Can you guys remember any other instances of a QB getting ejected? It is pretty uncommon, especially for targeting.

There was that time the Eastern Michigan quarterback slapped a ref by accident in their bowl game, I believe in 2019.

Marcus Murphy is one of the most impressive return men in college football. I mean my god. The angles and speed that guy creates are almost unreal to watch.

I don't know what I enjoy more, the plays themselves or the announcers sounding like kids in a candy shop while watching the plays. :)
In 2009, Iowa blocked a game-winning field goal attempt by Northern Iowa. UNI recovered the ball with time and was able to attempt another FG, which was blocked again. As far as I know, this is the only instance of consecutive blocked FGs. Love your vids btw.

The one with the girl running onto the field to congratulate her brother even before the game was over was a testament to her psychic abilities. Western Michigan ended up winning 71-68 in 7 OTs.

Its really interesting watching these videos and seeing the evolution of football, specifically the rules about when a runner is defenseless, when a catch is actually a catch vs and interception because they didnt establish themselves as a "runner", but also the equipment and the announcers just in this one video range like 40+ years, which seems like 100 years in football terms. Good stuff. I miss the old days.

I don't agree with the call, but it was a peel-back block that hit the defender high. The refs have to call that regardless of position.
Just a bunch of refs trying to save their Vegas bets.
Henceforth why I think football refs deserve to get a solid punch to the face 👀
@@jamespgray6928 it’s a penalty if he hits him low, it’s a penalty if he hits him high. They literally want him to not block at all.
if they're "ejecting" players from a game, i think the players should be literally ejected out of the stadium...by catapult or equivalent.

That was a BS call. The NFL tried to penalize teams for fan noise. It could never work. That's why teams invented hand signals and silent counts
That Mizzou-Florida game...around that time period, there was a stat out there that teams who held their opponents to 120 or fewer total yards of offense in a game were 148-2 over...however many years that was. The two losses? 2011 Florida vs. Florida State, and 2014 Florida vs. Mizzou, both at the Swamp, both under Will Muschamp. And if that stat doesn't sum up the Muschamp years succinctly, I dunno what does.

I remember that Mizzou-Florida game vividly, although I did have to look up the specific offensive yardage total for Mizzou that night (119). Marcus Murphy had more yards just on returns.
As a Florida State I really enjoyed that game. That has to be a record for the largest margin of victory while having under 120 yards of offense.

I remember it to. Being a florida and seeing how close the game actually was and that we could`ve actually made a comeback at any point. Needless to say it was a mood ruiner lol

the cheerleader and band one is because they were screaming “hut” and “go” confusing the snapper and the defense. it’s justified people just didn’t know why they were doing. same stuff happens at highschool games all the time.

I was at that game between Montana-Nau where the QB got ejected. That stadium went wild when that happened and it was awesome to witness in person

One of my college's DIII homecoming games my team was down 7, but the opposition got a seeming pick-6 to seal the game as time expired. Only problem being, their whole team ran out onto the field to celebrate before the play was blown dead, leading to a too many men on the field penalty and another chance for my team that my team promptly took advantage of by scoring and capped it off by converting on the 2-point play to outright win the game. Those were some of the most dejected looking players I have ever seen...
Hmm it seems the players ran onto the field after the interception. In that case, shouldn't the penalty have been enforced at that point so the defense keeps the ball? Never heard of the ball being given back to the offense due to a foul after a turnover.

As far as these sports comps go this is an exceptional mix of plays throughout the years that even as a devout watcher of these videos I have rarely seen; great job!
That first clip is from a game at my college. I was there. UM (University of Montana) we are not kind to the opposing team at all. The student section is merciless.

