I feel like it was an unofficial relationship. They were falling in love but had to focus on saving Hyrule and neither of them felt they were allowed to actually follow through with a committed relationship until after defeating the calamity. Idk it feels more dramatic and romantic that way lol

I love how Mipha and Zelda are never portrayed as jealous or resentful of each other. I’m pretty sick of love triangle tropes where people hate each other. It’s refreshing to see Mipha actually being supportive and respectful of Zelda and Link’s feelings. Same thing goes for Paya as well.
A relationship between Mipha and Link would be doomed to fail. Zoras live for hundreds of years while Hyilians age normally so there is no way the relationship would work in the long run. Mipha knows this which is why she is willing to let him and Zelda be.
I ship Zelinkpha which is Zelda, Link, & Mipha. That way Link gets both the girls he loves and both Zelda and Mipha get to be with Link! Everyone wins, plus Link get to be with 2 girls, if you know what I mean!😉😏

I personally think that almost everyone became aware of the attraction between Link and Zelda (Kass’s teacher/the court poet, Urbosa, Mipha, Impa, the Deku Tree) but back then, the two were close, but were never in an official relationship due to Calamity Ganon’s imminent return and the fact that Link was a commoner. However, after the Great Calamity and Calamity Ganon’s defeat a hundred years later, they are free to romance each other and will likely marry in the sequel.
This is easily one of my biggest disappointments with BotW. I was fully convinced when I sat to play for the first time that this would be *the* game where Link emotes and gestures...but he just...doesn't. Some of the best moments for me are honestly in his small bits of expression, where he's taken aback by the Sheikah Slate, startled by the shaking from Hyrule Castle atop the Great Plateau Tower, or his subtle downward gaze at Rhoam's words of his past. At this point, I genuinely don't care about Link being the connection between the player and the games themselves. I want him to be his own character, with a soul and identity.
i always interpreted urbosa's line and wink like this: saving the princess and saving hyrule have been treated as synonymous by the other champions and even rhoam. urbosa is telling link to take care of the princess just like everyone else, but by adding that extra line of taking care of hyrule too, it gives me kinda "take good care of her (personally)... oh and maybe also save the world too while you're at it *wink wink* " vibes
I'd like to add that, when Link is protecting Zelda from the guardians despite barely being able to stand, the King has already been long dead. If Link had run away from Zelda to save his own life, it's not like he would have gotten in trouble or anything. He has no real motive to stay there just to not risk punishment.

I completely agree with this, but one thing to add. Urbosa's wink. I always took it as take care of Hyrule as the land, and the wink also signified Zelda because her last name was Hyrule. (At least I think because isn't that her father's surname?) I always took it as a cheeky joke from Urbosa while also being serious for his quest.
Not sure if their last name is hyrule? I know his name is Rhoam and her mother’s name was Zelda. But yeah you might be right, totally. I just kinda put my thoughts and ideas into this video hahah

For me it was basically confirmed when Zelda starts to say “-I “ to the deku tree when asking it to relay a message. She wouldn’t of kept it to herself if it was something that would help link defeat Gannon or important to his memories. The fact that she agreed to the deku trees statement of “whatever you need to tell him don’t you think you should tell him yourself?” Just shows it was a personal or a just normal piece of information of something Zelda wanted to say about link. “I” implies that she was going to express something she feels about link or something relating to her perspective and point of view and opinions. Her using “I” which so coincidentally aligned with being interrupted by the deku tree means it is a big reveal and not some meaningless “I hope you succeed” or a “I am so glad you’ve looked out for me all these years” that’s just something common that Zelda wouldn’t take the time to tell the deku tree to relay that message
I never thought of this! I always figured it was "Tell him I love him" but I didn't think of the fact that the Deku Tree interrupting her and telling her to tell him herself would be personal! Because if Zelda actually told Impa to tell Link to "free the Divine Beasts", she certainly would've told the Deku Tree without interruption something similar, especially if it was something like "free the Divine Beasts". I really hope it becomes canon in part 2!
One of my favorite moments is in the forest when Link is helping Zelda escape from Ganon. Zelda falls after being dragged by Link. If he was just her sworn knight, he would’ve told her to get up and keep running, but instead he sheathes his sword and kneels down to listen to her. He listens to her guilt and feels her regret. And when she finally breaks down and begins sobbing, he holds her.
If they were dating or not, Zelda loves him and he definitely cares for her, and after he saves her from Ganon they’re gonna be spending a lot of time together and Zelda also eventually needs to keep the royal bloodline going so yea

