One of the main reasons I bought the 2024 Sentra SR Premium last month. It came more equipped than my 2016 Altima SR. The main reason I got the Sentra was because it's very affordable, and it was an upgrade for me. Personally, it's a mini Altima.

I'm getting 42mpg hand calculated with a 24 mile commute each way traveling rural roads and 10 miles of highway each direction. I just bought the Nissan Sentra SR fully loaded with premium package, about two weeks ago...in exactly this color!😊....I love all the bells and whistles included in the premium package, and feel it's more than worth the $29 thousand price. I saw this exact car at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show. And I sat in it. I kinda liked it. It was weight next to a 2024 Nissan Altima SR in a really nice metallic blue, the Altima also had AWD decals on it to advertise its all wheel drive system.

Great review as always. I've always liked the looks of the Altima, and Nissan seems to have captured it perfectly in the Sentra. The fact that they upgraded the CVT with 'fake' shifts is, IMHO, a great feature, one I wish Honda would adopt (yep, Honda fan here), 7.6 seconds is surprising with 149 hp toting just over 3,000 lbs, but yeah, give up the 1.5 ltr 3 cylinder turbo with 200 hp to perhaps drop it into the high 6 seconds(?). Overall, this seems to be a very well put together ca with lots of features and economy for the money.
I have driven most of the competitors in this class and this car is my favorite. Plenty quick enough for real life. If I wanted 400 horsepower I would pony up $50k or more and have a Mustang GT. I don't need that, though.
A pretty obvious no. There hasn't been one in many generations, also Sentra's aren't selling as well as they used to a long time ago, so no way to justify a radically upgraded sport trim.
the SV and S versions [without premium package] ride somewhat quieter and smoother over the bumpy stuff, because they have higher profile rubber and less stiffly tuned suspensions.
Agreed. I have the previous generation SR, unfortunately it has 25 HP less, but it was also like 8K less than this one... and my MPG is better than what this new one has
From someone who has access to both Corolla and Sentra, the Sentra seats are more comfortable compared to Corolla, the only thing Corolla has the advantage over the Sentra is the adaptive cruise control
I replaced my totaled Toyota Corolla with a Sentra SR. IMHO the Corolla had better seats but the Sentra rides better and is roomier. My wife prefers driving my Sentra over her 2020 Camry. My last Nissan was a Sentra Spec-V R with a manual transmission. It was totaled by a drunk neighbor who hit it with a Ram 2500. When he backed up he took out my neighbors old Saturn. Don’t be fooled. The Xtronic CVT is the new badging for their troublesome Jatco CVT transmission. Nissan XTRONIC CVT problems have caused a class action lawsuit that alleges the continuously variable transmissions are defective. The lawsuit alleges the XTRONIC transmissions shake, jerk, have acceleration and deceleration problems, make noise and suffer complete failures.
@@JDMSwervo2001 Are Nissan CVT transmissions good or bad? While the concept of CVTs are good, in practice they were often plagued with issues. This is particularly true for Nissan, which employs CVT gearboxes across its lineup. These transmissions run into countless issues and are so poorly designed that a class action lawsuit was filed against Nissan.
It depends. My wife's 2011 Rogue had it's CVT replaced twice before 50k miles. My old 2014 Accord (4 cyl) ran for 150k miles with no CVT issues. It's probably still going strong. I sold it 6 months ago.
Does this car have a spare tire or a kit? I didn't hear that mentioned in your video. I looked at a Toyota Corolla LE and the inside of the car was very plain, and it was also a little noisy at higher speeds. Honda Civics usually get the best reviews, but they're also more expensive.
I give credit to Nissan for definitely giving us a stylish sedan that is definitely more premium than the previous generations. I’d still take the current Civic because I actually like the interior better and I actually prefer the Civic’s 2.0L engine with 158 HP.
My 2016 Nissan Altima SR with 133,000 miles is still running like new. Never had CVT issues. Keep up with the maintenance, and you'll never have issues.
We have a base model which has the same drive train. It is the most boring underpowered car in the world. That drive train has no right being in a SR trim
@@naveenthemachine In what ways are they not as good as before. I know someone with a 2018 one with close to 250k miles on it and has had zero issues with it. I was talking to him recently, and he told me he would only consider replacing it with another Camry.

