All my games had a mini boss called "the Raging Mom", the way to activate it is by ignoring the call to eat 3 times, good luck in continuing your game, sometimes it had an ultimate attack called "cutting down electricity".
I had a similar experience. I don’t think I lasted one second . I’ve beaten Sephiroth in KH 2 many times. I love that fight. But haven’t gone back to Sephiroth in KH 1

I remember telling my friend, as a joke, that you had to be level 99 to really beat kingdom Hearts and unlock the secret ending. Then I realised there were a whole slew of secret bosses and, particularly, Sephiroth. Then I had to level up some and get the ultimate weapon to beat him. Turns out, I wasn't joking, after all...
Honestly, I wasn't expecting him to be there after finish watching the first minute of the video, the titles they chose showed what kind of gamers they were.
Sans from Undertale can be considered a secret boss.. and the path needed for you to take in order to be allowed to face him is kinda the very definition of "best left alone"

I'm still ecstatic I beat Emerald Weapon from FFVII back in the day. I call it one of my top achievements in life. along with getting drunk for the first time, first time I got laid, and first time I got paid. killing Emerald Weapon was a million times harder than all of those, combined.
Yup - just getting to the point you could defeat emerald was a pain making a black chocobo was, for all intents and purposes, more difficult than finally facing emerald with KotR.

God I really didn't struggle against him, I died 3 times to him but it was because I kept overestimating him and not drinking Estus when I had to, but after that it wasn't really hard for me to kill him, but I can see why people struggle against him. my top 3 hardest bosses would be: -3 nameless king, -2 dancer of the boreal valley, -1 soul of cinder
God my roommate echoes that sentiment. I was watching him attempt this guy for hours (keep in mind he's played all of the Darksouls and Blood-borne and beat them).
I thought Ruby was harder too, until I learned that Ruby can actually be paralyzed by use of the Dazers. Once I knew that, it was a simple task of Quad Magic W-Summon KotR while he was paralyzed, miming until he broke free, then doing it all over again
***** think I had a master summon matera that I used with final attack.....I think it was. Just took me awhile to master all the summons. My game is saved after I beat them, I wish I didn't do that. Didn't know I could paralyze him
I found him easy, i didnt really know what to do at the dragon part but i just wore the catarina armour because of its really high defense and turtled behind yhorm's greatshield with a crossbow and a lightning estoc

Emerald Weapon is indeed a worthy mention, not for being hard, but because you can bump into him pretty early when totally not ready for him yet. The first time he also totally destroyed our party, without any hope of an upset win. Indeed leaves a memorable impression! However, our most memorable win vs him came when Tifa hit the lucky 7 trance, we could put the controller down and watch her pummel him for several minutes till he was dead. Good memories! :D:D
Two words: Nameless King. That boss and his stupid little bird called the king of storm nearly brought me to tears. At least 20 hours spent battling him but thankfully I eventually defeated him
+MrYuntu there's a very big difference between the phase bosses and Nameless King. All of the other phase bosses, like Lord of Cinder and Abyss Watchers have extremely similar move sets with a few additions, such as Lord of Cinder gaining lightning spears and a few new sword combos (otherwise he's the base Lord of Cinder), and Abyss Watcher getting fire bonuses to his attacks. All of the other bosses have reasonably lower HP than a normal boss, especially Abyss Watchers and Lorian. Both stages of the Nameless King fight have good health pools, and they are completely different. They also both have a completely BS attack, at least for new players: The drake has the downward fire breath attack, and the Nameless King has that wind wall attack.
Oh, yeah. Eclipse was hard as hell. Not quite as bad as trying to solo a raid boss (except for the Invincible Sentinel, obviously. That wasn't nearly as hard as, say, Crawmerax), but still insanely difficult.
+SkullKid20999 to beat her you need to fuse orpheus telos with 4 different strong single target elemental skill (niflheim, patha rei, ragnarok, and thunder reign), attack boost, mind charge(optional) and you must defeat her in 30 turns without using item, almighty attack, or anything that relect her attack otherwise she will spam megidolaon until you die.
Wow, didn't knew she was so problematic for people - she was quite easy for me, that is, not counting the megidolon spam (as I played P3 for the first time I had no way to use the internet so it took me quite some time) :) If you think she's hard to beat you should play Digital Devil Saga on New Game+ and fight the Demi-fiend - not only it's a boss that fights with 3 additional demons, he also resummons new ones if one get's beat and if you think you killed all of his few demons he'll just summon the same ones as he used previously over and over again (endlessly), plus his Titania can actually heal him... Elizabeth is a joke compared to him...
Platinumed the HD release. The hardest, most time-consuming thing I've ever done in a game. Did it with the huge, standard sphere grid even. Worth it :)
+VikingPotatoes I have not played the later Final Fantasies yet as I have not had a system capable of playing them (I had children so that took priority) but I kind of agree with Rob, Emerald is a B**TARD! Even with the netrent and Strategy Guides - It took me nearly 32 attempts to finally bring down Emerald Weapon... And even then I had to spend HOURS going to the Crashed Gelnika to morph Sources to make that even remotely possible!!! Probably why Rob Chose it to be honest - Back in the day - It was the Epitome of EVIL! So while it is now far surpassed... It was the original WTF IS THAT DAMN THING!?
Omega weapon was the most memorable one to me for me for two reasons, 1- it's a hellishly long fight that makes you question if this is all worth it multiple time 2- You can only kill him by becoming invincible since he can literally 1 hit KO your entire party when he feels like it.. and this requires a lot of card games to accomplish..
I was going to post this. First time you fight him you're like, "Yeah, OK I got this." Then he uses Lapis Wave immediately and starts into like a ten hit combo, then you're like, "Oh. Oh no."
Excellent choice for number 1, I would add Ruby Weapon as well. Fun Fact: Emerald Weapon does a move called Aire Tam Storm, which when spelled backwards is Materia Storm (well, not storm, just the word materia). It does more damage the more materia your characters have junctioned. It'll do 9999 if your party is decked out with high level materia.
Emerald isn't really that hard, I feel Ozma's far harder with regards to PS1 FF super bosses. FF7 is an easily cheesed game, and you can just get three characters with multi hit limit breaks, get 'em relatively high level, and stick on one knights of the round. That's four several hit attacks that do massive damage. On another character put slashx2 on and that helps a lot as well. Only three materia counting underwater, and all of these are easy to get.
Ruby is fairly easy. Kill two of your three party members, get Mime, hook KotR with HP Absorb, and you're off to the races. Also helps to have Revive hooked to Final Attack and KotR leveled up. Granted, if you have KotR, the Golden Chocobo you get from beating Ruby is kinda worthless, but the AP/EXP is awesome.
Yeah. I totally agreed with the inclusion of this fight. I think when I finally won I was max level, ultima keyblade, and it still took all day or all weekend to get the win. Death counter would probably have been the infinity symbol because it felt that way. But I am glad it was that hard. I’ve titan was already a major pain in the butt beforehand.
Currently on Portable, Hard difficulty and Monad. Reaper was a nutter with his Megidolaon after I made Abaddon with Makrakarn and Null Physicals. I tried Norn with Panta Rhei with Wind Amp+Wind Boost. The fight was somewhat easier, only lost 15 homunculus, however won barely after having lost my last one.
I beat Sephiroth on kingdom hearts first time. I agree that he was very difficult and it took awhile but once you figure out his moves it’s just the same thing over and over. Patience is very important.
From soft is the king of really epic secret bosses: -Kalameet -Darklurker -Martyr Logarious, Ebriatas, Laurence -Nameless King, Champ Gundyr, Midir. -Demon of Hatred, Owl Father. All would be nearly impossible to find without help for the average gamer, myself included lol
I would like to asks about freya from star ocean 3. just the sweetest and one of the cutest little girl you meet in the game whom you fight in a big ass arena where she has 20,000,000 hp and can basically nuke the map at will. Am I the only one who knows about this terror?
On say your first playthrough and first try yes, shes utter hell and god that Ether Strike... if only it was that powerful in Valkyrie Profile. But once you get good at the game shes fairly easy. I actually find Lenneth to be much harder
i had more of a problem fighting the Fayte clone with the boss of the game again in the tower on 4d Difficulty. that fight alone took 2 hours. and sooo much grinding to be high enough level to not get one shot.
Safersephiroth777 He will approach you in White Run after you reach max level and challenge you to a fight in the mountains to the very far east part of the map in Skyrim. So not really part of the main story, but not exactly "hidden" either.
Not hidden, but I assume that nice percentage of people who saw him cheated or exploited the game in some way, because not a lot of people legitimately hit level 80.
Manus at SL1 was a beast. I ended up resorting to pyromancies and actually died simultaneously with him. Fortunately I got the credit and when I traveled back to the arena my bloodstain was there with my 60k souls.

In Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) you can enter a secret chapter with the prequel's final Boss, the Djinn. That one was kinda difficult to kill... I had to put down the game for almost 5 years before I was able to beat it :D
Why does everyone think that he is hard! It is really weird I found every boss a challenge other than the nameless king and the prince dude. They are the ones other people found hard. I guess that it is just play style differences.
I think a big thing with dancer is that on top of her moves being erratic, she has a few attacks that do MASSIVE damage. Make one mistake, particularly on ng+ or ++ and it could be the end of you.
One of the virages in Legend of the Dragoon you had to beat in a certain number of turns or he would likely wipe you unless you were uber high level, which is near impossible in the game.
The Gorecyclops from Dragon's Dogma:Dark Arisen could also be here. There is a secret one (at least sort of) that is more difficult then the normal ones. Granted once you get to higher levels with the right strategy he's a cakewalk.
the virage your talking about is the one you fight on your way to the dragon block staff and if you are guarding or are in dragoon form (both of which are supposed to halve damage) when the time limit ends and if your characters have at least more than half thier health they will survive the attack and he will die in the process. all killing him in the time limit does is gets you an item and i dont think you get exp if he kills himself. i learned this because i had my dart attacking king albert guarding and miranda in dragoon form using her party healing spell (I forget its name) to heal everyone to max. dart was koed, but king albert and miranda survived.
+Destiny Lipp No, the one I'm talking about you don't have to fight. I didn't even know it existed in my first playthrough. If you are sufficiently high level then you can survive without even guarding, but if you're not then even a guard at full hp you will die. You do still get the experience to my knowledge if he suicides.
That isn't nearly as bad as fighting Faust. Trying to find all 50 stardust was hell enough, but getting to him and NOT letting him spawn his clones is challenging. Aside from he, i don't know anyone who has gotten to him and/or beaten him. Still, glad to know someone remembers that awesome game.
Going to say Sephiroth from KHII only because it was the first secret boss that I actually defeated. I scaled from 50 to 84 in one day in the hopes of beating that titan and constantly kept checking every 5 or 6 levels if I was tough enough to take him. That was a good picnic/party day. :P
Felix Iris Literally the most bullshit boss in the entire game. 30% of the boss is spamming dodge, another 30% is spamming Thunder Surge and the last 40% is praying that it works. Getting caught by ONE of his hits will get your entire health bar deleted.
Devil May Cry 2 - the final Secret room with Dante on DMD mode... It is literally the final Boss from the other story line *twice* (as in 2 of them at once) in permanent devil trigger mode in a small room without escape. It took me only 2 attempts to kill them, however translated into playtime that meant *4hrs!*
I always found Omega Weapon from FF8 (who you did mention in passing, fair enough) to be MUCH more difficult than Emerald in 7. he's the only optional boss I have never managed to beat.
William Ramig Omega weapon was insane. Only way I could do it was card mod Laguna's card for 100 hero items. You could try to get lucky with Rinoa's limited moon, but I couldn't pull it off.
Well, I actually found Última Weapon to bit tad more difficult. Omega, although more powerful, does have a pattern of attacks. Trema from FFX-2... Well, he is an annoying one. Not only you have to fight the equivalent of an Ultima Weapon before him, but you fight him right after the former without time to heal.
Sacrifice the Seifer card once you've beaten the card game[and knocked that cocky second in command off her perch] to get 10 x Invul items. Then show Omega Weapon what a bitch is.
He's not a tough boss, and not nearly close to anything on this list Nameless is so heavenly telegraphed that you can easily dodge anything he throws at you (or just equip the Spirit Tree Crest Shield)
@@deathdreader1145 Agreed, they are just plain wrong. If that's their opinion, then he didn't even fight Ruby. Emerald is objectively easier. You only need max level and Underwater Materia. Emerald is a long fight, not a difficult one.
There are methods that greatly increase the chance of the 1 hit kill attack actually. It's based upon how much money you have and how much money you give. I used to get it nearly every single time. From what I recall, as long as you gave at least 100k and gave exactly half of your total money, he would have a drastically increased chance of using it. And being exactly half meant you needed an even amount of gil. It's weird but it used it 2/3 times for me using that method.
tera in kh2fm wasnt that hard though, sephiroth in kh 1 was incredibly difficult because of the game limitations in combination with so many things jammed into one fight (small stage, 3 one hit kills, no real skills to come back from getting put to 1 hp, etc) whereas kh2 and kh2fm have a lot you can do to mitigate the challenge.
He really isn't. Only reason people find Gascoigne so hard is because you fight him really early in the game. At that point you're still learning how to play the game properly and Gascoigne forces you to adapt to how the game plays. But Gascoigne and Gehrman are both easy enough when you fight them properly but I would definitely say that Gehrman is harder. On subsequent playthroughs of bloodborne he gives me more trouble than Gascoigne. Moon presence is a joke though lol.
I had flashbacks to Legend of Dragoon's secret boss, Faust, who you wouldn't find if you weren't trying, couldn't hurt of you hadn't accumulated all of the Stardust mcguffin items for one side quest, all over the map, netting you the Vanishing Stone, and THEN he casts Double/Triple of the strongest spells in the game, often; I found him considerably harder than even Melbu Frama, and Frama had five? forms.
+Turtle Lord All of Archdragon Peak was secret. You had to kill a secret boss to get a secret gesture (the same secret boss lets you go to the secret area with another secret boss and a really weird alternate universe thing I dunno) and then you use the secret gesture on the secret spot next to the secret dragon man then you get taken to the secret Archdragon Peak after sitting there for about 5 seconds, It was quite secret.
But he's optional so he's a little secret. But yeah I agree the Nameless king would be good for this list. I personally had no trouble with him one try on NG and two tries on NG+ (Still proud of that) but lots of people have so much trouble with him.
Ebrietas is probably the hardest side-boss in the main world. But don't get me started on half of the jerks hiding out in the chalice dungeons. Some of those guys just aren't fair.
+Bakesale59 The issue I have with the bosses in Chalice dungeons is most of the rooms are smaller than the actual boss arena, so the Chalice itself is against you more so than the boss.
Great Joe from Xenosaga Episode 1. Not only does he hit ye like a truck towin' a galleon filled wit' grenades an' nitroglycerin, but when ye find'im, at one point in the battle he tells ye he wants a 1-on-1 wit' Junior, a required character ta find'im, an' if any o' yer allies attack'im, he'll immediate spam'is most powerful attacks that'll either wipe out yer party, or keep ye on the defensive 'til ye run out o' healin'/revival items, an' THEN he'll gut ye like a trout that he plans ta throw inta a pool o' magma.
Elixers maxed out to have plenty of curaga, keep hitting, focusing on rolling at times to let yourself heal, make sure you can have the fast glide too. You can't gauge health for the first while, Dodge and block and take a few runs without using items to practice. You can do it!
Second Chance. I can still remember the low HP alert sound ringing all throughout that fight because I was almost always at 1 HP thanks to Second Chance.
Well maybe you didn't have trouble with him, but he is voted the most difficult and I certainly had trouble. And the run-up can be kind of difficult, not as bad as Blue Smelter but it can definitely be pretty tedious. He also heals if you don't get rid of the 3 Nadalia idols by using the smelter wedges.
Destructive winds Again, not hard to find. This list is about secret bosses. Raime isn't a secret, he's the final boss of the Iron King DLC. Darklurker is the hardest main game DS2 boss AND he is a total secret. He is located in three different places, all of which you would have never have thought to look. Then, you have to kill everything, light the brazier, and exit the Chasm. Do that three times and you'll finally be able to fight Darklurker. Those chasms are so hard, you would probably give up without someone there to help you.
Data Luxord from Kingdom Hearts 2.5, You'd need the reflexes of God himself to match that final attack where you have to get the four O on the command list, if not you're done like dinner.
Mega Man X: Command Mission has more than just one. Rafflesian & Ninetails are utterly ludicrous when compared to how that game's mechanics are supposed to work.
he is nothing compared to these bosses, first phase aren't too hard to beat, and second phase you can have a phantom distracting him while spamming him with arrows
Yamato Hotsuin Do it Solo then try saying that it's easy. He also fits the criteria for the obsecure way you get to him through, so he is a difficult secret boss and that's what matters. I didn't have much trouble with him because I've played all of the other souls games, but I can still see how difficult he could be for new players as evidenced by the countless threads on the /r/darksouls3 subreddit that complain about how hard he is.

