Statistics show that people won’t seek help until they hit rock bottom, and California government spends billions to make sure they never quite reach rock bottom. It all makes perfect sense.

Bravo, Grants Pass!! Yes...homelessness won't be going away, but those who have businesses wherein homeless lie in their doorways and piss on their windows leaving a foul odor for customers, will be glad for some relief form the government for a change. I agree with the comment below. Let areas away from city limits be designated for homeless with water and sewer provided. Outhouses are fine. If they burn down their area, they burn down their area. They will need to rebuild themselves. Provide one spigot and charge people per unit of water so that flagrant waste doesn't occur such as leaving the spigot running. Once the water is turned off by a subscriber, the water is locked off. These amenities will require budget allocations, but the issue must be balanced. With rents as high as they are and people with less money, what are homeless to do? Just keep them away from city limits.
OK lets see the legislation which entirely prohibits corporate landlords from keeping empty units to claim as tax write offs while developing artificial scarcity. Its cowardly to pick on people who have nothing.
Idk how people aren’t getting the picture of what’s really to come from this nothing but progress in my opinion. Homeless? Okay shelters here here and here go now or get arrested. No!? Why because you want to get high and do nothing all day and the shelter doesn’t allow it okay jail it is. Mental health crisis okay they have places for them too. Many of them don’t want help and feel entitled that no one is forcing them to get better

If one is homeless, one has no place or money to be spending on cigarettes or pets. Too many homeless avoid shelters because they have pets, which shelters don't allow. This shows, as evidenced by countless studies, that the vast majority of homeless are so and remain so because of poor choices. Yes, we as a society have some duty to veterans who are homeless, but that's about it.

Public spaces are just that, public spaces. When your encampment litters and leaves dangerous and sharp objects all around you are harming others. The biggest reason why people want public camping banned is because of the amount of trash and human waste surrounding the tents. It's not about prosecuting the homeless its about the dangers they impose on others who are simply walking/running or driving. I'd be in favor of designating small plots of land (with basic facilities) to set up your tents/vehicles and removing all other tents and abandoned vehicles from public property.

Maybe if I look into a window of a home and I see somebody that maybe looks homeless even though in their home I should be able to call the police too... Why should there be freedoms we should just be safe no freedoms in our new police state

Homelessness is not against the law. Pitching tents and camping in areas where it such acts are forbidden is against the law, whether the person is homeless or not. Get a clue.

I believe we should have a special police force that we can call to verify people who are walking down the street or out in public or actual non homeless.. maybe we can walk around with armbands that say we're not homeless or have security tags that say we're not homeless in this new police state we're in..m burrito supreme court

What happens if I go get my brother's tent on my bike down the street and get caught by the police in between.... That's okay.... Having no rights is okay... The solution is SIMPLE. Go to a shelter or go to Jail. Taking a poop on the streets, doing drugs on the sidewalk and making it hard for kids to go to the park should never be an option.

They need to put in place better laws against L@ndlords making sure they provide habitable living spaces instead of being able to raise the r£nt, provide real affordable housing, THE CITY MUST SHOW WHAT POSITIVE CONDUCTIVE preventiv£ measures are THEY putting in place to stop the large number of homelessness?*** Instead of putting the mon£y in their own pocket$😕🤔👆 notice how homelessness percentages grew when COVID-19 pandemic started. And the c0urt$ are set up to work within the l@ndlords favor🫣🫣🫣