Id blindly take this over the corolla all day long. But not over a civic or k4 Elantra or mazda3 which are the best executed vehicles in the class
Stupid . Corolla will outlive this 4 times
Because Toyota ranks the Lowest on your list, and Nissan is probably the second lowest.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 well now Nissan ranks a bit higher you’re right but you can clearly see Nissan is at least trying to execute well.

Some CVT's may be bad at some point like the Rogue and the Pathfinder, the Sentra has a good combination with the carplay and 149 Horsepower. Also the Nissan Titan needs a redesign.
The Nissan Titan is dead. It’s not going forward after this year.

The horrible Nissan cvts were the ones partnered with Renault.
I like that there are options out there without turbo or hybrid. I would rather see production cost go down and easier for the home mechanic to work on.
That looks real good
I am not liking this black roof trend. Toyota is into it, I’ve even seen some Teslas with the pillars blackout. It’s like the return of the vinyl top. Great review as always!
Butter chicken orange
I just bought the Nissan Sentra SR fully loaded with premium package, about two weeks ago...in exactly this color!😊....I love all the bells and whistles included in the premium package, and feel it's more than worth the $29 thousand price. I dont care if it takes over 8 seconds to get to 60mph...in my trade in Kia Soul 2016, I could take a quick nap between 0 to 60mph....😂🙄 (plus the kia fell apart rather quickly 😮) MPG is fantastic so far...🎉
It really looks good. How is the transmission though?
I saw this exact car at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show. And I sat in it. I kinda liked it. It was weight next to a 2024 Nissan Altima SR in a really nice metallic blue, the Altima also had AWD decals on it to advertise its all wheel drive system.
No LED tail lights in 2024 is crazy
What's the big deal?
@@davidjymit feels a little cheap considering the price, along with this the 2018 model of the Sentra even the base, has LED taillights its very ironic considering how they got rid of them for the remodel but it’s very very lazy.
@@davidjym basically every car has them, even cars that cheaper then this have them

Altima and Sentra are beautiful
Toyota is the best
Said nobody ever 😂
Brake torqued acceleration with a CVT is no bueno... going to overheat that CVT unless Nissan has fitted a bigger transmission cooler to the Sentra. 😮 Still prefer the Mazda 3 with a torque converter automatic transmission.... and almost 50 more horsepower
I love my Nissan Sentra. It is affordable and has a sporty look.
I have driven most of the competitors in this class and this car is my favorite. Plenty quick enough for real life. If I wanted 400 horsepower I would pony up $50k or more and have a Mustang GT. I don't need that, though.
I really like the color & I will buy this car soon.
Great review!
Will there be a
SER SpecV trim?
A pretty obvious no. There hasn't been one in many generations, also Sentra's aren't selling as well as they used to a long time ago, so no way to justify a radically upgraded sport trim.
Best color option on sentra, orange/black !!
For context, the 1981 Datsun 280ZX Turbo did 0-60 in 7.1 seconds.
What does that have to do with anything? And a z does it in 4.0 seconds now.
how much HP did that 280ZX have ?

Sentra SE-R with VC turbo engine? Boys would like that 😏
They can do the SE-R with the 1.5L 3 cyl 201hp/225trq that the rogue has. There is your SI competitor.
That engine is bad blowing up they have a class action lawsuit
Idk what i dislike more , the color or the rims
the SV and S versions [without premium package] ride somewhat quieter and smoother over the bumpy stuff, because they have higher profile rubber and less stiffly tuned suspensions.
Nissan if your reading this bring back the SE-R SPEC V!!!! plz!
Needs way more power for that price. If they put the Rogue's turbo engine into this, it would be a lot more interesting.
Agreed. I have the previous generation SR, unfortunately it has 25 HP less, but it was also like 8K less than this one... and my MPG is better than what this new one has
If they would get rid of the cvt they would probably sale a lot more maybe put a dual clutch like Kia and Hyundai
The Mazda 3 is definitely the best in the class but this is a good option over a Corolla for sure.
The police were not as impressed as he was.
Nissan CVT = Hell NO. Mission give us a transmission that last 20 years and I will say hell yes!
We are just few years away from Mazda/Subaru/VW discontinuing their 3/Impreza/Jetta.