I would also like to add that zeldas favorite flower was called a silent princess, and link is always addressed as a silent knight which I thought was a nice nod to their love.
A big thing another theorizer had mentioned ( i forget who) is the translation of the sheika slate. The discriptions in japanese is more personal and in the point of view of link. One discription is link talking about one of the memories. Longing to see her smile. (Hence the smile zelda gives him in the end.)
What I noticed when going through zora’s domain again is link and Mipha would’ve probably ended up together if link didn’t go off to be a knight however because he went and left he and Mipha’s relationship did not grow and his stress drove them apart. I think Mipha realizes this and when she says go save the princess twice, it’s in a way realizing this respecting him and Zelda who he had been bonding with and spending more time with

So he doesn’t possess that same silent burden. - Mipha in AoC even says he hasn’t changed, unlike in the BotW timeline
Kass tells the story to Link that his teacher was in love with Zelda, but she already had her heart set on Link. There is a diary in the American version, it is written in the 3rd person, but in the Japanese version, it is Link who wrote it and he ends up saying that he wants to see Zelda's smile again. just remember that, although the game has a western medieval fantasy aspect, it is made in Japan, and in the game itself there are situations or details very much from Japanese culture and that makes the act of Zelda touching Link's face or hair and Link wants to see his smile again, already implies an approach more than friends, more complicit and sentimental between them.
I think i agree 100% with you. I like the gesture reading you did mostly because this game being Japanese, is very influenced by Japanese’s culture and being touchy feely among friends is not a thing at all. Is also kinda rare in actual couples. so yeah all you said makes a lot of sense. Loved it

I've always thought that Zelda had feelings for Link before he even became her knight. In Zelda's diary she refers to Link as "HIM", (page 1) signifying that Link was already an important person to her, and being a teenage girl with a lot on her plate, she was flitting between love and hate. Then in an exerpt from her research notes, (page 5) Zelda says, "It may sound rude that I found this unexpected, but Mipha mastered the controls with surprising ease." To me, this exerpt makes it seem as though Zelda has some resentment or jealousy towards Mipha, possibly because she and Link were so close, or because she knew Mipha had feelings for Link. Anyways, this was just my two cents
Ok, I have 5 more reinforcement reasons: 1. When Link is comforting Zelda it may seem like Link is just giving her support, but if you look closer, they’re HUGGING 2. In the secret ending it has been concluded that they did not kiss, but it really looked like they were ABOUT to kiss 3. Another one about the secret ending, if you look really closely when the run towards each other, they slow down and start to HOLD HANDS 4. Zelda after the Yiga scene never had a problem opening up, hinting that they were at least good friends, probably even more then that 5. When Link has shown bravery or they are having a moment of closeness, Zelda looks at Link admirably like she likes him

I completely agree with all your points and it is pretty clear in the storyline that Zelda and Link are factually in love with each other. This love between them stands the test of time and is just ultimately captivating and bittersweet in every way. The memory, “Despair” is my favorite memory and truly signifies how much they both care about each other, with Zelda looking upon Link as a shoulder to cry on. I legitimately cried so hard during that scene because not only is their affection for each other so prevalent and strong but simply the travesty of what Zelda has been through is absolutely heartbreaking. Zelda realizes that Link is there for her when the Yiga Clan attacks her, conclusively enabling her to fall head over heels in love with him which is only further elaborated when she opens up to him and tries to bond with him.
I just finished AoC, and I guess maybe in about 2-3 memories there were hints of their ship, but this game takes place in a whole other timeline. So... maybe new theories will be made regarding the AoC Zelink. Maybe it was the same timeline, but it changed since the egg came, oh man... timelines and time travel is so confusing

And in the memory to mount lanayru, link told Zelda to “soothe her mount to let it know how she truly feels..” he secretly told us his love language is pretty much “words/actions” of affirmation, and we see him stepping out of role even putting his SWORD AWAY as he soothes Zelda.. end not to mention, in the original dialogue of BOTW, it’s written in third person, and link ends remembering how he FEELS about Zelda and he 100% remembers her