I didn't know that BBS had a secret boss. Honestly in terms of secret bosses that make me take the Nope train, Kh1 Clocktower Phantom gets the prize. At least there's something resembling hope in Sephy's battle
Heartz Exodus Most optional bosses in KH2 Final Mix are much more difficult than KH1's Sephiroth, and BBS's Mysterious Figure is easily the hardest in the whole series. And not for the good reasons. Even the speedrunners hate him.
sephiroth isnt exactly hard, expecially when compared with many more trully unfair bosses in the series. the thing is, he is hard because you have to get ready to fight him, hecan down you extremely fast... untill you start planing before fighting him, then, the fight gets much easier, its still tricky to get the timing for his critical attack. but after that, there's not much against him.
I remember killing him in both KH, the only hard thing was the move called "one winged angel" if I'm not mistaking that downs your hp to 1 and leave you without mana, but if you'd time it we'll you could cast the healing spell and have it affect you a second after Seph did his move, so you would have all your fill health. In KH2 I found that the nameless in the beast castle, with all those spears was hard as hell! I haven't played the portable ones so I don't know anything about the other bosses.
Yes Mysterious figure... Its pretty hard, but 1 of most annoying bosses same time so much dodging, blocking and using fire or thunder surges. So annoying.
Many people complained about "nameless King" an optional boss in dark souls III, they said he's the toughest in the game. but tbh I didn't find him THAT hard, he's ok.
Not for me for some reason he kept doing an attack where he'll charge away from me and out of my field of view then come back with a thrust attack from behind the camera that's all he did for me I probably fought him 30 times lost all my ember and when I did have it the damn phantoms that I summoned would get killed almost instantly I eventually just dodged and used chaos flame which took a quarter of his health at a time to beat him.
Moon Presence - bloodborne (is this a joke ? He's not that hard) Sephiroth - KH1 (Again really ? You can easily over power him with Ultimate Keyblade and by being level 99. Try putting Lingering Will here or Any of the data forms) Iwajira - Borderlands Presequel (Dunno, haven't played the presequel) Father Rodin - Bayonetta (Haven't played it) Karstagg - Skyrim ( Wasn't that bad when i fought him) Night Terror (Never fought him, but i suck at fighting games so probably pretty hard) Emerald Weapon ( Hahaha, no. Could definitely fight him easily over and over again) Ruby weapon is harder, Ozma is completely random
Iwajira from borderlands pre sequel is super easy you can take him down in few seconds , no idea why a borderlands boss is on this list. Night terror is hard but it's not the hardest boss in fighting games I beaten. Never played Bayonetta so don't know about the boss ;)
Sorry but I agree with arion, Hitoshima(DDS) and Elizabeth (persona3) were harder than most of this list, the reaper (persona) is up there as well. alot of this list are just dmg sponges.
Well enough alone means that they're difficult to me. Hence Sephiroth, emerald weapon, Karstagg and Rodin being on this list because they're super bosses. Even Iwijira is a raid boss, in other words and end level boss requiring multiple characters the same as terramorphus unless you cheese him or have overwhelming damage. When it comes to this list, i'd much rather fight sephiroth over lingering will. Much rather fight Emerald weapon over Ruby weapon. Much rather fight moon's presence over ebritas
Old King Doran from Demon’s Souls! You can ‘find’ him early in the first level, but to get the key to the Mausoleum you have to kill another NPC. He’s completely optional unless you want the platinum trophy.
Gabriel Celeste from Starocean 4, Easily the worst I've ever seen. Getting to the guy takes hours upon hours of grinding the hidden dungeon he's in. And when you finally get to him, he literally takes half an hour to beat and you get one shot every 2 seconds. Just trying to keep your party alive is a nightmare. I'd add the ethereal queen to this but I never even manage to beat Gabriel Celeste so can't really comment on this haha. Also, from Blazblue Chrono Trigger, If certain criteria were met, you could fight Unlimited Ragna at the end of arcade mode... He was just ridiculous...
The Ethereal Queen is WAAAAAAAY worse since her dungeon is randomized every f***ing time. I once had even a setup where I simply could not beat her dungeon because I couldn`t destroy all the (I think black???) stones. I couldn´t recharge the desintegration thing enough to break everything.
Ethereal Queen is definitely worse. Even if you manage to get to her (which is looking at a 3-hour trek through a randomised dungeon with no save points), you're looking at a ridiculous amount of HP, several attacks that will off your entire party if you're not careful (I highly recommend anti-void gear), and once you've scratched her surface enough her rush gauge stops going down and she uses an AoE 1-hit kill attack (even if you have high enough DEF to withstand it, it'll inflict Void to remove your weapon/armour factors). Better still, she will start spamming this attack. As a final kick to the knackers, there are three battle trophies related to her. Arumat's taunting her 10 times is simple enough (if you survive the battle), but Lymle has two of them: land the finishing blow on EQ in general, and do it withing 10 minutes! Those shall be my final 2 trophies.
I'd say the Star Ocean 2 version of both Gabriel Celeste and Ethereal Queen are the strongest versions. Never did beat Ethereal Queen in SO2, compared to doing it on the other Star Oceans

