I just bought a KitchenAid Heavy duty 325 watt 5 quart stand mixer with bowl lift. It's used, I bought it in a local thrift store just today. It runs really nice. Haven't made anything with it yet. Thank you for showing how the attachments go on and how to get the bowl on. I always wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer and I'm pleased to start out with this one. It is in such good condition that I'm guessing it wasn't used much. Judging from the little KitchenAid cookbook that came with it that it's probably about 15 or 20 years old. I love homemade bread but have trouble kneading because of my back and I'm not too thrilled with making bread dough in my bread machine. I'm devouring tutorials (thank goodness for UA-cam) and I'm looking forward to trying this out tomorrow. Best wishes from Ohio.

I've had mine for 18 years and love the fact that attachments still fit it, I have most of them. Also if it ever needs fixing, I can still get parts for it. It is still going strong and I use it a couple of times a week - a real boon in lockdown when I went baking crazy.

I had mine for 20 years and it's as good as the the day I got it. This brand is for a lifetime because I don't see any sign it's gonna break any time soon. So glad that I had invested in this brand back then. I don't know about the new verion but mine is 5K5SS is a wow mixture.🥰

Hi, I just bought mine I’ve never had a kitchen aid brand before, is it normal for speed 4 to not work? Or is mine faulty?

I bake about once a month, mostly cookies, and almost exclusively use the rubber flex edge beater. I never have to stop and scrap the bowl😎 It is well worth the $25 or so price.

I have the bowl lift model I inherited from my father-in-law 20 years ago.
Believe her when she says "always start out on low!"
I got my first job at a pizza joint at age 12. They used a machine called a Hobart to make their dough. Now, a Hobart is basically a Kitchenaid with a thyroid condition. It looks exactly like a Kitchenaid, but it's about 4 feet tall. The owner told me to load it with a sack of flour, some yeast and water, and mix it on number 3.
As you can imagine, it didn't end well! I had to clean the entire kitchen, which took 3 days!
So yes, always start on 1 and work your way up!

I have had my Kitchen Aid Mixer for 20 years, was the best mixer I have ever bought, more than worth the money even on sale, creaming butter & sugar it is the best, use to hand cream everything tough on the hand, could not be happier I have a Kitchen Aid.

Finally a video that shows how to attach the metal bowl on the lift mixer. Mine seemed like it took too much pressure to snap it into place so I thought I was doing something wrong. This video makes it very obvious that I am doing things correctly. THANK YOU!

Love my KA Artisan named Poppy. I bought her as a refurbished model for a steal. Since I live in Ecuador a friend brought her down for me. In 10 months she has paid for herself. I make two loaves of bread 3 or 4 times a week and she handles 6 cups of flour very well. I had a KA for 30 years, which I gave away before I moved from the U.S. to South America. I missed it so much. I am so happy to have one here where we cook from scratch. Poppy and my Cuisinart food processor are my best kitchen tools. Thanks for the informative review.

I was so happy to find this video. My daughter moved in while going to school and brought her mixer. She has to no tilt head which was a little confusing to me since I found it messy to remove the paddle with food in the bowl. I also did not attached the bowl correctly and it moved. From this video I understand what I should do and it made it so much easier. I agree this mixer is very good at what it does. I am thinking of buying one for me since my daughter will be moving out soon. Thanks for such a good video

The white paddle attachment is the very same one as the one you are calling "the all metal" paddle. It is simply coated to prevent the metal (aluminum) from reacting with acids which may be in some of the recipes a person makes with the mixer. The bare aluminum one you prefer is no stronger than the white one but it will react with some foods and this is generally not wanted.

I have a very old kitchen aid. I can not find attachments for it ( lost in a move). The pin at the side of the shaft won't allow for the "placement" of the attachments. I special ordered ( 3rd time trying) to find some that would work.
I got some accessory that did fit the thickness of the shaft but not the pin. I never noticed if the pin was suppose to push in. I love this video. It gives me something to try - so I can get my mixer back in the game. Can't say I am happy though.
The newer accessories are not stainless steel and so you can't put them in the dish washer ( they gunk-up). I am at my wits end. The old kitchen Aid's is what built the reputation for the company.
So many people think the newer ones are junk. When I worked at Macy's they where the leading returned item in the home wares departments.
I love my kitchen Aid but like so many other (newly manufactured) appliances when they started to engineer them to break after a certain period of use -they did not take into account "real world use."
Sometimes having knowledge, thrifty green habits and integrity hurts. I have learned that my habit of never throwing anything away until it was completely non- repairable has me baring witness to the organizational collusion- all modern major appliances are junk and people are just stupid.
Where the person is smart taken in a group we are just plain stupid and lazy. This makes it dangerous for all of use. We all owe something to society. The poor, the poorer and, the rich.
The people that can afford to sue these companies don't. Why should my 30 year old washer and dryer still be working, my 2003 car be getting the same gas miles comparably to other newer models and saving energy ( electric bill) have my energy bill rising instead of falling?
Technology/innovation makes things cheaper. Innovation also destroys and opens new paths. The greedy has held the future back giving us a world destroying itself.
Consumers are the ones being consumed. Kitchen Aid should be ashamed. They are just one of many- though.
They could have been the best in the world "BUT" for not wanting people to be able to past their stand mixer from mother to daughter. Dishonesty bring even the mighty low when the worm turns.

I realize this video was made in 2013, but I wanted to let you and others know that KA sells a 5 qt tilt head mixer at a lower price point for stores like Macey’s and Costco. These cheaper ones are Model 150 and are just called Artisans. They aren’t as well made, for instance, the attachment screw is not spring loaded, making the attachments not fit as well and is louder. The better 5 qt Artisan Design Series is Model 155 and always comes with a glass bowl. The other parts are KA quality performance, but their MSRP is close to $430.00. If you look carefully at different sights you can find the better 155 model with colors that may be discontinued. I received mine at Bestbuy.com for $235.00 with free shipping and got a Candy Apple Red. Other sites may have those too, it’s worth waiting to find the right model (155!).

Very informative video! I've had an Artisan for 10 years and love it. I like the idea of additional beaters! Recently I purchased the flex-edge beater and love it! I'd wondered what the difference was between the nylon flat paddle vs there stainless steel, which you shed some light on. I'll be purchasing one of those as well as the glass bowl...already have the 4.5 qt bowl. So glad I found your channel! Subscribed!

The problem with the "burnished metal" flat beater, dough hook, and whisk is that they MUST be hand washed. The problems with the glass bowls are that they are extremely heavy, are very expensive, and are really awkward to use.
