Come one, MGS with Psycho Mantis; he made the controller move (if you had hard flooring) as a proof of his psychic powers; he could "read your mind" (not really, but he was pretty difficult) and the only way (again, kind of not really, but the way you're meant to) to kill him is by unplugging your controller from port 1 to port 2 so he can't "read your mind" anymore. How could you go with MGS 2?

Yeah, but still... MGS man, such a great set of examples for breaking the 4th wall (Finding Meryl's codec on the box, another example, plus a cool way of incorporating copy protection, even if it wasn't particularly usefull after the internet became more widely used).

George Can'tstandya Friggin codec in the box... i bought mgs on the playstation store and when i got to that part I was playing on a place without wi/fi, so i had to wait A MONTH to find out Meryls codec in order to continue the game...

Spec Ops: The Line was such a genious trip from start to finish. I had no idea what I ventured into when I downloaded the game for free on the Plus service.. Such an underrated gem, too bad solid shooters like that doesn't get the attention they deserve. So incredibly well written and played out.
That white phosphorus moment on Spec Ops was incredible, I loved how that game made you struggle to decide whether you're good or bad

Probably my absolute favorite video game channel. It's the honesty and delivery
I literally was half awake after hours and hours of playing MGS2 when that breakdown happened, being half delerious and head nodding off, that really have a weird effect on my mind, I still remember it to this day, especially when the image of the colonel started sketching out and getting scary
i beat assassins creed II at like 3am after having played all weekend when it came out, i was so wired on Mt. Dew and out of it. All that plus that ridiculous mind blowing ending gave me chills for days afterwards, amazing.

Haha this guy is so funny, I've been binge watching these videos instead of doing homework.
Arkham Asylum actually fooled me twice into thinking that my console had screwed up.
I got my copy at a local store(I live in a small city) and I didn't 100% trust the store so when I arrived at the 3rd Scarecrow encounter I legit thought that my copy was broken.
Big Boss Honestly if I had not had the game sitting on my shelf for awhile I probably would have returned it but I also was going through the game that summer cause Arkham City had just been announced and I was super amped for it. One of the only games I 100% completed the main story.

That Codec moment broke me o.o I was playing that at around 2am when it happened, and I was looking around my room making sure I was still awake.
I love that batman:AA one, especially the hint when you 'die' and it say something like move the middle analogue stick to dodge the bullet

I remember some of these moments and have to absolutely agree they were weird. Especially the last one blew my mind the first time, I was playing for like 5 minutes without knowing if there is something wrong or not.

I love the ending to Crono Trigger if you beat the game as quickly as possible. A monster tells you, "And now an ending befitting a player of your haste" and the credits scroll super fast and you are dumped into a room at the end of time where the developers talk to you through monster avatars.

Silent Hill Downpour with the endless staircase, or Eternal Darkness when your sanity level gets too low and it deletes your saves and makes you come out of doors in different places

How do you smell the title of the second entry in the list? Taraway is what it sounds like? By the way, I meant how do you sPell it of course, but when I saw that I wrote sMell, I left it because I would also like to know how the title smells. Then again, I know I already have both of the answers to those questions; I could definitely use Google to find out how to spell the title and I could close my eyes and focus on my breath entering my nostrils to find out how it smells.

Spec ops: the line is one of the very, VERY few games that actually messed with my mind and morality. From the end of the white phosphorus mission, to the end of the game.
Yes, it completely messed with my head from the WP sequence onwards. Had to steam clean my soul afterwards. Game went from dark to pitch black after that. Superb storytelling.

Shout out the heavenly sword 4th wall break at the beginning of the game when she says do something at first you think she talking to someone off screen but when realize she talking to you I chills all over what a great game

That moment when you have the option to kill Bastila, who is like the main protagonist AND your own party companion for over 20+ hours of playtrought in Knights of the Old Repuclic. Its something like you have the option to kill Alistar in Dragon age after a lot of time being with him in your party.
Id say shenmue 2 where you to a Barber and the game tells you have press the button real fast and you actually fonte have to. That was a very Clever way to explain the scene. These games need to be remastered!!!

i understand that this came out well before this games release, but the "ultimate attack" of the final boss of genocide route in undertale is probably the biggest rule break ive ever seen in a video game

Spec Ops: The Line is by far one of the most impressive video game experiences I have had. Sadly, it is so hard to recommend to people without somehow spoiling it though. If they have not already heard about it of course.
Agreed. One of the most harrowing experiences in gaming history. More people need to play this masterpiece. I was quite happy to play it as a casual TPS, but towards the WP sequence it started getting intense and following that, I fell into a WTF am I playing state of mind. It got darker and darker from then on.
Cool list. The ending of Red Dead Redemption was pretty devastating too. Developers clearly taking a leaf from George RR Martin's books! :P
