Thanks Anthony, I have a 120 that lost power. A mechanic advised me to replace the catalytic converter which didn't work. I saw this video, took it to another mechanic, changed the filter and hey presto, all the power in the world. Thanks mate

[From the UK, May 2022] Many thanks for this buddy! This is amazing attention to detail, the level of detail needed to keep our beloved 1KDs on the road!
You're single-handedly making it viable, practical, & cost-effective to keep old 120 Series's on the road!

Just replaced mine. 370,000 km on my 1kd hilux. Still had original on there and was putrid. Blacker than the night sky when I cut it up. Ordered the 7mm egr plate also. Really appreciate these videos mate. Thankyou. I just wish I never had catch can fitted and pre fuel filter years ago, when I fell for the hype.

Just sprayed mine out gently with MAF cleaner, it came out crystal clear from both ends... I guess that 7mm plate for offroad use only also keeps your MAP filter clean! I put the new one in a year ago with 30,000kms on it!

Absolutely mate think about it take the filthy black exhaust soot out of the system then there’s nothing black to make the oil black or the Map Filter, further evidence how well the plate works for those that think it doesn’t because it’s got a hole in it.

Well that was an interesting interaction at Toyota.
Me: Hi Mate, can I get a MAP filter please?
    Parts guy: A what?
    Me: A MAP filter?
    PG: Say again?
    Me: Manifold.Aboslute.Pressure.Filter.
PG: *confused look* - smashes away at the computer
    PG: Oh, a MAF sensor!
Me: Ah, no. MAP filter. Grey cylindrical thing. Pipe going in and out. One black one grey. Passenger side of the engine.
PG: *opens window to workshop* This guys wants a MAP filter?
    *silence*
PG: *Back on the computer* This one on the air filter?
Workshop Guy: No, that's the MAF sensor
    PG: Yeah.
    WG: MAP sensor filter?
    Me: Yes
    PG: *Goes and gets filter*
    Smooth as poo!

I just had the exact same exchange with my Toyota Parts Guy in Italy... it seems to be a timeless and geographically independent discussion at Toyota dealers around the world 😂

You can use a cheap motorcycle universal gas filter as alternative to that expensive part. It even give more power to engine.

Thank you for the hint. Did you test it after a long period of time? Wouldn't it destroy the MAP sensor with carbon build up if the standard motorbike's filter is not appropriate? Thank you for sharing your experience. Since I don't find this MAP filter in the toyota local dealer here. And I don't find any other car manufacturer (VW Peugeot, kia, Isuzu,...) using such filters before MAP sensor.

Just wondering if it is possible to clean the map sensor itself? Haven't had mine apart yet but wondered if the filter is dirty and allowing soot to get past to the sensor then replacing the filter wouldn't completely fix economy problems.

Thank you for sharing your experience. How many km/miles have you used it after cleaning? Did you notice any trouble? Check engine codes or so? Thank you for the feedback.

Found this on eBay last week for $48. Went to Toyota and he quoted $58. I then Humed and hared and he then quoted $54. Don't worry mate, I can get it for $48 bucks on eBay.
Long story short, he price matched. Win win chicken dinner 😁

Hello, first thank you for the interesting video. Do you know if this tiny gaz filter before the MAP sensor exist in other cars but Toyota's ? Could it be replaced by any standard gaz filter? (Not available by toyota dealer where I live). Thank you.

Thanks for all the great and informative info you post. I often find it useful.
I am surprised, however, given that you often suggest contacting you for things you supply, that you don't include an email address or website in your description above.
    Just saying 😉

We don’t push the parts side of it that hard, we don’t have a website we don’t want to email about parts it’s a direct personalize service and a number of times and videos I say you need to call me to buy parts you need to call me or text me that’s the mobile number which we have shown and mentioned in a number of videos listed on this channel and our Facebook pages if you haven’t seen it or got that information you’re gonna need to watch some more videos

Hey what do you think of putting in a stainless steel one? PPI performance sell one so it won't ever crack and can keep forever?

    • @Fourby4Diesel
      @Fourby4Diesel  3 роки тому +5

Not worth the extra money because the filter element needs to be replaced every few years anyway Ideally
They take over 10 years to crack

No point investing extra coin they need to be replaced every few years and they last longer than a few years before they crack usually close to 10 years by then the filter as well past its use by date
