the longest touchdown drive of the season

- During the college football game between Navy and Memphis, Navy went on a crazy 21 play 75 yard touchdown drive that lasted nearly 12 minutes. The crazy part is the Midshipmen only threw one pass the entire drive. Every other play was a run and Navy slowly moved the ball down the field, as they chipped away at the Memphis defense. The drive started with 12:10 remaining in the first quarter and ended with just 20 seconds left. Navy is currently trailing Memphis 14-7.

Navy football is a thing of beauty. Also say a quick prayer for the Memphis defense because their offense scored on the very next play after this drive 🤣
memphis gon have more tds than minutes of possession
As a active Navy Sailor, I despise their football program 🤣🤣🤣
Memphis defense sure ain’t gonna like their offense for a while
@@straightouttajudah5479 ty for your service brother 🙏🏽
@@jakejohnson8926 my pleasure.
When you need a touchdown to win the game with 12 minutes left in the 4th
Navy's Offensive Coordinator: Coach, would you be willing to throw the ball at all?
Navy's Head Coach: Nah, I'll pass.
I see what u did there
Army and Navy in a nutshell
Haha that’s so dumb
“We may sail on the ocean but we only run on the ground!”
-Navy’s Football Motto probably
Navy actually flies in space too. Astronauts, milpersmen, etc. I get your point, just stating a very little known fact.
@@idabwell
The US Navy would very much like to take the lead in the United States becoming a space force. The Secretary of the Navy is fond of saying "Space is an ocean. And oceans are where navies go".
And aren't we more in the habit of saying a spaceship instead of a space-plane?
Memphis celebrated the first 12 tackles… then were like “WTF is going on here?” Navy coach flips a coin; heads running back runs, tails QB runs.”
Military academy football is so fun to watch but also so painful to watch at the same time!
Only reason the academies do this is because everyone on the team has to be within BMI weight standards. Generally OL are not on normal teams so the academy OL is a lot smaller therefore they wouldn't be able to hold their own in pass protection play in and play out. Triple option is the only way to do it for them.
Buy they are big enough to block for the run when a team knows they are gonna run? If you run the ball 95% of the time, you should be able to block for a pass.
@@kenmcphail1320 Not traditional running tho. All option. It allows confusion on the defense (trying to figure out where the ball is) which allows the runner to get out ahead. The OL rely on their agility over strength which is different than normal programs. Pass blocking is mostly strength based.
And they do a ton of cut blocking, as opposed to traditional run blocking. Also, the service academies have very limited practice time compared to other schools, so getting them to learn and then be able to execute 100-200 plays out of 20-30 formations is just not going to happen.
Army and Air Force: That's how it's done.
literally took up the whole quarter lmao
This is that dude on madden who chews clock and takes up an entire half each drive.
HAHAHAH LMAO
Those are some nice Memphis uniforms!
Bruh Navy broke football. Who needs to throw when you can run 4 yards every play?
I'm not sure going 1-5 is breaking football
@@falubii9712 it's a joke man
Navy: Just Keep Running until we score
Hey if it works it works 🤷♂️
I remember when army a couple of years ago had a similar growth, but they committed a couple of 15 yard chocolate penalties. So after having scored the touchdown they went over 100 yards and took up the whole quarter
Little do we know, half of Navy’s third down conversations this year came from this one drive.
They really ran it every play 😂
It’s even funnier since Memphis scored on a drive that lasted 14 seconds following this
This is amazing, honestly
It's the same way Georgia Tech used to do it. They'll run the clock down as much as they can and If you're offense is mediocre, than you'll have a tough time putting up points because of their time of possession.
God I remember playing wishbone and option teams in high school I graduated 04 just as everyone switched to the spreads. They suck the life out of games and defenses when they have drives like that cause even if u go back out and score on a big play or kick off return it’s actually bad cause ur defense has to go right back out. Playing them was the only time I was ever told don’t try to score just get the first down we need to let the d have a break
Geez lol, the defense was so mad
Ran this offense in high school and junior college. Used to hate kt nack in the day but now I love it and miss it so much
My high school ran triple option we used to eat the clock just like that. Nothing but physical run right at you kinda football
I love this kinda football, we run power T and flexbone all game long
DANG 10 minutes!
Man oh man, navy coach had no trust in his qb
Beautiful!!! I love it! Now imagine if a big time school ran the same offense! Some say it wouldn't work but if Alabama, Oklahoma, or a big time school ran it I would argue that they wouldn't loose to a spread hurry up team! Bc if that spread team didn't score a touchdown every single time their defense would be done after the first couple drives & they would be carting them off the field!
Considering Memphis then scored like in mere seconds, their defense was probably pissed.
That was beautiful.
Talk about fookin ground and pound 🥴
This thing took longer than my dad having to get milk and he’s been gone 2 years
I wonder if he’ll come back
Yea don’t worry he’ll be back. He probably just had to go to another store because they were all out in your town.
@@pschighlights lol thanks bro
Haha, very original and funny. This isnt incredibly dry and annoying at all.
@@bayralysis Cry more
@@bayralysis ^ refer to comment above my own.
lol navy lives by the philosophy of, if your back averages 4 ypc, and you give it to him 4 times in a row, he should get the first
Navy HC would make a great Run coordinator
The clip starts on the twenty-five and in my head I'm like:
"longest drive of the se-- ?
oh no, oh sweet jesus, no"
Anyways, then I watched the whole thing.
Old school football 🏈
Triple option works until it doesn't. Some teams live and die by the play style
Navy kept running plays to the same side all the way down the field. The D line on that side had to be gassed by the end.
Those navy linemen fuckin hate the coach on that drive lol.
Holy Football Batman!!! 😄🇺🇸🏈
Really took 12 mins
lava tie
What if Lamar Jackson went to Navy
Imagine what they could do with the TX rb
If Nick Chubb knew how to be tackled, Brown's could cheese everyone like this all season lmao.
Army did this BS a couple years back vs Oklahoma. Held the ball 45 minutes and lost in OT.
Say what you want about how affective they were but you know those constant up the middles had to hurt for the rbs. Just getting bounced around like a pinball.
This is way most schools don't like playing the service academies they just wear you out and get the win
This usually doesn't work against decent teams. Defense will play run and force the qb, who probably is awful, to pass.
@@fredv9988 unless the service academies are good QB don't need to great just decent with his arm.
@@zjhome1257 true, but good qbs don't usually go to schools with triple option offenses
@@fredv9988 that's why I said decent I mean a service academy might throw 10 times in a game.
Nobody did it better than Georgia tech
Sadly some of the few navy highlights of the game
This vintage offense tho
Try to find the longest drives in history..
I wish people will gonna edit this with SpongeBob's french narrator...
(I know it could be offensive)
I legit do this an madden sometimes I would take the kickoff to the 10 yard line then put on chew clock so every time I run a play it goes to ten seconds then I would hike it with 1 second left, I would do that as much as possible till I score either a field goal or a touchdown then I would onside kick it an if I get the onside kick i would waste the rest of the clock maybe score a touchdown and go for the 2 point conversion so I would be up 16-0 at halftime they Would get the ball 🏈 but even if they scored they would be an a rush an forgot about the run game I would make them a pass only team, then even if they score the touchdown they gotta go for the two point conversion, but let’s say they don’t get it they would be down 6-16 an then they would try to onside kick and give it to me an great field position then i would do that same thing run run and more run waste more time then sometimes they would completely sell out to stop the run an I would hit them with A play action pass. Usually if I can do this They would end up with one maybe maybe two possessions max or just rage quit.
*slowest TD drive
Refs don’t like the Navy!