@@waytoolegit99Toyota and Honda cvt’s are made by jatco as well
Don’t be fooled.
Does this apply to Nissans Sentra/Altima/Rogue made after 2020?
@@JDMSwervo2001
Are Nissan CVT transmissions good or bad?
While the concept of CVTs are good, in practice they were often plagued with issues. This is particularly true for Nissan, which employs CVT gearboxes across its lineup. These transmissions run into countless issues and are so poorly designed that a class action lawsuit was filed against Nissan.
It depends. My wife's 2011 Rogue had it's CVT replaced twice before 50k miles. My old 2014 Accord (4 cyl) ran for 150k miles with no CVT issues. It's probably still going strong. I sold it 6 months ago.
If you knew what you're talking about you'd know these new CVT are not like the old ones
You're obviously talking about 2013-2019.
Needs 200HP, Manuel, All Wheel Drive, and a 10-12inch screen, bigger sun roof, full digital display, would be a good car to buy..
Does this car have a spare tire or a kit? I didn't hear that mentioned in your video. I looked at a Toyota Corolla LE and the inside of the car was very plain, and it was also a little noisy at higher speeds. Honda Civics usually get the best reviews, but they're also more expensive.
was the Corolla LE fun to drive? or at least easy to drive?
Of course it has a spare. Why wouldn't it?
I've seen other reviews of this sentra, and it has a spare tire.
Would it go faster with he smaller rim option?
It should come with a Uber sticker from the factory
SR make sportinest , whe need this car turbo and manual!!!! No more CVT NISSAN YOU KILLING THE MARCK💨🪨
It’s a nice car but why do they cheap out so much with the lights?
Would this be good for a 16 years old?
I would buy one over a Kia or Hyundai. It looks real nice, if you want a commuter car with a little style it looks nice.
It needs the maxima engine
That car here, Puerto Rico, is around $35K!! Holy!!😮😮.
If it’s not the best at anything then they have to beat the competition on price
It does and there are discounts
I give credit to Nissan for definitely giving us a stylish sedan that is definitely more premium than the previous generations. I’d still take the current Civic because I actually like the interior better and I actually prefer the Civic’s 2.0L engine with 158 HP.
Sentra 2.0 is faster than the Civic lol
20 years of junk transmissions has ruined Nissan's reputation. I'm surprised that they are still in business.
I had no problems with my so cap 167k miles 2009 Altima still running
My 2016 Nissan Altima SR with 133,000 miles is still running like new. Never had CVT issues. Keep up with the maintenance, and you'll never have issues.
Don’t think these guys read about the lawsuit and settlements . Nissan knew the CVT’s sold were prone to premature failures.

Would you you guys pick the 2024 SE Camry or this?
Nope
Arr you allowed to own one of these if your credit score is above 600?
Prolly not.
650 and up is usually what you need.
Yes
Hmm this or a Jetta GLI with a non CVT lol. Hell I’d rather have the outgoing Forte GT then this.
Needs the 1.5T from the Rogue as an optional engine for an SE-R version.
I'd trade that Bose speaker system for a power folding side mirror.
We have a base model which has the same drive train. It is the most boring underpowered car in the world. That drive train has no right being in a SR trim

All manufactures of sedans need to think Sportback. The rear deck lid needs to henge at the top of the rear glass. In this segment compete with the Buick Envista and Chevy Trax.
My neighbor and brother in law had their Nissan’s CVT quite at 100k miles. Nissan has to fix their CVTs
Nissan has. Anything built in that 2020’s should have the improved CVT.