My first was in star wars force unleashed 3. 90% sure it was just a bug.i turned a corner and got lazered in the face by Darth Vader and died then my game crashed. Never played it again

One of my most memorable and hellishly more difficult than the end boss was Dullahan from the Golden Sun games. I know it isn't technically PlayStation but he can wipe out both your parties in a few turns if you make the wrong move and don't strategize your inventory correctly before going in! One of the best summon tablets you get in the game though, great gear and smithing materials as well! If you ever do a Nintendo hidden boss countdown, he should definitely be number 1
I've beaten Penance, took me about 4 and a half hours, no kidding. It was an extremely boring and repetitive battle, the only why I would die was if I had ran out of items.

going into the fight with 2 squadmates down and double summoning hades and phoenix helps at the beginning. Make sure knight of the round and double summoning are mastered and keep double summoning knights of the round and everyone else use mime materia fully mastered . Makes a hard fight slightly easier
Abel Orihara It is impossible, you have to lose. He goes godmode in a set amount of attacks you do, or use items. EVEN GUARDING DOESN'T HELP!!! He quite literally is the first troll in gaming as your attacks don't hit him. Even in the boss fight he only lets one person hit him at a time. OH and Dragoon? Meet Dragon Buster. I see a lot of people saying Nameless King. It's funny... I actually killed him on my first attempt because I was using a Great Shield with high lightning absorption.

Strangely, the hardest fight I’ve ever had was not a hidden boss... In FF tactics, there is the hidden boss Serpentis in the hidden dungeon, yes... but The imposible fight was a random encounter against 14, yes... 14 dragons! I had several 999 damage combos and still lost!!
The strategy I use against emerald weapon is cait sith's game over trick. Once you master that, you won't even need knights of the round. And if you still want to get it, you can just take the earth harp you get from emerald weapon to this guy in kalm and he'll give you all 3 master materias. It beats having to breed a bunch of chocobos
Im sorry but no. I have major respect for any KH fan like yourself but Sephiroth from KH1 is way harder than lingering will due to sluggish controls and almost no predictable pattern. Lingering will has 3 possible predictable patterns that pretty much let you know every single move he is going to make.
garcon45 I didn't complete symphonia yet so I wouldn't know but i have to disagree she has 2 mystic artes that one shot you and two that bring your whole parties health down to 1 on unknown she's no joke especially if your doing a solo run
i believe abyssion has every one of your party's mystic artes and is immune to all divides. when he's below half, he's immune to unison attacks and switches between multiple fighting styles on the fly. he's definitely harder imo.
garcon45 I just watched the boss fight and he's extremely easy to stagger so that's a huge drawback of his you could hit nebilim a good 10-15 times and she still doesn't stagger abyssion might be a bit harder to solo but overall nebilim is more deadly due to attacks that hit every party member indignation prevents you from moving once she starts casting it and can only be avoided with a perfect placed double jump and on top of that she's also got time stop as well as meteor storm on top of that fridged coffin is a pain to dodge
Joshua Bradford we're also talking about a difference in game mechanics. nebilim is stupidly easy to avoid due to free running. that wasn't in symphonia.
João Vítor Ribeiro it was an amazing game. I’m playing this with my kids right now. However, I feel the storyline wasn’t as interesting to some people. I’m a huge FF7 fan so that had set the bar for me as far as the storyline. I love FF12s huge open world and side quests. I finished the game once and played it again to try and complete it. However, the slow game play and ridiculous requirements to obtain the ultimate weapons left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I am currently playing FF12 TZA and the sped up game helps tremendously. The ultimate weapons are easier to find now. I spent 3 hours trying to kill an elite hunt in the original game. I killed the same hunt on the TZA in about 15 mins. Much improvement.
@@dinoflagella4185 TZA is also easier. There is no damage cap, the bosses had a nerf and there is a lot more chests. The ultimate weapons are also easier to get.

