"Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things" - Tom Petty
I could watch this a million times over. These masters at work, Toms smile. The sound. Wish I could get this hooked up to my ole stereo receiver and speakers and makes these walls hum.
Tears. Just heard of Tom's passing. I saw myself in so many of his songs. Saw him with the Heartbreakers and Mudcrutch. Going to be listening to Petty for the rest of my life. Rest well, Brother.
Damn good. All of them. Mike C and Tom L, just mesh so well with TP on bass. Randall and Benmont just tie it all together. I’m sad this won’t happen again.
I really enjoy all the expressions on Tom Petty’s face as he listen’s and watches this most excellent band “Mudcrutch” he is either thinking “wow look what I’ve created or he is thinking wow look what these guys have created “!🧚🏻♂️🎸and at the very end of this song he has this great smile and ornery look as if he is saying “yep their the best band of all times along side with ‘The Heartbreakers abs two other bands.🌼✌️
Real musicians who love playing, god help us when they are all gone and we're left with the I want to be a star generation, some even want to emulate Robbie Williams and co
So glad I got to see TP & the Heartbreakers multiple times. Including shortly before Tom's passing. Got to see Mike Campbell with Fleetwood Mac shortly after. Whether they go by Mudcrutch or Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This group is as good as any group to ever grace the stage. Long live TP and all the great music he left for us. When you rank the best Guitar players. Mike Campbell is right there at the top. He shreds guitar and makes it look so easy.
Catfish pie In gris gris bag I'm the lover of the bayou Pack your doorstep With a half wet rag I'm the lover of the bayou I was raised and swam With the crocodile Snake-eye taught me The Mojo style Sucked and weaned On chicken bile I'm the lover of the bayou I learned the key To the master lock Learned to float In the water clock Learned to capture The lightning shock I'm the lover of the bayou And I got cat's an' teeth And hair for sale I'm the lover of the bayou And there are zombies On your tail I'm the lover of the bayou I cooked a bat In a gumbo pan I drank the blood From a rusty can Turned me Into the Hunger Man I'm the lover of the bayou Yeah
Mudcrutch is the best album Petty has done in decades (and he's done some good ones)....I was lucky enough to see Leadon guest with the Heartbreakers in Atlanta in '08. Winwood opened with a 65 minute set. He then returned to play Can't Find My Way Home and Gimme Some Lovin' with the Heartbreakers. Leadon came out later and they did Scare Easy andand Lover of the Bayou. What a night.
Wow good for you. I’m jealous! I think Mudcrutch is one of the best band I’ve ever heard I didn’t know about them until 2010, of course I knew and loved Tom Petty and The Heartbreaker’s but I Just didn’t know........😔 a lot very cool beautiful music. Take care.Excellent song”Lover Of The Bayou”
There was a documentary about the heartbreakers - the most of which was filmed in there space- That place is full of treasures. The guitar collection was staggering- RIP Tom. and god bless the rest of the boys.
The original had the legendary Clarence White on lead guitar playing a Telecaster. Clarence White had an admirer named Jimi Hendrix. Roger McGuinn handed the majority of the lead chores to Clarence during his tenure with the Byrds.
Here's a Byrds live version of "Lover of the Bayou" from the Colden Center in Queens, February 1970. Clarence cooks. ua-cam.com/video/tszBQdkTmHM/v-deo.html&start_radio=1
