Isn't it more satisfying figuring it out on your own? Trying out all the Windows 3.11 drivers and reloading the CD drivers over and over

Also debloating your windows is a good idea lol

I decided to try a 6600 on my Victus without upgrading the PSU because of this video. Kept the Risen cpu 5600 and had already increased to 16G of RAM. Running super smooth and doubled FPS! THANKS!!!
What psu do you have mine has the 350 but I see the new ones have 500
@@Luis-kl5nz It has the 350 because mine came with the RX6400 which doesn't require much, but the RX6600 is running really nice and the temps are just fine. If I had one with the 500 I would feel comfortable going with a more demanding card, but I'm seriously impressed with the 6600.
@@JorgeBarrazayou’re able to run the 6600 on the 350w psu? Did you undervolt it?
@@sinosoul Nope.
@@sinosoul Nope. And I've even overclocked it a bit without any issues, but I don't run it like that for the most part.
i actually have this pc myself and i don’t regreat buying it, i got it for 500 and smth from my loco best buy its my first pc and for the price i think it’s worth it ! my other friends bought the same pc and we being using it and we love it! we are just some 15 year old broke high school students and with our jobs that barely pay this is amazing for us! i will most likely upgrade mine and i will probably use the same stuff you guys used to upgrade mine !
Really appreciate you guys testing this out! Been eyeing these 15L Victus to possibly upgrade as well. But the power supply was concerning me. Thanks for keeping it Toasty, Bro’s! 🤘🔥
Power supply is definitely a concern, but you can snag an ok one for sub 70 bucks. These aren't meant to be a replacement necessarily to a custom pc, and oem parts will always be limited opposed to building. But for some they get the job done and that's all that matters. You hit a brick wall definitely modding these and making an upgrade path. But some don't need those features or expansion and just want a simple solution for their couple games they like to lpay
@@Spenlard HP does have a special connector for power, that normal power supplies don't have. They don't use a 24pin ATX connector, they use some very weird proprietary connection
@@KrunchTastic Might just be the way she goes for those boards.
I ordered a victus and it’s getting here in a few days.. I was worrying about the power supply also but it seems really easy to upgrade so not really a problem
@@AviatingRandom hey man have you upgraded anything on it?
Now this is how you upgrade a PC! Great video, love what you did!
McAfee is the blight of present day gaming. In fact, the way it controls your machine resembles more like a virus than an anti-virus. It's good to see you guys were able to upgrade pre-built but I still say building your own rig will give you a much wider upgrade path.
Please do more videos about this computer. I bought it about four months ago and it’s the first computer that I’ve ever owned so I’m really glad to see that y’all appreciate it as much as I do.

I just got this computer with a i7 GPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 for like $800 during their back to school sale! I'll definitely be upgrading the RAM and memory storage in time but I'm super happy with this deal. Can't wait till it shows up! Thanks for all the solid info, really helped me find something great in my price range.
How much gpu clearance and how big is that gpu
how is the heat and cooling I am worried that it will throttle or shutdown if too hot... do you ever have this problem after several hours of gaming
@@ronmccord44 So, the computer does get a little hot after a long gaming sesh... But I've ran cyberpunk 2077 for like 8+ hours at times, which is known for making PC's run hot and never had the computer shutdown from heat. That being said I use the HP Omen settings that came with the computer to keep the internal fans on high at all times.
damn that is a great deal...... good to know about the heat....... @@TheJoker-bz2uz
I also had the same issue with the RX6400 drivers and Adrenaline!!!! Was able to use DDUClean, install the drivers through HPSevices - which had a driver incompatible with Adrenaline. Ran the AMD installer again, updated to the current graphics driver for the GPU and good to go, no more boot loop. It was a pain and took a couple trips into Safe Mode.
yall are the reason i bought this pc i had a msi and it was terrible but i love my hp alot!!!!
Since you probably want to upgrade the drive anyway it's worth suggesting just doing a clean install of windows anyway. That probably would solve most of the driver install issues.
Smart move to go with Intel, since Ryzen based ones are locked out of SAM. Another thing to look out for is although you can upgrade to higher speeds of RAM, they run at JEDEC timings CL22🤢. You can get really creative with adding storage:
A 3.5 can be mounted behind the front fascia, a 2.5 underneath the black metal tray that was removed, or go with an NVMe via expansion cards. Of course fans can attach to those same points.
HP VICTUS 15L on clearance at Walmart $229 right now
You might try this with a 6700-non XT model. It still only needs a single 8 pin with sub 200Watts.
It would be nice to see performance comparisons for different configurations.
TDP is not directly reflective of the actual power draw of the chip, I think the 6600 is based on a mobile chip so it runs on very low power draw hence AMD suggesting it can run safely on a 300W PSU compared to the 450W they suggest for the 6700.
I have an HP Pavilion TG01-0023W, Started with a Ryzen 5 3500 and a 1650 Super with a 400 watt PSU
I'm now a madman with a Ryzen 7 3700x and an RTX 2070 on that same PSU
These HPs aren't as bad as people say, love the videos Toasty Bros, stay awesome

