    Great review. My wife and I went from each of us having our own 50 inch 800 to each having a 2015 50 inch 900 trail EPS. We stay with the 50 inch machine so we can ride all the trails here in Pa, as there are many 50 inch only trails.

      II enjoined learning about SxS on my 900 trail. I recently bought a Rzr Pro XP for more power and leg room but it cannot go every where the 900 trail can go.

    Very good assessment of your machine. Couldn't have said it better. I also own a RZR Trail 900 eps. Over all I'm very pleased with it. I have added front and rear bumpers. Roof, and two different poly windshields. (Full and half) only takes 30 seconds to switch. My big and only real complaint is the crappy shocks. And the all day job to remove the front sway bar. I had a 2012 800 that rode better. And with the front sway bar easily unhooked or re-hooked. Unhooked and tied up with a couple wire ties made a huge improvement in off road ride. Really cut down on the A-frame drops over uneven climbs. And felt more stable as well. It did add some body roll on hard pack or roads cornering at speed (20mph+).. My 2016 900eps has lots of power. 14" rims with a 2" offset and 27" tires it helped the ride. And brought the overall width to 55". It still fits down all narrow trails so far. I want to replace the horrid shocks. (I've had five back surgeries). But refuse to pay upwards of $2,400 for four Fox or Walker Evans buggy shocks. There's a Chinese company that makes the brand "Yearben" shocks. The few reviews I've seen are rated five stars. And at only $850 the only supplier in the states can't keep them in stock. I'm on the list to buy a full set as soon as available. $850 is way cheaper than other brands or a new SXS. Which get closer to $20K every year. My nephew has over $30K into his RZR 1000 four seater. That's NUTS!!.. He makes real good money. And I love him anyway.. Lol. I love the 2021 RZR trail-S. But will never buy one at $20,000 American OTD. Plus another couple grand in accessories. I love with my 2016 and new shocks will make even more desirable..

    I agree with everything you say :) I have a 2016 RZR Trail and could not be happier with it because the woods where I ride are very tight and the 50 inch width makes a big difference.

    I had to install garage products a-arm bushings front and rear on my RZR 900 trail within the first 1000km. The o-ring installed on the bushings keeps debris out and grease in, unlike the stock style bushings! Also upgraded to EBC sintered brakes, as they last over twice as long as stock pads in my experience. The only true failure I had so far is the front prop shaft steady bearing. Upgraded to a solid bearing type from super ATV, as well as new ujoints while I was in there and haven't looked back since! 5000km on my machine, and still loving it!

    While I’m a die-hard 60” guy, I truly appreciate your attitude to the smaller SxS’s. I too, love the tight woods trails. With these machines getting wider and wider, and the attitudes of those who have them, there won’t be any real trails left as a result, just dirt roads to accommodate them. Where’s the fun in that?

    • @Headupthrottledown
      @Headupthrottledown  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment! It's all about how you want to use it. I am sure there is areas where there are plenty of places with trails that can accommodate the larger machines, but around here it's mostly groomed for atvs. I guess the philosophical question of the day is how wide is too wide? When does a trail become a glorified dirt highway that happens to go through the forest?

    Debating a 50" vs a 60" machine. Main concerns about the 50" is the stability cornering vs the wider RZR, and 2, the (leg) room inside being near 6 ft tall and having a passenger. Could you please share your thoughts on this? Thanks!

    Excellent analysis. I own a 2020 900 trail. Its the best, in my opinion, for where I live and like to ride. Sometimes I also like desert trails where width doesnt matter. In the desert, I would rather a 900 s but my trail really does well getting thru most places. And as a bonus can go a lot of places a 900 s cant.

    I have a 18 rzr 900 trail eps, I’m on my 3rd season of what I consider to be hard riding as I often find myself trying to keep up with big bore wheelers. First to need repair are my rear control arm bushings. They don’t come with grease fittings but after having them apart I can see how simple it would be to add them. I plan on doing this modification when replacing them moving forward.

    • @Headupthrottledown
      @Headupthrottledown  3 роки тому

      Definetly and thats why I said in the video it's important to have an honest assesment of what type of riding you'll be doing. My buddy has an x3 and I wouldn't even try to keep up with him through the terrian he rides in! But the trail is perfect for the way I ride! Good on you for ripping with the big boys in your 900! You must spend a lot of time throttle all the way down! 😆😆😆

    Can't agree with your review more. We looked at the Can-Am and wrote off the Arctic Cat. Purchased fall of 2019 and now have nearly 3000 miles on it with zero issues. Purchased lower doors, folding windshield, roof and rear window for summer. After purchasing tracks for winter, we purchased upper doors. Only regret was to purchase aluminum top so doors will close more easily and branches won't get caught in top. As for speed, the odometer essentially reads km/hr on tracks vs mi/hr on tires. Also, if you want to upgrade tires and rims from the 12"/26", find a set of 'take offs' from a 1000 turbo. Bought a full set for $600 with no miles that are 14"/29" units. That gives you nearly 2" of extra clearance. Add to that, they have a greater offset. Was a 50" machine on wheels, now a 49.5" machine on wheels due to the offset with more clearance. May say I lucked out, but it makes a huge difference. Love this trail model. Hoping for a turbo crazy horsepower model??? I may be too old though.

    50" in Colorado and out west is a must due to all the 50" trails. The big ones I would have to tow meaning storage monthly rental as a trailer in my garage isn't going to work. Plus I rather not deal with a trail if I don't have too, much easier to reverse a 570 or 900 into the bed of my 2016 F150 6' 5" bed and use tailgate supports from DG and the heavy part of the machine is in the bed and not on the tailgate plus pulling it straight off the truck is easier although reversing on can be a little nerve racking but not overly hard. I'm looking at the RZR Trail 900 Fox Edition mainly so when summer is here I can spend time out with my daughter exploring areas. I was borrowing my brother in-laws 570 but he moved. Which a 570 does a lot too, I took his down some gnarly boulder fields and it does it you can not worry about scraps and stuff, thankfully he doesn't worry about looking good.

    Does this machine fit in the back of your truck easily, I’m considering getting a 2020 RZR 900 FOX Edition, the only problem is that I don’t have a trailer to haul it, we would end up hauling it with our 2016 GMC 2500.

    • @Headupthrottledown
      @Headupthrottledown  4 роки тому +2

      No it doesnt. People do put them in the box of their trucks (you can buy support straps or cages with ramps that sit over the cab) but for me buying a small trailer made the most sense. Trailer it's easy to load, and you are less likely (IMO) to damage your rzr or your vechicle.

    • @tatehalpin5686
      @tatehalpin5686 4 роки тому +1

      If you have a long bed, it'll fit without putting weight on the tailgate. If you have a short bed, you'd likely want some extra support for the tailgate so you don't bend it or snap the straps. Hauled mine in the back of my Dodge until I went to 60" suspension. Stock tires/wheels will fit between the wheel wells.

      We added a bump seat for our first child and we loved going for adventures as a family, and putting the dogs in the back. The wife likes to be a passenger, and this allowed us to talk, eat snacks and really feel like we were together. We eventually added an enclosure and a heater so we could ride all year round! We have sold this unit now, and upgraded to a can am defender max limited (more kids, need more seats) and we truly have made some incredible family memories in our side by side!!!
