This is my all time favourite Polish songs. Can you imagine how strong his voice must have been to sound like that in times when they did not have that sound enhancing technique like we have now and no autotuning, too? Artists must have been way more talented and hard working than they are now (there are few exceptions, like Dimash, but that's different story). That's why I like old music and I stuck to Dimash so much, he reminds me of those times. I would like to suggest Czesław singing in Russian. Czesław Niemen - Kalakolczik (Little Bell) ua-cam.com/video/9w5HmUJfgZA/v-deo.html Video is bad, but it was recorded long time ago. Sound is ok, though.
We have to take into account that Niemen and other Polish artists those times (during iron curtain) were up to date to "western Europe" or some US music (blues, rock, jazz), similarly Hungary due to some bloody risings against communism in 1956 (Poland & Hungary) and later in 1970 (Poland again). In other soviet countries this music was banned, although commies in Poland also didnt' like it but we fought some space of freedom.
Exuse me!- You did Niemen spacial and I didn't know about this? I'm happy, because I was hopin you did Niemen spacial. I must watch. I also hope that you will do another Niemen spacial anytime soon- maybe his english songs from his American album (they're amazing). On the album there's Mourner's Rapsod- for polish Bema pamieci rapsod załobny- I wonder what you wouls say to this. Plus- I've learnt from the other ytbr that Niemen's song Jednego serca- cannot be posted here on yt (the original)- too bad. Thank you.
THE LYRICS ARE AMAZING AND POWERFUL. WRITTEN IN COLD WAR TIMES (1967) STILL IN ITS VALUE AND MESSAGE. YOU CAN READ IT BELOW (THE MUSIC, THE LYRICS AND PERFORMANCE IN ONE PERSON - CZESLAW NIEMEN): This is a strange world Where still So much evil exists. And this is also strange That for so many years, A man despises another man. This t is a strange world - The world of human affairs. Sometimes admitting this is shameful staff. And yet it often happens That someone with a bad word Kills as with a knife. But there are more people of good will, And I strongly believe in it That this world Will never perish thanks to them. No! No! No! No! The time has come, The highest time, To destroy the hatred within oneself. [: SOLO GUITAR PLAYING :] But there are more people of good will, And I strongly believe in it That this world Will never perish thanks to them. No! No! No! No! The time has come, The highest time, To destroy the hatred within oneself.
PS. I'd like you to recommend also this song PL: "Bema pamięci rapsod żołosny", EN: "Funeral rhapsody in memory of Bem" (1970) ua-cam.com/video/FFNxAfy6dbY/v-deo.html You told about church organs, yes Niemen played also on argans (I don't know what type, Hammond?), so you can see him playing organs BTW Polish general Bem fought among others during Hungary uprising - Wikipedia; " In the Hungarian uprising on December 13, 1848, he received from the Hungarian government the command of the Hungarian troops in Transylvania and Banat, where he led hostilities. Soon, the fighting also spread to Bukovina and Wallachia, located in several current countries: Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and Romania. Through the winter campaign (December 1848 - March 1849) Bem earned the reputation of a great leader." Poland and Hungary for many centuries are closely & friendly related countries, we eg. shared common kings, queens, battles etc.