As seen in the Mipha's touch memory, Mipha is healing a scratch of Link's arm, right arm if I remember correctly, and in premonition, the arm sleeve that's pulled back, and maybe where Zelda was looking, was his RIGHT arm Edit, I guess we spotted the same thing pretty quickly. In the true ending, Zelda gives Link a giant goofy smile, she wouldn't give that smile to just anyone because it's kinda unattractive and she has to be the formal and proper princess, and to show this to Link means she truly has opened up to him and can show him her true self. I certainly wouldn't act like a fool on purpose in front of anyone, besides my family, friends, and of course, my loved one.
Another thing that I would like to add In favor of Zelink, is when Miphia is talking to Zelda about trying to awakening her sealing power, there is a abrupt cut to link. I think we know what this is trying to imply. (Mipha speaks of thinking of the person you love, and the person it cuts to is Link. This feels very intentional).

The memories are specially designed so that you can interpret everything into it. On the one hand, your theory that the two were already together when they traveled through Hyrule, but on the other hand, you can also think that a close friendship developed between them. So it's up to the player what he wants to believe. My humble theory is that the two were/are in love with each other but neither confessed their love to the other. It's more like everyone knows how they feel about each other but Link and Zelda have no idea.

The expressions when Zelda was saved by Link from the Yiga soldiers, to her asking if the great deku tree would give link a message. Those expressions are of a woman who is falling in love.
In the spanish subs Mipha says that helps to her to think about the person she loves when she uses her power. I think that is a insinuation to Zelda, that maybe she could get her powers if she thinks in the person she loves, and that's what happen after that, in the memory where Zelda awakes her powers to save Link. I don't know if we can say they were "dating", but they were definitely in love. I think they were trying to keep things professional because they both had important duties, so they were sort of putting their feelings on hold. And don't forget, Mipha had been making engagement armor for him. I doubt she would have done that if they were actually dating, but as long as they weren't actually together, she still had a chance.
I love this theory and I do believe it, but for the running memory notice that he’s not actually holding Zelda’s hand but her wrist, and how she keeps stumbling behind him. I’d say she was in shock over the carnage and Link, seeing the danger, had to get her to safety and just quickly grabbed her and started booking it. She’s still clearly distraught, since Link’s keeping a steady pace while she can barely keep up, all building up to when she breaks down and they stop running
Zelda moved into Links home, put up a bunch of paintings and photos in place of Links mounted weapons, clutters the place, everyone refers to that house as hers, and there's only one bed As that one guy said; "They are FUCKING until that room STINKS"
I understand your point about link sacrificing himself for Zelda and I really like this video but any scenario where link risk his life for Zelda I wouldn’t count as evidence because it’s his job to protect Zelda he comes from a loyal bloodline of knights dedicated to the kingdom and the king tasked him to protect Zelda & if he truly cared about Zelda as a friend or in a romantic way he would have faith in her ability to unlock her power also in past Zelda games Ganon is always beaten differently but in this one specifically after beating both ganon phases Zelda is the one who seals him away for good otherwise he’d have been defeated not destroyed also Zelda has the blood of the goddess that seals ganon link has the spirit of the hero that can defeat ganon the spirit of the hero has been passed down from previous links but Every Zelda is directed related up to hylia herself so if she dies the bloodline ends and ganon will eventually return an bring the end but I still really like this theory 👍👍👏 Great work.
Adding to your point: - Link was actually too beaten to do almost anything at that point. Considering that he didn't even tried to prevent Zelda from shielding him. - Link is always portrayed to be the "Heroic Type". Even if he surviving would mean that he could save more people from the calamity. Just the thought of letting someone he could save behind should be enough to stop him of even thinking about it.
The fact that Zelda moved in with link at hateno village, redecorated, has to have a special secret study in the well, and that they only have one bed tells me they’re in some kind of romantic relationship.
Honest opinion; why Mipha was standing so far away from link was maybe because she was showing how far away he actually is from her. Even if they were really close, she still felt as if he was still so far away that she couldn’t bear to get any closer knowing that he was moving on from her. I really think tat link did used to have a little bit of feelings for Mipha, but when he was assigned Zelda’s appointed knight he started to change and get more comfortable with Zelda, and forgetting a little bit about his feelings towards mipha. If I may add something: in the village you help to build, at the end, the builder get married to a gerudo and during the ceremony a huge amount of petals are flying, the same way as during the very end of the game when the two are reunited. Also when Link saves her at the end and she asks him if he remembers... her (?... instead of asking if he remembers that she loves him). But I think their love was not revealed or assumed, I think Zelda felt in love first then Link knew it and even if he was attracted by her he was not open to reveal it and before defeating ganon, until he knows that she had to unleash her power by the power of her love.
Wow you've done such a great job putting this all together! There are my thoughts below, nothing to tell against video. I want people to understand that not all characters need to have a love interest. Close friends are 100% enough for many movies/games/etc. They still can love each other but not in a _couple_ way. But. F r i e n d s. Not everyone have to fall in love with other MC just bc they are both MC. I mean. Friendship is cool. It can include gentle touches, cuddles and whatewer else people tend to claim only for ones who in relationship.
In 13:01 your theory has some backing up as long time ago when a monarch dies his only child (a daughter) wouldn’t take the throne but her husband did. After the death of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI who only had a daughter, Austria went into civil war which ended with his son-in-law Francis I, taking the throne.
She had her chance, but Ganon had other ideas and got her (probably before she could present him the Zora Amor she made). But I'm sure she would be fine since she greatly respected Zelda
My theory is that hints are put in the games and let willingly discreet so you can either cherish them or ignore them. As Link's emotions. Everything is made for you to imagine his feelings and their relationship as you'd want them to be. It's not that "it's only your opinion and anybody can disagree", but more "if you think it happened like this for YOUR Link, then it really happened in YOUR version of the story; maybe it didn't happen for millions other people who imagined/played their Link differently, but for you and the memories you'll keep from this game, you can consider it canon". In my theory Link has always been so blank and quiet so you can fill this empty body with your own soul, emotions and thoughts. And the same goes for his blurry relationships: we know for sure how the others feel but how Link feels and responds is entirely up to you. Thank you for highlighting some details I missed too. :)
You missed a very important hint, if I remember right, Kass tells Link something about his master having feelings for Zelda and his quote ends with the fact that Zelda only had eyes for her knight.
And about the memory where Ganon is released and the Urbosa and Mipha memories... 1. Urbosa, finds Link to be the best guy for Zelda and also she knows Zelda has a crush on him but that wink and constunt pushes were for to Link who at that time was dense AF to take the hint. 2. In Mipha's case it true see had this fear of losing links affection since in every Japanese media its the childhood friends that either are friendzoned or killed, sadly both things happen in Mipha's case. And after being saved from water blight Ganon... her distance is very symbolic as she knows that now theres no way for her to be with link and to accept that Link about this time in the story has opened to those feeling he felt back than but neglected them for his duty. TL;DR that moment Mipha truly died.
Urbosa's wink: I think her saying take care of the princess had a double meaning, as of course it was his duty as her knight, but also take care of her on a more personal level, take care of her heart, and threw in "take care of hyrule" as a tongue in cheek joke, as in, oh and while you're focused of caring for the princess, don't forget about the rest of the kingdom too.
Not sure if this supports what you were discussing here, but on another theory video or memory discussion or something I saw someone mention that, in the Silent Princess cutscene, Link reaches for Zelda's hand slightly somewhere in between her finding the flower and finding the frog.