The proper way to kill Emerald Weapon is: you grind and cheat (duplicating items so that you can feed magic pots that makes you materia more powerful) for five days until you have tens of mimes and counter attacks, then you enter the battle, select one option, put the controller down and wait twenty minutes while an extremely long scripted attack takes place and you ask yourself what you are doing with your life.
Lingering Will KH2 > Sephiroth KH1 I've never been killed by ANYTHING that fast. Literally frames. I'm talking single digits. Oh GOD Night Terror was a night terror alright.

I beat nameless king on my first try, only using estus and 1 ember. Martyr logarius was maybe 2 tries. Ebreitas was like 3. The hardest boss in DS2 for me were the sentinels, DS3 was abyss watchers. Bloodborne was blood starved beast. Funny how bosses work like that isn't it. What I find easy, you find hard. What I find hard, you most likely found easy.
If you're gonna put in a Borderlands Secret Boss, you could literally go with any other raid boss ever. You could even put Crawmerax from the original as he was a much harder fight than Iwajira #triggered

All my games had a mini boss called "the Raging Mom", the way to activate it is by ignoring the call to eat 3 times, good luck in continuing your game, sometimes it had an ultimate attack called "cutting down electricity".

Then I realised there were a whole slew of secret bosses and, particularly, Sephiroth. Then I had to level up some and get the ultimate weapon to beat him. Turns out, I wasn't joking, after all...

God I really didn't struggle against him, I died 3 times to him but it was because I kept overestimating him and not drinking Estus when I had to, but after that it wasn't really hard for me to kill him, but I can see why people struggle against him. my top 3 hardest bosses would be: -3 nameless king, -2 dancer of the boreal valley, -1 soul of cinder

I thought Ruby was harder too, until I learned that Ruby can actually be paralyzed by use of the Dazers. Once I knew that, it was a simple task of Quad Magic W-Summon KotR while he was paralyzed, miming until he broke free, then doing it all over again

Emerald Weapon is indeed a worthy mention, not for being hard, but because you can bump into him pretty early when totally not ready for him yet. The first time he also totally destroyed our party, without any hope of an upset win. Indeed leaves a memorable impression!
However, our most memorable win vs him came when Tifa hit the lucky 7 trance, we could put the controller down and watch her pummel him for several minutes till he was dead. Good memories! :D:D

Two words: Nameless King. That boss and his stupid little bird called the king of storm nearly brought me to tears. At least 20 hours spent battling him but thankfully I eventually defeated him

Well the game does 2 in 1 roughly 4 times.
+MrYuntu there's a very big difference between the phase bosses and Nameless King. All of the other phase bosses, like Lord of Cinder and Abyss Watchers have extremely similar move sets with a few additions, such as Lord of Cinder gaining lightning spears and a few new sword combos (otherwise he's the base Lord of Cinder), and Abyss Watcher getting fire bonuses to his attacks. All of the other bosses have reasonably lower HP than a normal boss, especially Abyss Watchers and Lorian. Both stages of the Nameless King fight have good health pools, and they are completely different. They also both have a completely BS attack, at least for new players: The drake has the downward fire breath attack, and the Nameless King has that wind wall attack.
Iwajira is hard???? I farmed the hell out of it, compared to other secret bosses in games this one isn't very challenging :S
Eclipse from claptraps dlc was so much harder the first time i fought him, had to fight him quite a few times to kill him.
Oh, yeah. Eclipse was hard as hell. Not quite as bad as trying to solo a raid boss (except for the Invincible Sentinel, obviously. That wasn't nearly as hard as, say, Crawmerax), but still insanely difficult.

+SkullKid20999 to beat her you need to fuse orpheus telos with 4 different strong single target elemental skill (niflheim, patha rei, ragnarok, and thunder reign), attack boost, mind charge(optional) and you must defeat her in 30 turns without using item, almighty attack, or anything that relect her attack otherwise she will spam megidolaon until you die.
Wow, didn't knew she was so problematic for people - she was quite easy for me, that is, not counting the megidolon spam (as I played P3 for the first time I had no way to use the internet so it took me quite some time) :)
If you think she's hard to beat you should play Digital Devil Saga on New Game+ and fight the Demi-fiend - not only it's a boss that fights with 3 additional demons, he also resummons new ones if one get's beat and if you think you killed all of his few demons he'll just summon the same ones as he used previously over and over again (endlessly), plus his Titania can actually heal him...

Even with the netrent and Strategy Guides - It took me nearly 32 attempts to finally bring down Emerald Weapon... And even then I had to spend HOURS going to the Crashed Gelnika to morph Sources to make that even remotely possible!!!
Probably why Rob Chose it to be honest - Back in the day - It was the Epitome of EVIL! So while it is now far surpassed... It was the original WTF IS THAT DAMN THING!?

Idk, BUNK3R was pretty freaking easy if you had a decent corrosive weapon. Stand on the invulnerable farm spot and shoot. Easy as pie.
Omega weapon was the most memorable one to me for me for two reasons,
1- it's a hellishly long fight that makes you question if this is all worth it multiple time
2- You can only kill him by becoming invincible since he can literally 1 hit KO your entire party when he feels like it.. and this requires a lot of card games to accomplish..
Just have Rinoa in the Party, use Aura, and make sure she has the 'Invincible Moon' Limit Break learned. Easier to do than aeons of Card play 😉

Excellent choice for number 1, I would add Ruby Weapon as well.
Fun Fact: Emerald Weapon does a move called Aire Tam Storm, which when spelled backwards is Materia Storm (well, not storm, just the word materia). It does more damage the more materia your characters have junctioned. It'll do 9999 if your party is decked out with high level materia.