I like Petty's economical approach to playing bass. You might even say it's minimalist, but it really works! That little four-note riff he keeps repeating moves the music forward.
Marty Stuart owns the original Clarence White Tele with Bbender ... I saw him play it with the Fabulous Superlatives when they were functioning as the Byrds behind McGuinn and Hillman last November
The Byrds song, exemplifying the Petty/Campbell/Tench triumvirate. (Note the left-handed neck on Tom's right-hand Ric bass and the shot of the indispensible microwave oven at 1.49).
Holy crap I didn’t notice that about his bass. And I’m a bass player too. Only noticed it’s not the stereo model with the wedge fret makers. Same model as McCartney. The devil been tempting me for years to buy one.
Gdy tylko publiczność zechce się zagłębić i poświęcić trochę czasu odkryje i pozna kim jest facet, który tak wspaniale gra na gitarze w zespole Heartbreakers-to Mik.
Sort of love that Petty played with his "launch" band again, for a bit. @Roger, they all leave us eventually. Just listen to their work, best way to honor their memory.
This is one of those "TURN IT UP AND WAKE UP THE NEIGHBORS" songs, definitely.
Then, you play Soundgarden.
Heck yeah 😂
Mike Campbell might be the best lead guitarist the public doesn't know by name.
in my opinion he is
For real
So true.
really...
It is the truth and anyone who doesn't know is just uneducated on the subject.
Mike Campbell the most underrated and not known Guitarists of all time he's amazing
"Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things" - Tom Petty
Guitar speaks 'crawdad' here. Never heard such expression from ANY guitarist. Ever. Mike has to be the best.
Rory Gallagher js
Tom looked really happy here. Hope he knew what joy and happiness he brought his millions of fans around the world. He lives on through his music.
He was playing his favorite music, southern blues-rock...the best
He was never happier than when covering the Byrds.
Indeed
He knew.
Benmont looks like he is pissed.
Nothing says "forever" as Petty's smile does at the end of this video.
Mike Campbell plays that amazing guitar like it’s easy❤️. Rock on Mike 🎶
The raised eyebrows at the end tells you they nailed that one, and is almost saying "Follow that!!" What a song!!
Fuck dude, I've been grieving since Monday. Tom Petty is my whole heart and soul. Rock in peace man. 💜💘
Still grieving, three years later. It has a long half life.
And still
Same.
Clarence White ~ 1944 - 1973 ~ R.I.P.
The first Mudcrutch album is one of the best things Tom Petty has ever done. A shame this band flew under the radar, they deserve more love!
50 yards outside my backdoor is where the old Mudcrutch farm sat for years. Oh, the music I missed by just a decade...
I love the guitars here but the drums and piano are soooo good on this classic Roger McGuinn song.
Same. :( RIP TOM
Damn good. All of them. Mike C and Tom L, just mesh so well with TP on bass. Randall and Benmont just tie it all together. I’m sad this won’t happen again.
Mike Campbell is a god damn genius!! Love him!!!!!!!!!!
I think he living in the moment and thinking, “It don’t get any better than this “.
I’ll never get over “Lover Of The Bayou” and his talent will always blow me away. For me he is truly beautiful!🙄🎸😎🥰😔
People know Mike.....talent can’t hide.
To my Gainesville & Interlauchen Family, how blessed we were. Best fish fries hush puppies grits ever! Fondest memories. RIP Tom Petty 🙏