I completely agree with this, but one thing to add. Urbosa's wink. I always took it as take care of Hyrule as the land, and the wink also signified Zelda because her last name was Hyrule. (At least I think because isn't that her father's surname?) I always took it as a cheeky joke from Urbosa while also being serious for his quest.

For me it was basically confirmed when Zelda starts to say “-I “ to the deku tree when asking it to relay a message. She wouldn’t of kept it to herself if it was something that would help link defeat Gannon or important to his memories. The fact that she agreed to the deku trees statement of “whatever you need to tell him don’t you think you should tell him yourself?” Just shows it was a personal or a just normal piece of information of something Zelda wanted to say about link. “I” implies that she was going to express something she feels about link or something relating to her perspective and point of view and opinions. Her using “I” which so coincidentally aligned with being interrupted by the deku tree means it is a big reveal and not some meaningless “I hope you succeed” or a “I am so glad you’ve looked out for me all these years” that’s just something common that Zelda wouldn’t take the time to tell the deku tree to relay that message

I never thought of this! I always figured it was "Tell him I love him" but I didn't think of the fact that the Deku Tree interrupting her and telling her to tell him herself would be personal! Because if Zelda actually told Impa to tell Link to "free the Divine Beasts", she certainly would've told the Deku Tree without interruption something similar, especially if it was something like "free the Divine Beasts". I really hope it becomes canon in part 2!
One of my favorite moments is in the forest when Link is helping Zelda escape from Ganon. Zelda falls after being dragged by Link. If he was just her sworn knight, he would’ve told her to get up and keep running, but instead he sheathes his sword and kneels down to listen to her. He listens to her guilt and feels her regret. And when she finally breaks down and begins sobbing, he holds her.

