way as Julie Andrews, Sandie was also good with or without shoes, but Cilla was everyone’s sister, the public loved her. Lest we forget someone still singing and a great 60’s girl is Lulu.
La mejor cantante Cila❤️aunque ya no está sigue aquí cautivando en la tierra 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is Cillas best take of this song. Singing without strain.

Beautiful. Very nicely done. Very powerful voice.
I loved this . My first 45 record, I couldn’t afford it so it was a present . I was a very young kid, after all.