Put a rx6600 into my victus and it powers down randomly a few seconds after starting it up … Any ideas?
Boot into safe mode, disable onboard gpu. run ddu, reboot, disable auto software update, install catalyst pro driver without checking factory reset, reboot.
I think it is nice that you guys keep helping your viewers with the game and windows keys. thanks for everything guys!
Love watching some PC builds. Awesome video still can't believe that the cards just made it🤣
imo the 15L as excellent thermal performance with no intake fan, one exhaust fan, and the generic aluminum heatsink
I just got an AMD example in good shape fairly cheap. 5600G/RX6400. The 5600G is good enough, I have the 350W and looking at the power draw, even that could run a good amount of cards over the 6400. Added 8 more GB of ram, a 1TB HDD for older software and an EZDIY 120MM fan and controller for the side intake.
Now it has has RGB and runs cooler 😂 (I just rock a red color scheme there though)
Yeah, you can't go much hmore powerful than this setup due to airflow and motherboard limitations. Another video idea could be upgrading the PSU with a more powerful unit and adapters for HP's weird motherboards, also fan upgrades with a SATA-powered fan hub maybe?
Yeah and while they're at it, just build a whole new computer.
HP used to have a 500W PSU that would be a direct drop in. I don’t know if it’s still available though.
@@zeroturn7091 possibly except they are very expensive, even a used one is over £100 here in the UK. I'd be interested to see a Corsair TX or a similarly sized unit in there with adapters to see if there is any performance boost, especially out of that RX6600...
@@zeroturn7091 Those cost $60-100+ now, not even worth it.
The power color version of this graphics card would have fitted it perfectly
Good to know! I just got the power color 6600 for this prebuilt. Thought I might have to return it.
I just bought one of these and noticed I have to run GTA RP like a snail. Glad to know my pc would be easy to upgrade down the line
I have the HP-TG01 that had the Ryzen 3500 and 1650 Super, and all I did was upgrade the nvme storage, add another 8gb ram stick for dual channel, and switch the GPU to an old RTX 2060 and its been a solid 1080p/60fps Gaming PC. Even better performance on older games lol. I would go with the 6600/6600xt though now if you have that option, AMD was still on Rx 5xxx series when I bought the HP Prebuilt PC so I went with Nvidia at the time.
This is actually just a gaming pavilion tg01-2xxx replica in a new outer case with a lga 1700 socket. the inside of my prebuilt from them looks the exact same.
Great video for those out there who might be intimidated by upgrading a PC or of course building their own, though as a personal preference I like the double-line Thermal Pasting method for Alder Lake as well as the criss-cross mounting though for this cooler and a locked CPU it shouldn't matter a ton. I also felt more suspense than I should've when watching Jack and Matt barely squeezing the RX 6600 into the PCIe of that practically SFF chassis. I gotta say even though I despise the torx-flathead screws HP uses I gotta hand it to them for putting in efficient PSUs that have enough wattage to handle any sort of reasonable upgrades as opposed to Dell and the piddly wattage on their Inspiron lineup for example.
Having an 8 pin PCIe cable in a budget friendly prebuilt also helps, no need to jerry rig power from the SATA connector so you can still add in a 2.5 SSD. By the time you sell off or reuse the old parts this cheeky upgrade makes for an affordable and pretty nice and tidy looking gaming PC for 1080P AAA gaming. It's more or less the same as my PC except I'm on Zen 3 and use a 2060Super. I anyone is worried about the PSU they can always put in a small undervolt to lower consumption a bit but AMD only suggest a 300W PSU for this card anyhoo so there's enough headroom in the fitted PSU to be confident it'll last for years.
Was the problem caused by the gpu?
You can really upgrade them.
The problem is that you are very limited in a few key areas.
A. Cpu support
B. Very little customizable settings (bios access limited)
C.Repairs are also limited.
plus alot of these pcs have proprietary psu connectors to the mobo making it impossible to upgrade the psu without doing some funky soldering
@@darkkingastos4369 if you get lucky some Chinese manufacturers may sell compatible psu adapters on eBay or Amazon
@@mcslender2965 i'm pretty sure that will be the case i the future, its what happened to dell optiplex and lenovo thinkcentre pc's if you wanted to change the psu there was a cheap adaptor you could buy