A big thing another theorizer had mentioned ( i forget who) is the translation of the sheika slate. The discriptions in japanese is more personal and in the point of view of link. One discription is link talking about one of the memories. Longing to see her smile. (Hence the smile zelda gives him in the end.)
Another for Trial of the Sword is that he thinks Zelda will be happy with his progress.
What I noticed when going through zora’s domain again is link and Mipha would’ve probably ended up together if link didn’t go off to be a knight however because he went and left he and Mipha’s relationship did not grow and his stress drove them apart. I think Mipha realizes this and when she says go save the princess twice, it’s in a way realizing this respecting him and Zelda who he had been bonding with and spending more time with

There is a diary in the American version, it is written in the 3rd person, but in the Japanese version, it is Link who wrote it and he ends up saying that he wants to see Zelda's smile again.
just remember that, although the game has a western medieval fantasy aspect, it is made in Japan, and in the game itself there are situations or details very much from Japanese culture and that makes the act of Zelda touching Link's face or hair and Link wants to see his smile again, already implies an approach more than friends, more complicit and sentimental between them.

I've always thought that Zelda had feelings for Link before he even became her knight. In Zelda's diary she refers to Link as "HIM", (page 1) signifying that Link was already an important person to her, and being a teenage girl with a lot on her plate, she was flitting between love and hate. Then in an exerpt from her research notes, (page 5) Zelda says, "It may sound rude that I found this unexpected, but Mipha mastered the controls with surprising ease." To me, this exerpt makes it seem as though Zelda has some resentment or jealousy towards Mipha, possibly because she and Link were so close, or because she knew Mipha had feelings for Link. Anyways, this was just my two cents

Ok, I have 5 more reinforcement reasons:
1. When Link is comforting Zelda it may seem like Link is just giving her support, but if you look closer, they’re HUGGING
2. In the secret ending it has been concluded that they did not kiss, but it really looked like they were ABOUT to kiss
3. Another one about the secret ending, if you look really closely when the run towards each other, they slow down and start to HOLD HANDS
4. Zelda after the Yiga scene never had a problem opening up, hinting that they were at least good friends, probably even more then that

I completely agree with all your points and it is pretty clear in the storyline that Zelda and Link are factually in love with each other. This love between them stands the test of time and is just ultimately captivating and bittersweet in every way. The memory, “Despair” is my favorite memory and truly signifies how much they both care about each other, with Zelda looking upon Link as a shoulder to cry on. I legitimately cried so hard during that scene because not only is their affection for each other so prevalent and strong but simply the travesty of what Zelda has been through is absolutely heartbreaking. Zelda realizes that Link is there for her when the Yiga Clan attacks her, conclusively enabling her to fall head over heels in love with him which is only further elaborated when she opens up to him and tries to bond with him.
I love this theory!!! Makes complete sense to me and I hope that AOC might give us scenes where their relationship is deepening.

In the true ending, Zelda gives Link a giant goofy smile, she wouldn't give that smile to just anyone because it's kinda unattractive and she has to be the formal and proper princess, and to show this to Link means she truly has opened up to him and can show him her true self. I think we know what this is trying to imply. (Mipha speaks of thinking of the person you love, and the person it cuts to is Link. This feels very intentional).

The memories are specially designed so that you can interpret everything into it. On the one hand, your theory that the two were already together when they traveled through Hyrule, but on the other hand, you can also think that a close friendship developed between them. So it's up to the player what he wants to believe.
My humble theory is that the two were/are in love with each other but neither confessed their love to the other.
It's more like everyone knows how they feel about each other but Link and Zelda have no idea.

I don't know if we can say they were "dating", but they were definitely in love. I think they were trying to keep things professional because they both had important duties, so they were sort of putting their feelings on hold. And don't forget, Mipha had been making engagement armor for him. I doubt she would have done that if they were actually dating, but as long as they weren't actually together, she still had a chance.