The field goal being stopped by a strong gust of wind is nothing short of divine intervention saying "nope, you gonna lose today"

@James Stocks not a great feeeling. Happened to me a couple times too. Also - one time I caught a ball, was tackled but I landed directly on the ball. It snapped back into my chest and I literally lost the ability to breathe for like 5 seconds. Such a weird feeling - wind knocked right out of me. It really is a thing.
Me: "This will be fun to watch." (Shows my Huskers kick the -2 yard punt. Me: "........" )

I legit used to think that every drive started with 1st and 12 and every fresh first down was 1st and 12 that it got changed to 10 in the mid 2000’s 😂

I was the kicker for my high school football team, and we were playing a home game. We were 4th and some ridiculous yardage. We had a pretty strong wind that day and was raising hell with our passing game, so I punted. That ball caught the wind, went out about 10 yards, came back 20 yards, and back down. Yeah, as I recall, we lost that game.
Watched a college game a few years back where one team tried to punt into the wind. The ball (after the punt) made it back to about the line of scrimmage before stopping and dropping practically straight down. Almost looked like it hit a wall, and the team never punted again on 4th down the rest of the game.
The new mexico one, was so funny the other dude caught it with his feet, Unbelievable plays Keep growing!

That MSU field goal attempt reminds me of a playoff game I had in high school. We played in Abilene, TX, and the wind gusts were in the 30s. Our kicker/punter was the top guy in the state. He tried to punt one low and long into the wind, but it ended up being a 7-yard punt officially. The wind literally caught the ball midflight and blew it backward like 25 yards 😂
I seem to recall a game at Soldier Field that made the lowlights on SportsCenter. Heavy cross wind, the city earned it's popular moniker that day. Every FG attempt was wide to the downwind side.
Unfortunately that kick happened in the annual arch rival game against Ole Piss.

That Old Dominion vs. Western Kentucky ending, good God. If I was a Fan of either school I would of had an anxiety attack during those last few plays. Amazing, that's why I love college football, because you never know what will happen if it's close and down to the last few possessions.
And there was 0:00 after the incomplete pass. All that happened with untimed downs 🤣

@@sakura-kg4jm That's not the rule works, though. First, the defender is considered defenseless on the block. Second, QB attacked the D man by contacting his shoulder to the head/neck area. By rule, it's not a good block and targeting was the correct call.

It was targeting. It was a blind side block and contact was made to the head/neck area. It doesn’t matter if the contact was just a “glancing” blow. Anyone can download the NCAA rules book (any NCAA sport) for free! It basically decided into “two” sections. First section is the rules and the second section has examples of plays and what the ruling should be.

Thanks for adding that zona cal clip! These vids are fun. There was a bowl game between Iowa and Oklahoma where the sky camera fell on the field and then Utah and Oregon had a 99 yard fumble return the other way because the player dropped the ball on the 1 yard line thinking he scored a touchdown.
Oddly enough, New Mexico State winning can also count as a rare moment

i don't watch much college football, so it's cool on a play like 14:15 where you recognize every name because they're all fairly notable NFL players now.
A great benefit to following some CFB teams is getting to see their stars continue to shine in the NFL.

5:20 so I actually have some insight into the call given here. Since on field entertainment like band and cheer teams count as part of the home team's on field personnel, they are subjected to the same rules about interfering. They are not allowed to shout or make a show that disrupts play while the play is happening. I am part of a band and we are told specifically, you can stand and cheer, but as soon as the play starts your ass is in a seat, and you are quiet.
That fake right and run left fake punt was genius. Wish we saw more stuff like this in the NFL.

The first one is a really bad call. I don’t think there’s enough evidence to prove he was definitely leading with the crown of his helmet. At least have some kind of yellow card system for these situations where he gets ejected if he does it again
I like how on the first play the announcer was like: “man tight end reverses are rare” not knowing that something much rarer happened on the play
College Football is the Greatest Sport in America. IMO
This is why I love football more than any other sport. Anything at all can happen at any time.
In a 1998 game between Kentucky and LSU, both teams had an extra point blocked and returned for a defensive 2-point conversion.
The game that Kentucky won 39-36? That game hurt so much as a little kid. At least I can take solice in knowing that LSU is 6-1 against Kentucky the century.

1:58 Interceptions in the end zone are relatively common, but they are almost always in the defense's end zone. Interceptions in the offense's end zone for an automatic defensive touchdown are very unusual!