Ruby Weapon was the biggest headache in that game.
Emerald isn't really that hard, I feel Ozma's far harder with regards to PS1 FF super bosses. FF7 is an easily cheesed game, and you can just get three characters with multi hit limit breaks, get 'em relatively high level, and stick on one knights of the round. That's four several hit attacks that do massive damage. On another character put slashx2 on and that helps a lot as well. Only three materia counting underwater, and all of these are easy to get.
That's why Ruby is much more difficult. I didn't find Ozma so hard, it was just TOO MUCH time invested preparing to fight him.
Ruby is fairly easy. Kill two of your three party members, get Mime, hook KotR with HP Absorb, and you're off to the races. Also helps to have Revive hooked to Final Attack and KotR leveled up.
Granted, if you have KotR, the Golden Chocobo you get from beating Ruby is kinda worthless, but the AP/EXP is awesome.

Yeah. I totally agreed with the inclusion of this fight. I think when I finally won I was max level, ultima keyblade, and it still took all day or all weekend to get the win. Death counter would probably have been the infinity symbol because it felt that way. But I am glad it was that hard. I’ve titan was already a major pain in the butt beforehand.

I was about to say this and pressed control+f to see if persona was at least mentioned somewhere.. Somehow I knew someone should have said this.
Currently on Portable, Hard difficulty and Monad. Reaper was a nutter with his Megidolaon after I made Abaddon with Makrakarn and Null Physicals. I tried Norn with Panta Rhei with Wind Amp+Wind Boost. The fight was somewhat easier, only lost 15 homunculus, however won barely after having lost my last one.
I beat Sephiroth on kingdom hearts first time. I agree that he was very difficult and it took awhile but once you figure out his moves it’s just the same thing over and over. Patience is very important.

-Demon of Hatred, Owl Father.
All would be nearly impossible to find without help for the average gamer, myself included lol

On say your first playthrough and first try yes, shes utter hell and god that Ether Strike... if only it was that powerful in Valkyrie Profile. But once you get good at the game shes fairly easy. I actually find Lenneth to be much harder
i had more of a problem fighting the Fayte clone with the boss of the game again in the tower on 4d Difficulty. that fight alone took 2 hours. and sooo much grinding to be high enough level to not get one shot.
I beat them all on first try easy enough and then I went back with, Gusty Bunny because why not. (still won to my dislike though)

He will approach you in White Run after you reach max level and challenge you to a fight in the mountains to the very far east part of the map in Skyrim. So not really part of the main story, but not exactly "hidden" either.
Enuma Elish Technically then he isn't a story boss. But I haven't played any of the DLC's so I don't know if he is tougher than that Frost Giant.
He challenge you then turns his back at you. My level 80 assassin threw his corpse under the bridge in Whiterun.
Not hidden, but I assume that nice percentage of people who saw him cheated or exploited the game in some way, because not a lot of people legitimately hit level 80.

Manus at SL1 was a beast. I ended up resorting to pyromancies and actually died simultaneously with him. Fortunately I got the credit and when I traveled back to the arena my bloodstain was there with my 60k souls.

In Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) you can enter a secret chapter with the prequel's final Boss, the Djinn.
That one was kinda difficult to kill...

I think a big thing with dancer is that on top of her moves being erratic, she has a few attacks that do MASSIVE damage. Make one mistake, particularly on ng+ or ++ and it could be the end of you.
Sephiroth's attack is called Heartless Angel, not Sin's Harvest
Sin Harvest is what he says when he uses it, so that's the assumption most folks make.
He says "Descend, heartless angel". Search it on youtube and you can hear it yourself.

One of the virages in Legend of the Dragoon you had to beat in a certain number of turns or he would likely wipe you unless you were uber high level, which is near impossible in the game.
The Gorecyclops from Dragon's Dogma:Dark Arisen could also be here. There is a secret one (at least sort of) that is more difficult then the normal ones. Granted once you get to higher levels with the right strategy he's a cakewalk.
the virage your talking about is the one you fight on your way to the dragon block staff and if you are guarding or are in dragoon form (both of which are supposed to halve damage) when the time limit ends and if your characters have at least more than half thier health they will survive the attack and he will die in the process. all killing him in the time limit does is gets you an item and i dont think you get exp if he kills himself. i learned this because i had my dart attacking king albert guarding and miranda in dragoon form using her party healing spell (I forget its name) to heal everyone to max. dart was koed, but king albert and miranda survived.
+Destiny Lipp No, the one I'm talking about you don't have to fight. I didn't even know it existed in my first playthrough. If you are sufficiently high level then you can survive without even guarding, but if you're not then even a guard at full hp you will die. The Chained Gorecyclops is pretty easy if you're a magic archer. Just stand in the entrance and shoot him in the head.
That isn't nearly as bad as fighting Faust. Trying to find all 50 stardust was hell enough, but getting to him and NOT letting him spawn his clones is challenging. Aside from he, i don't know anyone who has gotten to him and/or beaten him. Still, glad to know someone remembers that awesome game.

Going to say Sephiroth from KHII only because it was the first secret boss that I actually defeated. I scaled from 50 to 84 in one day in the hopes of beating that titan and constantly kept checking every 5 or 6 levels if I was tough enough to take him. That was a good picnic/party day. :P

Felix Iris Literally the most bullshit boss in the entire game. 30% of the boss is spamming dodge, another 30% is spamming Thunder Surge and the last 40% is praying that it works. Getting caught by ONE of his hits will get your entire health bar deleted.

