It's an economy car, not a German sports sedan. Not everyone can afford G Wagons. No need to be condescending and effete about the type of vehicle the 90%ers 'might' be able to afford. Personally, I would rather have the Sentra than a Corolla...

while that is true, here is the problem with this car.
the Nissan Sentra is an economy car, the Nissan SR is a compact sports performance car.
now you might say times have changed,
ah has Honda ever stopped making the Civic Si, the answer is no.
if you just wanted a basic commuter car, that's what you bought a regular Civic for. but a person who's looking to buy the Civic Si, isn't looking to save gas,
      they want a sporty car.
Nissan used to offer two versions of the Sentra, you had the regular gas version, but there were two sports performance trims.
there was a 6 speed manual option that put out close to 180hp,
but you also had a 5 speed automatic version that put out around 160.
but both were sporty options that required premium fuel.
so you might say what's the issue with this.
it's the trim name, if you say this is a Nissan SR,
it better not have a cvt. there also needs to be a manual transmission option,
instead what you get with this, is just a basic car with the words SR painted on it.
they said it only cost $23k, that probably explains the price.
you can get a Toyota Camry LE that cost more than this,
and that's about as basic as you can get for a Camry.

@@devildog5354- have you driven the recent Subaru CVT? Especially in the Crosstrek with the bigger motor? You will be surprised!. It doesn’t hold max RPM like this Sentra does. Foot to the floor acceleration, even out of sport mode the transmission has shift points. It can take that because it’s solely built by Subaru. The shifting does maximize the torque of the motor vs redlining. It sounds decent. It also has a sport mode that makes a difference. The Wilderness models get the transmission out of the Outback if I remember right and are enabled for towing up to 3500 lbs. the Outback can only tow 2700 lbs with the same transmission.
Not all CVTs are the same. I used to say they all were absolutely crap!! I was extremely biased, especially with towing! I learned that there are the Subaru CVTs that have come a long way and I believe lead the pack right now. We have one because my wife wanted to downsize, but hated the CorollaCross, just didn’t like anything except the Subaru Crosstrek. She loves it! Went from a Grand Cherokee 4xe to a Crosstrek Limited (in Canada) and she is happy!! I really don’t mind driving it even. It’s no one of my 4x4 trucks, but it’s not meant to be.

I have a 2020 Corolla with the CVT and I’m more used to that now than all of our other vehicles with 6-9 speed transmission’s. I love the gas mileage as I live on the west coast now and that’s expensive. I’ve had 4 vehicles with cvts now and I’ve had 0 issues. Of course all of them were Toyota built CVTs so they haven’t been problematic for us. And they actually have a launch gear that works quite flawlessly in my opinion and helps take the stress off of the initial launch of the car.

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck Місяць тому

@@LishDetails93 - Toyota don’t build their CVTs. Aisin does. The same company that builds CVTs for almost all the other automakers, including Nissan & Jeep(when they used them). Aisin is getting better, but has not been problem free for Toyota. Problem free for you. For every broken unit there are 60 to as high as 98 other units that have not broken. 60% rate of survival would be abysmal, but then so is anything less than 95%.
It often sounds like all the units are failing, or all the vehicles have the same problem, but it depends on the end use, most Corollas Judson drive & they don’t tow anything, but once you get into SUVs, that’s not the case. Towing builds heat fast in a CVT, and that’s the main problem.

The interior of this Sentra is better than both Corolla and Civic. Its only rival would be the Elantra and Forte. This car looks awesome both inside andand outside out, very practical as well for a basic commuter car. Roman is very negative expecting so much more for less. The car has everything someone needs for the price. When you add turbo, heated rear seats, AWD, bigger wheels/tires, fog lights, extra usb outlets for the back seats, led tail lights, bigger spoiler etc you enter full size luxury sedan prices of $41k and above.