Tom Petty, the best ever. Fantastic.
Real musicians who love playing, god help us when they are all gone and we're left with the I want to be a star generation, some even want to emulate Robbie Williams and co
MC is off the wall ridiculous! Never tire of watching GOOD TO BE KING Gatorville ‘06
A great Byrds song played by a great band. Corporate radio ignored both versions...
Almost 7 billion human beings on our planet ignore this southern rock jewel...
This.

This is The Byrds best Legacy...RIP dudes.
That Tom Petty smile says it all. Simply fantastic 🎶
Beautiful smile at the end...RIP miss u
That look guitarist Tom Leadon does watching guitarist Mike Campbell shred @3:38 ...respect and priceless
No shit Priceless!!
Thought I was the only one that seen it
Just the Best American artists of All Time!! End of story.
Mike's playing and his tone are off the chart. Turn it up
Missing him, top hat & all!! There'll never be another like him..a real diamond in the rough..
4 yrs .... Shredding it in heaven Tom
That's the way rock and roll feels
This is the way real rock and roll records are made....
So badass. A legend gone to soon.
Some of these guys are no longer with us, but they will always be in our hearts anyway.
Tom L RIP , you are fantastic
Benmont!...the best and what an added sound for the band
What a BAND ! -- There's NOBODY like them!
Nice to see Tom kept his loyalty to Rickenbacker even when switching to bass
OH MY MY--TOM AND MIKE STILL DOING IT LIKE NO OTHERS! LOVE THIS!!!
So glad I got to see TP & the Heartbreakers multiple times. Including shortly before Tom's passing. Got to see Mike Campbell with Fleetwood Mac shortly after. Two words: Fantastic album
In my Petty playlist with The Byrds playing it live in London, 1971.
This song still kicks my ass! I can listen to It morning, noon or night time! ✌️🧚🏻♂️
He will be so missed. I 've seen him at least a dozen times in & around Nashville, Tenn.
Great cover of a Byrds classic … Mike Campbell playing B-Bender Tele, appropriately enough
RIP Tom Leadon🥀
Fantastic , I’m a lover of the bayou too
Catfish pie
In gris gris bag
I'm the lover of the bayou
Pack your doorstep
With a half wet rag
I'm the lover of the bayou
I was raised and swam
With the crocodile
Snake-eye taught me
The Mojo style
Sucked and weaned
On chicken bile
I'm the lover of the bayou
I learned the key
To the master lock
Learned to float
In the water clock
Learned to capture
The lightning shock
I'm the lover of the bayou
And I got cat's an' teeth
And hair for sale
I'm the lover of the bayou
And there are zombies
On your tail
I'm the lover of the bayou
I cooked a bat
In a gumbo pan
I drank the blood
From a rusty can
Turned me
Into the Hunger Man
I'm the lover of the bayou
Yeah
I think MOP your doorstep with a half wet rag, makes more sense. Jacques is dead so we'll never know.

abbgt Wow!! That sounds like a great concert.
Don't change nothing. Simply perfect !
Petty is as close to being a Byrd as you can be and it is their only chance of getting this song back...They just own this one now.

I think that might Clarence's tele he's playing - definitely has a B-bender
@@JimmySlattery - Naa-ah, the Country music star Marty Stuart has Clarence's B-Bender. Mike Campbell has one, though - good catch!

Wow just wow. Brilliant. Love it.
One of my favourite covers! I also love to jam out to this one with my band!
Pure Bliss, Crank it Up, Share with your Neighbors, Educate
I like Petty's economical approach to playing bass. You might even say it's minimalist, but it really works! That little four-note riff he keeps repeating moves the music forward.
Que guitarrista mas elegante Mike Campbell....la piel de gallina en cada esquirla de cancion
Love Tom Petty
Damn-it Mike now I got to go find my jaw that dropped off (again)!
miss you Tom.
Tommy Leadon co wrote one of my favorite hidden Eagles gems-Hollywood Waltz.
Marty Stuart owns the original Clarence White Tele with Bbender ... I saw him play it with the Fabulous Superlatives when they were functioning as the Byrds behind McGuinn and Hillman last November
Did I see a nail in Belmont's piano at the end of that? Guess they nailed it.
To be a fly in that room. Thanks for the memories...
Mike Campbell is the most underrated guitarist of all time
Amen to that bro 🎸 👍, saw hendrix Clapton, this dude is equal to them 😄, 🎸🎸👌

Great Byrds cover , and remember too another great songwriter , Jacques Levy , who composed the song with Roger McGuinn .
Helped Dylan write a lot of his Desire album too.
He co-wrote a number of strong songs with McGuinn. Many are on the Untitled album.
Best version of the song by far.
Damn that was good. Miss ya so much TP
It's a shame Tom has left us cuz he was such a strappin man !! Wooooohoooo!!😍😘
to have lived and loved on it makes one a lover of the bayou.
Nice to listening while driving in the usa!
Sort of love that Petty played with his "launch" band again, for a bit. @Roger, they all leave us eventually. Just listen to their work, best way to honor their memory.
I really like Tom Leadon's solo on the 335.
Tom blissing out at 4:06.
Wow...Incredible
Man this guy is still telling that i am in the right place ,and he has been disembodied for a while now