It is literally the final Boss from the other story line *twice* (as in 2 of them at once) in permanent devil trigger mode in a small room without escape.
It took me only 2 attempts to kill them, however translated into playtime that meant *4hrs!*
I always found Omega Weapon from FF8 (who you did mention in passing, fair enough) to be MUCH more difficult than Emerald in 7. he's the only optional boss I have never managed to beat.
William Ramig Omega weapon was insane. Only way I could do it was card mod Laguna's card for 100 hero items. You could try to get lucky with Rinoa's limited moon, but I couldn't pull it off.
Well, I actually found Última Weapon to bit tad more difficult. Omega, although more powerful, does have a pattern of attacks. Trema from FFX-2... Well, he is an annoying one. Not only you have to fight the equivalent of an Ultima Weapon before him, but you fight him right after the former without time to heal.
Sacrifice the Seifer card once you've beaten the card game[and knocked that cocky second in command off her perch] to get 10 x Invul items. Then show Omega Weapon what a bitch is.
Or Laguna card, I forget which. but I thought Seifer card gave you God of Wars

Once you learn Quick Hit and can teach it to everyone via skill spheres then literally any boss becomes trivial since they almost never get a turn.
There are methods that greatly increase the chance of the 1 hit kill attack actually. It's based upon how much money you have and how much money you give. I used to get it nearly every single time.
From what I recall, as long as you gave at least 100k and gave exactly half of your total money, he would have a drastically increased chance of using it. And being exactly half meant you needed an even amount of gil. It's weird but it used it 2/3 times for me using that method.

tera in kh2fm wasnt that hard though, sephiroth in kh 1 was incredibly difficult because of the game limitations in combination with so many things jammed into one fight (small stage, 3 one hit kills, no real skills to come back from getting put to 1 hp, etc) whereas kh2 and kh2fm have a lot you can do to mitigate the challenge.

I think Gascoigne is pretty easy. Just stun lock. Fight it or whatever.
He really isn't. Only reason people find Gascoigne so hard is because you fight him really early in the game. At that point you're still learning how to play the game properly and Gascoigne forces you to adapt to how the game plays. But Gascoigne and Gehrman are both easy enough when you fight them properly but I would definitely say that Gehrman is harder. On subsequent playthroughs of bloodborne he gives me more trouble than Gascoigne.
Moon presence is a joke though lol.

I had flashbacks to Legend of Dragoon's secret boss, Faust, who you wouldn't find if you weren't trying, couldn't hurt of you hadn't accumulated all of the Stardust mcguffin items for one side quest, all over the map, netting you the Vanishing Stone, and THEN he casts Double/Triple of the strongest spells in the game, often; I found him considerably harder than even Melbu Frama, and Frama had five? forms.

Not only does he hit ye like a truck towin' a galleon filled wit' grenades an' nitroglycerin, but when ye find'im, at one point in the battle he tells ye he wants a 1-on-1 wit' Junior, a required character ta find'im, an' if any o' yer allies attack'im, he'll immediate spam'is most powerful attacks that'll either wipe out yer party, or keep ye on the defensive 'til ye run out o' healin'/revival items, an' THEN he'll gut ye like a trout that he plans ta throw inta a pool o' magma.
Though fun part o' the fight: He sounds like Goofy, an' he looks like a cowboy.

Elixers maxed out to have plenty of curaga, keep hitting, focusing on rolling at times to let yourself heal, make sure you can have the fast glide too. You can't gauge health for the first while, Dodge and block and take a few runs without using items to practice. You can do it!
Second Chance. I can still remember the low HP alert sound ringing all throughout that fight because I was almost always at 1 HP thanks to Second Chance.

Easy to find, not all that hard to beat. He wasn't a secret boss (Sir Alonne was more of a secret).
Well maybe you didn't have trouble with him, but he is voted the most difficult and I certainly had trouble. And the run-up can be kind of difficult, not as bad as Blue Smelter but it can definitely be pretty tedious. He also heals if you don't get rid of the 3 Nadalia idols by using the smelter wedges.
Destructive winds
Again, not hard to find. This list is about secret bosses. Raime isn't a secret, he's the final boss of the Iron King DLC. Darklurker is the hardest main game DS2 boss AND he is a total secret. He is located in three different places, all of which you would have never have thought to look. Then, you have to kill everything, light the brazier, and exit the Chasm. Do that three times and you'll finally be able to fight Darklurker. Those chasms are so hard, you would probably give up without someone there to help you.
Data Luxord from Kingdom Hearts 2.5, You'd need the reflexes of God himself to match that final attack where you have to get the four O on the command list, if not you're done like dinner.
Mega Man X: Command Mission has more than just one. Rafflesian & Ninetails are utterly ludicrous when compared to how that game's mechanics are supposed to work.

Yamato Hotsuin Do it Solo then try saying that it's easy. He also fits the criteria for the obsecure way you get to him through, so he is a difficult secret boss and that's what matters. I didn't have much trouble with him because I've played all of the other souls games, but I can still see how difficult he could be for new players as evidenced by the countless threads on the /r/darksouls3 subreddit that complain about how hard he is.

Most optional bosses in KH2 Final Mix are much more difficult than KH1's Sephiroth, and BBS's Mysterious Figure is easily the hardest in the whole series. And not for the good reasons. Even the speedrunners hate him.
sephiroth isnt exactly hard, expecially when compared with many more trully unfair bosses in the series.
the thing is, he is hard because you have to get ready to fight him, hecan down you extremely fast... untill you start planing before fighting him, then, the fight gets much easier, its still tricky to get the timing for his critical attack. but after that, there's not much against him.
I remember killing him in both KH, the only hard thing was the move called "one winged angel" if I'm not mistaking that downs your hp to 1 and leave you without mana, but if you'd time it we'll you could cast the healing spell and have it affect you a second after Seph did his move, so you would have all your fill health. In KH2 I found that the nameless in the beast castle, with all those spears was hard as hell!
I haven't played the portable ones so I don't know anything about the other bosses.
Yes Mysterious figure... Its pretty hard, but 1 of most annoying bosses same time so much dodging, blocking and using fire or thunder surges. So annoying.
Many people complained about "nameless King" an optional boss in dark souls III, they said he's the toughest in the game. but tbh I didn't find him THAT hard, he's ok.

Not for me for some reason he kept doing an attack where he'll charge away from me and out of my field of view then come back with a thrust attack from behind the camera that's all he did for me I probably fought him 30 times lost all my ember and when I did have it the damn phantoms that I summoned would get killed almost instantly I eventually just dodged and used chaos flame which took a quarter of his health at a time to beat him.