Audi a3. Easy. Least expensive but most reliable audi. So you have the least to lose off depriciation. Dont buy the other audis unless its an suv because they dont try to go like r8 on them they become so expensive and unreliable. But the suvs cost a lot youll lose more in depriciation so i say audi a3. 35k starting you got it for 40, drive it 10 years sell it for 19,999.98 and you lose 2k a year in depriciation. On the contrary, you buy a new camry for 30k+ as well now, if you get it for 30, you drive it for ten years sell it for 14,999.98 and you lost 15k in depriciation. So you upgrade to the a3 and you only lose a little more in depriciation comparatively since theyre closer to similar prices compared to like an f150 f250. But for that slight extra loss over ten years you have better tech by a lot. Clesrly higher quality but also advancment whuch does effect reliability but i mean toyota is highly advanced now too theyre not all that more reliable anymore. Its not as bad as I thought it would be witu the audi a3 but i wouldnt buy an r8 unless i hit the lottery and didnt care anymore. The a3 is audis least expensive most reliable vehicle. I say its better than a camry except it cost some more and you might want a budget for maintinance if you plan on owning it over 10 years. Or at least thats what i say. A brand new 99 corolla will be more reliable sure but it doesnt have as good of tech cost considerably less because of it. Plus they dont even make em now and the new corollas arent even close to the same quakity as the old ones and also more advanced and junk now. With their cvts Audi a3 makes toyota tech look so old. A3 probably not as reliable as the new camry because its a 2.5 L Na hybrid but the a3 is also a 4 cylinder but its more like a honda with the turbo and also a semi hybrid so i mean toyota sells trucks with plastic beds dude what even kind of reliability is that?!?! Honda sells civic with plastic holding the top of the engine together its sprining leaks at 3000 miles. Honda reliability is gone too. The audi a3 isnt that much less unreliable if youre owning it for 10 years for example. You can say its unreliable low quality but the "ultra reliable civic" has a launchgear cvt and the top of the engine is held together by plastic. The audi a3 is a 7 speed sooooooooo its better. But you pay up compared to corolla. its from germany with the autobahn its electronically limited to 150mph you could go faster with a little adjusting with the laptop but it isnt good idea i say you want it stock so its as reliable as it can be. It weighs a good amount not too heavy or light but just right. The doors are very big and strong like toyotas USED to be. I am still not trusting of higher end audi reliability because the more you spend with audi the more advanced they go the more power they try to suck out and less reliable they get. The a3 however is audis most real world car its the one they want to sell to people upgrading from camrys and accords they need it to be more reliable eventhough its level of advancment is questionable, its actually comparable to these "reliable" vehicles toyota honda and ford is putting out and even arguably better in quality. Theyre doing v6 twin turbo hybrid tundra and v6 twin turbo ranger. 1 turbo more reliable than 2. Soooo... Toyota isnt out of the ring with that either. Theyre not reliable like they were. their 2.5L camry hybrid has 8 injectors on 4 cylinders so i mean reliability is a facade at that point anyway so its not really all that different tbh. A3 isnt built in usa. Theyre built in germany and sent over on a boat. Thats better than a ford made in mexico is it not? A corolla made in japan isnt as good or reliable as an a3 made in germany admit it dude!!! Launchgear cvt vs 7 speed. Pay up sucka its worth it. A3 so good. Audu 7 speed will be more reliable than ford and toyotas 8 and 10 speeds and more reliable than honda and toyotas launchgear cvt. Am i wrong? Am I wrong?

@@user-do9ir8lv2mno theyre not. I mean there is reliable aspects but nissan is like japans budget toyota and honda redheaded stepchild that gets the abuse of all their failed tech like the jatco cvt. My sister owns an altima and I mean nissan is good about bang for buck but its because they cut corners. You get no launcgeae cvt or 8 speed like a camry. You gey a camry sized altima with a worse transmission than a toyota corolla... 😐 but i mean in this age of antifreedom electric cars my sibling makes enough money if the transmission blows she just pays for another jatco cvt and its not as big of a deal. So its all perspective. Nissan wont clean up their castings as well and stuff like that. Their body panel fitment probably even worse than tesla in some areas. But i mean they will sell you an accord camry class altima you get it for less in comparison but with more features. I perfer camrys and audi a3 now because corollas used to be like camrys but now theyre junk with cvts and the camry you get the 2.5 NA but with audi a3 you go back to a good quality 7 speed. But i mean you pay up. A camry isnt cheap anymore and an audi a3 is step up from that too. Not as cheap as a sentra

I have a 2017 Nissan Sentra with over 125,000 miles on it and bought it new with 27 miles. I've had no issue with CVT and its been overall solid. I just think that I would much rather have a Sentra over a Honda but maybe consider a Corolla or Camry. I just think they did really improve the CVT in 2017 so its good to see that they got better as the years went on. I would not buy a new one but I could consider a used one as long as the cvt has been serviced. As far as Roman being extremely negative is sad. There are people who cannot afford a Mercedes G wagon and a truck. Just over realistic for the average consumer who does not have that kind of cash to afford a oversized gas guzzler.

I’m team Nathan on this one. While I respect opinion, I also respect good journalism and professionalism. Nathan was doing a great job pointing out some of the features and design elements of the Sentra. Roman made it awkward by disagreeing with everything Nathan was saying and then deflecting anything positive into an irrelevant point. Im not trying to hate on Roman as I’ve been watching their videos since they started on UA-cam, and have always loved watching them. But this seemed more of a matter of a biased opinion rather than a fair presentation on a rather good looking vehicle with good features. Nate broke up his review with things he liked and things he thought could use some thought. Also if you have become one of the many that are obsessed with trucks and SUVs and ONLY trucks and SUVs then please stick to that. There are still people out here that appreciate small and practical FWD commuters for what they have done for decades. If you are a decent driver you can easily get by with good snow tires and FWD. you said it yourself when you drove the F-150 and the Subaru Outback with Tommy that you guys felt more control in the Subaru with good snow tires than even the F-150. And I myself am not ready to purchase and maintain a truck. I didn’t need a truck when I lived in Colorado and I sure as hell don’t need one in Oregon. I was there all winter and my Corolla got me everywhere I needed to go. I drove it from Bottineau ND down to Denver CO, back up to Bottineau, then back down to Denver by myself again no problem in February in my FWD Corolla SE. you don’t NEED a truck or SUV with AWD, you want one. And I get it, but please, this is a car that most people could get by with for daily transport around town, to and from work, to school and back again. It will do that very well, and if you drive well and have good tires you’ll be just fine!
