  • The third installment in manufacturing a carbon fibre wing for use on a race car. This video finishes off the shaping of the wing and I make the actual wing skin.
    Per my usual procedure:
    The build starts straight away.
The lessons learned start at 14:10
    The materials being used:
    - Kinetix R246 / H126
    - 300gsm biaxial Stitched Carbon Fibre (Easy Composites)
    - 200 GSM 2x2 Twill Carbon Fibre (Beyond Materials)
If you have any projects you want help on hit me up through my website contact page and we shall see what we can do. www.chapmaneng.com
The wing calculator spreadsheet is available through my website at: chapmaneng.com... If you have any questions or suggestions about it please drop me a line.
The airfoil data came from: www.airfoiltool...
X-Foil information is at their website here: web.mit.edu/dr...
Did I say check out my website? I like it, I made it (it needs work) www.chapmaneng.com

Nifty method pre-wetting the carbon and transferring over with the plastic.
Also wish my shears were as nice as yours! Mine always fluff the edges of the cut :(
Bit of extra work but looks pretty good in the end. Keen to see it in action!

Cheers mate. The shears are from easy composites, they work really well (though the handles get a bit rough on the hands after a bit).
I hope you're well down south, you guys seem to be doing pretty well numbers wise. Stay safe.

Use medium or thick cyanoacrylate (super glue) with an activator to bond the sections together. This method gives you time to align the pieces, tape in place, then a quick spray with the activator and you're all set.

Glad you like it! I've got to try and finish it in the next month and a bit for my friend, so hopefully part 4 will be out soonish.