I love this theory and I do believe it, but for the running memory notice that he’s not actually holding Zelda’s hand but her wrist, and how she keeps stumbling behind him. I’d say she was in shock over the carnage and Link, seeing the danger, had to get her to safety and just quickly grabbed her and started booking it. She’s still clearly distraught, since Link’s keeping a steady pace while she can barely keep up, all building up to when she breaks down and they stop running
Zelda moved into Links home, put up a bunch of paintings and photos in place of Links mounted weapons, clutters the place, everyone refers to that house as hers, and there's only one bed

I understand your point about link sacrificing himself for Zelda and I really like this video but any scenario where link risk his life for Zelda I wouldn’t count as evidence because it’s his job to protect Zelda he comes from a loyal bloodline of knights dedicated to the kingdom and the king tasked him to protect Zelda & if he truly cared about Zelda as a friend or in a romantic way he would have faith in her ability to unlock her power also in past Zelda games Ganon is always beaten differently but in this one specifically after beating both ganon phases Zelda is the one who seals him away for good otherwise he’d have been defeated not destroyed also Zelda has the blood of the goddess that seals ganon link has the spirit of the hero that can defeat ganon the spirit of the hero has been passed down from previous links but Every Zelda is directed related up to hylia herself so if she dies the bloodline ends and ganon will eventually return an bring the end but I still really like this theory 👍👍👏 Great work.
Adding to your point:
- Link was actually too beaten to do almost anything at that point. Considering that he didn't even tried to prevent Zelda from shielding him.
- Link is always portrayed to be the "Heroic Type". Even if he surviving would mean that he could save more people from the calamity. Just the thought of letting someone he could save behind should be enough to stop him of even thinking about it.
The fact that Zelda moved in with link at hateno village, redecorated, has to have a special secret study in the well, and that they only have one bed tells me they’re in some kind of romantic relationship.
Honest opinion; why Mipha was standing so far away from link was maybe because she was showing how far away he actually is from her. Even if they were really close, she still felt as if he was still so far away that she couldn’t bear to get any closer knowing that he was moving on from her. I really think tat link did used to have a little bit of feelings for Mipha, but when he was assigned Zelda’s appointed knight he started to change and get more comfortable with Zelda, and forgetting a little bit about his feelings towards mipha.

If I may add something: in the village you help to build, at the end, the builder get married to a gerudo and during the ceremony a huge amount of petals are flying, the same way as during the very end of the game when the two are reunited. Also when Link saves her at the end and she asks him if he remembers... her (?... instead of asking if he remembers that she loves him). But I think their love was not revealed or assumed, I think Zelda felt in love first then Link knew it and even if he was attracted by her he was not open to reveal it and before defeating ganon, until he knows that she had to unleash her power by the power of her love.

Close friends are 100% enough for many movies/games/etc. They still can love each other but not in a _couple_ way.

In 13:01 your theory has some backing up as long time ago when a monarch dies his only child (a daughter) wouldn’t take the throne but her husband did. After the death of Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI who only had a daughter, Austria went into civil war which ended with his son-in-law Francis I, taking the throne.

My theory is that hints are put in the games and let willingly discreet so you can either cherish them or ignore them. As Link's emotions. Everything is made for you to imagine his feelings and their relationship as you'd want them to be. It's not that "it's only your opinion and anybody can disagree", but more "if you think it happened like this for YOUR Link, then it really happened in YOUR version of the story; maybe it didn't happen for millions other people who imagined/played their Link differently, but for you and the memories you'll keep from this game, you can consider it canon".
In my theory Link has always been so blank and quiet so you can fill this empty body with your own soul, emotions and thoughts. And the same goes for his blurry relationships: we know for sure how the others feel but how Link feels and responds is entirely up to you.

1. Urbosa, finds Link to be the best guy for Zelda and also she knows Zelda has a crush on him but that wink and constunt pushes were for to Link who at that time was dense AF to take the hint.

In Mipha's case it true see had this fear of losing links affection since in every Japanese media its the childhood friends that either are friendzoned or killed, sadly both things happen in Mipha's case. And after being saved from water blight Ganon... her distance is very symbolic as she knows that now theres no way for her to be with link and to accept that Link about this time in the story has opened to those feeling he felt back than but neglected them for his duty. TL;DR that moment Mipha truly died.

Not sure if this supports what you were discussing here, but on another theory video or memory discussion or something I saw someone mention that, in the Silent Princess cutscene, Link reaches for Zelda's hand slightly somewhere in between her finding the flower and finding the frog.
