Nice build, it shows how cheap and accessible PC gaming can actually be. Sure you are not playing many triple A games on a machine like this but you get to choose from a selection of thousands of retro and indie games spanning almost 30 years, you have several lifetimes worth of games available to choose from.
So true. Through emulation alone up through the sixth generation you have a literal lifetime of games to play. Current games are largely overrated, outside of a few truly amazing gems.
Well done bud! Nice vid and voice over work and the B-roll was good too. Can't help but feel that a used GPU could have given you better value. Like a used RX 560 4gb and also two sticks of 4gb dual channel RAM would also be better than one 8gb stick. Why not make a new vid to compare? I'm Subscribing, keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback. The workstation PC I bought was a SFF Pc which means I could only use low profile graphic cards. I did search for an Rx 560 lp, but where I live it’s very hard to get good low profile cards on the used market. You’re also right with the ram, I don’t know why I didn’t do that. The main reason why I got 1x8 stick instead of 2x4 is so next time I do a video I can get another 8gb stick to make it 16gb. I will make a new video soon around this Pc and definitely will compare benchmarks. Thanks for subscribing. 😄
@@PikeletTech I also live in a place where it's hard to find good used hardware and new components are very expensive. The 1030 perfomed very well in your benchmarks. Good video dude, although that edit when you were showing the system off hurt my eyes. I would've looked for good deals on a used GPU and just had it stick out the side of the case but that's just because I'm all about getting the absolute most for my money, maybe a AMD Radeon Pro 3100 or 4100. But always nice to see people interested in the hobby and make new content on it

Hi everyone👋 I really appreciate the support you guys are showing this video. It took quite a while to make and I’m really relieved that you guys are enjoying it! I’ll make sure to upload more videos around this PC. Have a good day everyone ❤
I did a similar project with a Dell Optiplex 7050 I bought for $70 (Came with Intel Core i7-6700, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AMD R7 450 4GB GPU, and 2 sata cables). While I did have these parts, I upgraded the GPU to a GTX 1050 Ti ($60), added a Gigabit Ethernet PCIe card ($20), and added a 1TB Nvme SSD ($100). If I calculate how much it would cost after all upgrades, it would be about $250 before tax. It may not be as powerful as my custom built PC, but as a secondary PC, it gets the job done. I'm surprised how close the performance is to my current laptop.
If you're gonna use it for long term, I saw spots for a 2.5 inch drive, I would recommend properly screwing it in for easy movement or replacement later. Plus it looks cleaner. I would make sure to double check that the paint didn't plug up the front intake for air. And finally, I would recommend a better card than the 1030. There are plenty of cards like rx 450 that are leagues better for the same price. If you look around though on second hand market places you can probably score a RX 580 for a really good price. Overall, a pretty neat build.
an extra 8gb stick for dual channel would help a ton, Great video! I would recommend next time getting a used kit of 16gb (2x8gb) For around the same price, very common on ebay.
Good try! You can dab those smudges with mineral spirits, maybe do a 16GB DDR4 kit, and even an Arc a310 or RX6400 at some point if you want to play some PS4 level games. There's even a decent selection of i7-6700s out there for relatively cheap. Have fun!
Also i didn’t mention this in the video but unfortunately the power supply in the workstation has only got 180 watts which is why i went for the GT 1030. Would the arc a310 or RX6400 still work? I’m guessing they won’t.
@@PikeletTech Sorry I didn't see the reply before but YES the RX6400 uses only 70 watts or so under load. Not sure about the a310 but I've used the 6400 in a couple similar builds with that PSU. Runs great!

Those are great little systems, I actually have quite the collection! My favorite was the G1 USDT, it was a challenge to upgrade the GPU because it uses the smaller MXM laptop form factor. Ended up being a good little Switch emulator!