Sorry but I agree with arion, Hitoshima(DDS) and Elizabeth (persona3) were harder than most of this list, the reaper (persona) is up there as well. alot of this list are just dmg sponges.
Well enough alone means that they're difficult to me. Hence Sephiroth, emerald weapon, Karstagg and Rodin being on this list because they're super bosses. Even Iwijira is a raid boss, in other words and end level boss requiring multiple characters the same as terramorphus unless you cheese him or have overwhelming damage.
When it comes to this list, i'd much rather fight sephiroth over lingering will. Much rather fight Emerald weapon over Ruby weapon. Much rather fight moon's presence over ebritas

Old King Doran from Demon’s Souls! You can ‘find’ him early in the first level, but to get the key to the Mausoleum you have to kill another NPC. He’s completely optional unless you want the platinum trophy.
Gabriel Celeste from Starocean 4, Easily the worst I've ever seen. Getting to the guy takes hours upon hours of grinding the hidden dungeon he's in. And when you finally get to him, he literally takes half an hour to beat and you get one shot every 2 seconds. Just trying to keep your party alive is a nightmare. I'd add the ethereal queen to this but I never even manage to beat Gabriel Celeste so can't really comment on this haha.
Also, from Blazblue Chrono Trigger, If certain criteria were met, you could fight Unlimited Ragna at the end of arcade mode... He was just ridiculous...
The Ethereal Queen is WAAAAAAAY worse since her dungeon is randomized every f***ing time. I once had even a setup where I simply could not beat her dungeon because I couldn`t destroy all the (I think black???) stones. I couldn´t recharge the desintegration thing enough to break everything.
Ethereal Queen is definitely worse. Even if you manage to get to her (which is looking at a 3-hour trek through a randomised dungeon with no save points), you're looking at a ridiculous amount of HP, several attacks that will off your entire party if you're not careful (I highly recommend anti-void gear), and once you've scratched her surface enough her rush gauge stops going down and she uses an AoE 1-hit kill attack (even if you have high enough DEF to withstand it, it'll inflict Void to remove your weapon/armour factors). Better still, she will start spamming this attack.
As a final kick to the knackers, there are three battle trophies related to her. Arumat's taunting her 10 times is simple enough (if you survive the battle), but Lymle has two of them: land the finishing blow on EQ in general, and do it withing 10 minutes! Those shall be my final 2 trophies.
I'd say the Star Ocean 2 version of both Gabriel Celeste and Ethereal Queen are the strongest versions. Never did beat Ethereal Queen in SO2, compared to doing it on the other Star Oceans

One of my most memorable and hellishly more difficult than the end boss was Dullahan from the Golden Sun games. I know it isn't technically PlayStation but he can wipe out both your parties in a few turns if you make the wrong move and don't strategize your inventory correctly before going in! One of the best summon tablets you get in the game though, great gear and smithing materials as well! If you ever do a Nintendo hidden boss countdown, he should definitely be number 1

I've beaten Penance, took me about 4 and a half hours, no kidding. It was an extremely boring and repetitive battle, the only why I would die was if I had ran out of items.

Make sure knight of the round and double summoning are mastered and keep double summoning knights of the round and everyone else use mime materia fully mastered .

He quite literally is the first troll in gaming as your attacks don't hit him. Even in the boss fight he only lets one person hit him at a time. OH and Dragoon? Meet Dragon Buster. Unless you have talisman. Then Lloyd quite literally tries killing that person over and over....his AI physics break.

The strategy I use against emerald weapon is cait sith's game over trick. Once you master that, you won't even need knights of the round. And if you still want to get it, you can just take the earth harp you get from emerald weapon to this guy in kalm and he'll give you all 3 master materias. It beats having to breed a bunch of chocobos
I didnt farm for levels in FF7 and I got to Emerald and got instantly one-shot. Needless to say I didnt go after him again.

Im sorry but no. I have major respect for any KH fan like yourself but Sephiroth from KH1 is way harder than lingering will due to sluggish controls and almost no predictable pattern. Lingering will has 3 possible predictable patterns that pretty much let you know every single move he is going to make.

i believe abyssion has every one of your party's mystic artes and is immune to all divides. when he's below half, he's immune to unison attacks and switches between multiple fighting styles on the fly. he's definitely harder imo.
garcon45 I just watched the boss fight and he's extremely easy to stagger so that's a huge drawback of his you could hit nebilim a good 10-15 times and she still doesn't stagger abyssion might be a bit harder to solo but overall nebilim is more deadly due to attacks that hit every party member indignation prevents you from moving once she starts casting it and can only be avoided with a perfect placed double jump and on top of that she's also got time stop as well as meteor storm on top of that fridged coffin is a pain to dodge

João Vítor Ribeiro it was an amazing game. I’m playing this with my kids right now. However, I feel the storyline wasn’t as interesting to some people. I’m a huge FF7 fan so that had set the bar for me as far as the storyline. I love FF12s huge open world and side quests. I finished the game once and played it again to try and complete it. However, the slow game play and ridiculous requirements to obtain the ultimate weapons left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I am currently playing FF12 TZA and the sped up game helps tremendously. The ultimate weapons are easier to find now. I spent 3 hours trying to kill an elite hunt in the original game. I killed the same hunt on the TZA in about 15 mins. Much improvement.
@@dinoflagella4185 TZA is also easier. There is no damage cap, the bosses had a nerf and there is a lot more chests. The ultimate weapons are also easier to get.

The proper way to kill Emerald Weapon is: you grind and cheat (duplicating items so that you can feed magic pots that makes you materia more powerful) for five days until you have tens of mimes and counter attacks, then you enter the battle, select one option, put the controller down and wait twenty minutes while an extremely long scripted attack takes place and you ask yourself what you are doing with your life.

I beat nameless king on my first try, only using estus and 1 ember. Martyr logarius was maybe 2 tries. Ebreitas was like 3.
The hardest boss in DS2 for me were the sentinels, DS3 was abyss watchers. Bloodborne was blood starved beast.

If you're gonna put in a Borderlands Secret Boss, you could literally go with any other raid boss ever. You could even put Crawmerax from the original as he was a much harder fight than Iwajira #triggered

none of the raid bosses are secret. you literally get a mission to go kill all of them
Crawmerax and Iwajira were the only raid bosses I could beat solo. I thought I was a pretty good BL player, until I met Terramorphous and Vermivorous.
The Fat Turtle iwajira is not a raid boss please stop saying it is he’s a mini boss by borderlands standards since he doesn’t have the giant health bar at the top of the screen