I have had the exact issue discussed in this video regarding booting off the internal ssd with more than one hp desktop in the past. I personally believe this is an hp reliability issue, I find their products great otherwise.
Its because bios defaults to RAID. You have to go back into it and set it back to AHCI
I was really wavering over getting a Victus because I've heard prebuilds from HP or dell have a bad rep because of all the proprietary stuff. This showed me it is upgradable if I want to increase the ram or graphics! I'm just a casual gamer so the basic setup would be suitable for me.
i put an rx 6600 in my pre-built, its one of the older ones with the i5-11400 but it only had a 500w 80+ gold power supply and its actually sitting on 4 x 12v rails at like 18 amp each and I thought i might have a problem running the 6600 but I havent had any problems and on full load I cant get the card to go over 100 watts of usage on stock settings
That is what a stock Rx 6600 pulls. 100 watts max. You can use amd adrenaline software to max the power output to 120watt.
@@chrisanytime1 yeah thats what I said, stock settings lol
In my experience you have to reset windows if you change gpu no matter what nvidia to better nvidia amd to better amd doesn’t matter you always have to reset windows and let it download its drivers automatically
More of these sort of videos please with prebuilts that have really low wattage power supplies
I love that you guys know your viewers, most people are gaming on 1080 or 1440, according to steam almost 80% combined, with 65% of that being 1080p.

You could try an evga xc RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 TI graphics card which is only 1.5cm apart from an RTX 2060 from a fan.
But they would have to get a 400 watt or 500 watt power supply to make up for the performance.
YES
As I mentioned in the previous victus video
Just bought this for my brother and I was wondering how I'd upgrade it!
I just bought this gpu and the same thing happened to me while getting my drivers installed! It's probably an issue with the card bios or something whe you're installing it into a system thats had another gpu in it. Had to fully reinstall windows but it's working fine now

Tomorrow's video: "... But first a message from our sponsor: McAfee"
I got this pc for Christmas and it runs very good just needs some minor changes and upgrades.
Do the RAM first, just wack a cheap 16GB CL16 kit in it and you'll get an instant boost in a lot of games from the dual channel. After that most of the next increase in performance (the biggest overall) will come from the GPU upgrade. I'd probably leave the CPU until they start getting cheap on the used market or in a clearance.
@@darthwiizius Why CL16?The included one is CL22, doesn´t make sense putting in better RAM
@@leruty
CL16 is so cheap now there's no reason not to, those cl22 timings will hold back the CPU. I picked up a used kit of cl16 with flashing lights on it the other day, Kingston Fury or Hyper X, can't remember and don't care once it's in and working, for £20.
@darthwiizius would another stick of A tech -8gb DDR4 work ?
@@juke99
If it's the same speed and timings it should work regardless of branding and it would still be better than running it single channel, it's best to stick with identical pairs because outside of the XMP boost speed base speeds and timings can vary. The dual channel part is the most important part but AM4 systems are a bit sensitive to RAM speed so below 3200mhz you do get a bit of a drop off, though not normally as much as running single channel.

Next you should do a video where you upgrade the power supply and throw in the smallest 3080 or 6800XT you can find that can fit. Go to the max!
The HP Victus in this video has a proprietary power supply so it can't be swapped out for a higher wattage one, so throwing in a 3080 or 6800XT like you said is never gonna happen lol.
I tried throwing a 3060 12gb and it works great

will the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX4060 OC White edition 8GB GDDR6 fit in terms of height?
If you're planning to go with HP Victus, get a model with RTX 3060 Ti already built-in. Then you only need to upgrade RAM and SSD in the future. However, be warned that the motherboard and PSU are both fully custom: the non-standard motherboard has all the front I/O directly on the board including the power button and PSU is HP custom design with is not ATX nor ATX12VO compatible. Instead, it seems to be always turned on and output 12 V to multiple molex 12 V connectors on the board.
I guess it's possible to use ATX12VO power supply in theory if you do some custom wiring to keep the PSU always powered up. Unlike ATX power supplies that can be turned off by the operating system, this custom PSU seems to be always powered if you have grid power connected to it.

I'm gaining quite respect for HP pre-builds. Sure you can't upgrade them in a way you can with custom build but then again if someone who's not tech savvy wants to game for 500$ they are not exactly thinking about upgrading their PC like someone who built their custom PC would.

question does the Victus use a Standard size ATX power supply unit or is it some weird HP pos sub-standard proprietary size PSU? Because if it standard you could fairly easily upgrade the PSU allowing a faster CPU & GPU combos if they fit.
HP propriety PSU with propriety PCB power socket. You can get some fitable good PSUs and use an adapter but it seems a bit overkill especially on a PCB with more power limitations than a half reasonable custom build PCB.

Great upgrade tutorial, I was surprised the PSU didn't have to be upgraded but was pleasently proved wrong. The intel F chips and the 6600 are both energy efficient.
I agree that the upgrade parts you used were as far as I would go, looking at the GPU temps in some of the gameplay it was getting a bit toasty (see what I did there!). The cooling is one poor aspect of the prebuilt that you can't really do anything about. For this reason any further upgrade would need both a PSU and case upgrade as well, in which case you are upgrading so much you might as well sell the computer and build a new one from scratch.
