Step 4: Greet 10 people on the street.
I remember when I used to watch LAHWF channel, he used to make videos of walking down the street and randomly asking for directions from people, or he would make weird laughs out of nowhere 😂, compliment people, etc. He was known for his awkward character but that didn't stop him from doing all of that. And from that, I gained some confidence to follow what he did like smiling at people, asking for directions and I felt so happy I did it 😊

It's beautiful how after you acknowledge your fears and accept them with grace, you can become a brave and courageous person, because you did that and many people just run away but you faced it, and sometimes, that's enough... as a side note, I recommend Jetavanaramaya Buddhist Monestary's videos on fear, they massively help! listening to the Monk's talks there, has helped me understand my emotions better and helped me become a much more compassionate and emotionally strong human being! so , my brother, I hope my comment helps you! I have social anxiety and it's pretty bad but recently I gave my highschooll graduation speech after weeks of going back and forth between doing it or not and I was about to cancel it last minute but I was like I volunteered to do it and I took the responsibility so I gotta own up to it. I did pretty great!!! This is me the one who couldn't even make phone call orders from fast food places. Me who can barely talk to people her own age. And I was like that until the moment before I got on the podium! What I mean to say is that sometimes you just need to take one huge step and then it'll be much easier to get over your social anxiety. Of course I didn't get over my social anxiety entirely but that speech helped a GREAT deal!!

I have been struggling with social phobia since 2019, but after the pandemic, I feel like I forgot how to be human and act like one. Just today, I was supposed to participate in a test to work at a company I really want to join because I need a job. But, after greeting the evaluators, I became so nervous and intimidated that I simply hung up the video call. I just ran away. I feel like I’m the very embodiment of shame. Certainly! Building confidence is a lot like tackling a big fear-it’s about taking small, consistent steps. This speaker’s story about snakes nails it: breaking down fears into manageable steps, like watching documentaries before visiting the zoo, is such a solid approach. In social settings, gradual exposure, like sending a voice message or making small talk, can work wonders.
Plus, a touch of humor from programs like Habit10x’s Sense of Humor Improvement Program can lighten interactions. Just keep pushing forward-growth is a journey, and each step counts!

I think another thing to add to this video is starting small looks different to everyone. In the example of fear of heights: lets say you are fine with the height standing on a step from a staircase, a stool, even halfway from a 12 foot latter, but you start feeling that fear when you are on the 7th step of the 12foot latter. So thats where you start. But you might have another person that feels that same fear standing on a stool.
In the case of this video maybe sending a voice note sounds wayyy too much. Its important that the fear is there when you do these exercises but it has to be manageable. So maybe start by sending a voice note to someone you are really comfortable with and you can practoce what you are going to say before hand. But you have to feel some of that fear. If you dont feel fear in this step,Great! you can go a bit further.
For me, sending voice notes and even sending videos is fine. But asking the store clerk 3 questions... starts to feel a little rocky.
Ask yourself when do you start to feel socially anxious? you can even test it out. You can even "trace your steps". Like you start from a point where you know you feel super socially anxious, then think "okay when do I feel 10% less than this" and you keep going until you hit your starting point.
      I hope this helps.

Is there any wonder I've got social anxiety and lacking many many social skills. Thank you opening my mind to the causes of my crippling social anxiety. Part of my social anxiety had to be with my ADHD and Autism. I don't beleive I was ever good at reading body language. Now I'm on medications for it and trying to learn how to talk and communicate better with others. I excercised by walking around at the mall when I was sorta scared but nobody cared because they were in their own world. Once I've started taking medications I'm not afraid of small talk anymore while waiting in lines either. Lol I'm doing it!

I'm so socially awkward. I always think before speaking. Like.. I'd imagine different scenarios of what might happen and how would the conversion go if I start speaking. Most of the time, it works. And tbh it's better to observe and listen to others carefully before speaking. Speaking unnecessarily when there's no need to speak could lear to many bad outcomes. So when I'm around people, let's say my relations or social gathering, I always remain silent and observe and only speak when there's a need or when others start a conversation. I was fine with my character until I realised that even when it's for the best, people won't always appreciate persons like me. So here I am!

Learn how to keep those kinds of conversations going and how to end them when you’re finished. Then move on to small talk with people at stores. If they’re uninterested, move on to the next person.

In listening to this video, I realize that I've been doing this gradual exposure method with the topic of death & dying. I've come to know at a deep level that death is as natural as birth. Something that I feared greatly, I now embrace. I sit with reverence and care next to those who are transitioning from their physical bodies and returning to spirit. It is such a beautiful experience. I no longer fear death when it becomes my natural time to release back into the fullness of spirit. In my life in general, when I recognize I have resistance about something, I reach for it and it becomes my next area of practice until the resistance falls away...it's freeing. 🕊🤍 Thank you for making this video and for your channel.

I used to have social anxiety disorder but it just dissapeared randomly so there's this awkwardness between me and society.
Because of the anxiety, i was always in my head thinking of what others thought of me, But then i accepted the Anxiety and how it makes me feel sometimes,
The upset stomach, the blushing, the sweating, the trembling, even throwing up.
Now after a while i started to look in other people's perspectives which might sound contradictory but to other people,
I'm just a random guy, why *Would* they judge me? Even if it is Aquaintences or friends you don't need to feel tensed up always, They won't judge you, if anything it might make you look more needy and stuff
It's okay to share how you feel with them to share the uncomfort so u both grow comfortable together
Even if it's hard, it's not like it's gonna get harder just take small steps at a time and also do what he says in the video, exposure therapy too
The more you get used to social conversations, confrontations the more your body will too,
Now i'm speaking in a social anxiety disorder viewpoint this might not apply to you but it's always important to take small babysteps at a time

The only problem is my country people think to much talking and greeting is such a cheap stuff. So they don't talk that much and I feel so awkward. If I ask someone "how're you?" They'll just stare at me like I'm a lost kid....! Bruhh that's too awkward. I don't hv any friends here too..

"Send a voice message to your friend"
Failed Step 1: I don't have any friends
I've been meaning to overcome my anxiety to meet people, But, Whenever I had the courage, Those friends didn't last long (a day or two)
So I'd love a video on how to make a friend and keep a friend you've just met!
Because I have tried so many tactics, But nothing works!

Hi Vihn, thanks a lot for your videos! Could you explain a topic about stuttering in the future? I've been stuttering almost all of my life, now I'm 31 and I almost won the problem, but I'm still stuttering when I have job interviews, where people estimate me. I know a lot of guys who stutter, it's one of the biggest problems with our oral skills. Can you explain somewhere in the future, how to cope with this problem? Thanks!

But in my city, no one greets strangers let alone make small talk. They'll look at you weird and avoid you if you start talking to them. What should I do?

I am not sure I agree. Fear of snakes or heights is phobia. That is not the same as social anxiety. That's different. Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is fearing others will judge us and ridicule us. Regret he is totally off the point and talking about phobias and not social anxiety.
Secondly, not all cultures readily engage in such conversations with strangers. Maybe to him it's easy as he is popular..

Isn’t it just one phobia to another? Social Anxiety is a phobia of rejection or judgement. Being in public situations will definitely desensitize you to this unless it’s stems from a validation issue.

Is there a reason why your editor cuts after every sentence and changes the zoom. It's so distracting and seems like such a weird choice
