  • Today, we’re joined again by detransitioner Laura Perry Smalts, author of Transgender to Transformed: A Story of Transition That Will Truly Set You Free, to continue her testimony of believing she was a man to embracing her womanhood under Christ. Laura shares the timeline of her hormone "treatments," double mastectomy and hysterectomy, and the moment she realized that these surgeries and treatments wouldn't actually make her a man. We discuss the common claim made by "trans" people that they are truly happier after transitioning, and the truth that it's often a lie to keep up appearances and convince themselves of a lie. Laura shares her heartbreak of realizing she had lost the opportunity to have children, and how God ultimately reached her at her lowest. We talk about the dignity in biblical womanhood and God's love for women, and how these truths led Laura to accept who God made her to be. We also share some advice on how to approach loved ones who think they're trans.

Amen(it is done)! Remember what Jesus said in Luke 18: 1-8. Keep praying because we know as mentioned in Ephesians 6:12-20, it is not just what we see in the physical but actions happen first in the spiritual and the results are made manifest in the physical/flesh. God is good! I prayed for your child may God do a wonderful speedy work! Don’t become discouraged the devil will make you believe that God is not listening to you but he is the God who sees as we know from Genesis 16:13! God’s timing is perfect. There has been times when God has come through in my life in the very last hour! Remember to tell Satan 1 John 4:4! Lastly, remember Jesus overcame Satan using the word. The word(the Bible - Jesus made manifest) is the sword in the spiritual realm! We don’t use really weapons or fight with our words, as Hebrews 4:12 but we take it to the heavenly courts, Hebrews 4:16! Pray, stay in God’s word morning, break times, night! It doesn’t have to be long you could read a verse but apply it in prayer! We remind God of his word and because he is true and just he will acknowledge what we recite to him from the word that he has graciously blessed us with! God is good! Satan wants these kids so badly and some people are letting there kids be turned over but you are a great mom! God bless you and your household, Joshua 24:15. I was once an atheist and lived a homosexual lifestyle that included plenty of raving and hard drugs from the ages of 15-22. BUT, I have a praying mom and she always loved me but never accepted my sin. She never compromised Jesus or the word of God and she battled for years in the courts of heaven praying and interceding for me! However, God told her you are trying to fight alone. Surrender this problem to me 100% and it will be done. My mom fought for nearly a decade, but once she surrendered my life to God, within 2 months of her obeying God, I was saved(she fought for nearly a decade). One day I was deeply suicidal and for some reason I called out to God and he literally surround me with his peace! I have been made new! It’s been a process but I draw closer to him daily! A big part of my daily walk includes reading my Bible day and night and ALWAYS praying even at work! It’s not easy but if we try he will meet us! God was merciful! I almost died of an overdose in Las Vegas I tried to kill myself a handful of times but he never let me die. I am grateful because I knew in my heart that if I did I would have been in the pits of hell. God is good don’t give up! Your child is not up for grabs! Satan can’t prevail because our God is greater and if two agree or more agree he is the midst, Matthew 18:20! I am in agreement with you mama! God bless you! Jeremiah 33:3-5, God is always near we serve the true living God and thank you Jesus he enables use to personally interact with our Heavenly Father so that we can depend on him always! Our God is dependable even when our path may seem dark he is still ahead of us making a way! He is the way-maker, Isaiah 43: 15-16! Amen(it is done) we thank you in the MIGHTY name of Jesus! We believe, your will be done!

Thanks for this! I did not go through physical transition because it was not even a thing in the 80's, so I thought I would HAVE to be a girl- though I hated it for so long and was so uncomfortable, as she spoke of, not knowing how to be a girl, much less a woman! I also was close to my Dad, and very angry at my mom. But again, through the transforming love of Jesus, I not only married a man, but had two girls- who are quite feminine (despite my insecurities in that area) and am now, SOOO HAPPY and daily embrace being a woman! Jesus is real! He changes hearts and minds. He will start tenderly with us with whatever limitations we have, but doesn't leave us there!

I love this woman’s story. I have three kids. My 24-year-old daughter is “non-binary”, my 25-year-old son is very intolerant of this whole movement/thing, and a 21-year-old daughter that is very supportive of her “sibling” that identifies as non-binary.
I refuse to go along with the lie and won’t call my daughter by her preferred name or her preferred pronouns. I refuse to lie to her which is what I would be doing by going along with all of this. It’s one of the hardest things that I have ever had to go through as a parent. I’m praying to God that she will just grow out of this whole thing and realize who she really is and accept that. This woman’s story is so encouraging! I love my 24-year-old daughter more than anything, but I cannot support this lie.

Hey there - I am a couple years older than your daughter and when I was that age and younger I also thought I was non-binary and grew out of it. many women do. for what it’s worth, I think you’re doing the right thing by not affirming it as that will only drive her deeper into the ideology and she will become addicted to the validation of it. I’m not religious but realized this movement preys on mentally unwell young people and that’s why I stopped supporting it.

My youngest daughter has a son who believes he is female. She and her husband have shut me out of their lives because I am a vocal Christian. I am not allowed to be in that child’s life. He has just turned 18 and will presumably fully transition soon. The saddest part is their Christian testimony. They are now Episcopalians, and my daughter has recently been ordained as a deacon and preaches regularly in area churches in her part of NY. I fear for this family’s future. I have been counseled by family and Christian friends not to say anything negative in order to stay in her life. Since I live in Texas, I am never around her, not even on the telephone, just texting and exchanging pictures. Her fanaticism for the trans cause is very radical. Please pray for them. I’m at a loss as to how to be connected to those I love, but also remain a voice of godly wisdom.

I grew up same time frame too and there's so much confusion then and now. I know myself and others relate on so many levels to this as women and has nothing to do with being Trans but can relate and to me its same thing just a different drug a different version of the same defilement and bitterness we all find ourselves in when we are buried in sin and cover it with the world instead of the blood of Jesus

I don't understand how the doctor who did her surgery is any different from any doctor who does mastectomies? Sounds like the doctors skill was no better than any doctor who does mastectomies. Doesn't make sense to me. If it doesn't make sense it makes money. Thank you Laura for talking about this. Many trans people always want to downplay this part. Your comment about sexual sin is such a complete statement. Beautiful testimony...just beautiful.

I am adopted, which naturally leaves a hole in your identity and is a rejection that leaves you searching for acceptance and belonging. All the men in my life eventually failed me… my dad, my pastor, my husband, etc. I became very sexually promiscuous looking for male affirmation. My identity was tied into these relationships. It was not until I took all the men off the pedestal and put Jesus Christ alone on the pedestal, and understood who my identity in Christ is, that everything fell into place. I believe for many gender and sexually confused, finding their identity in Christ instead of in their gender or sexual orientation is the only true path to healing.

I had anorexia and there's a lot of self deception involved in that illness, because you know you don't need to lose weight, but in a way the only way things are okay is if you have to lose weight.
So when the thought comes into your head that you could stop the weight loss at this point, you have to push that thought away and reinforce to yourself that you just have to lose more weight and that if you get complacent you'll gain all the weight back.
After therapy, I would always have to push away the "lies" my therapist and dietician told me and reassert the "truth" that my anorexia told me.
My therapist and dietitian got through (a little bit) the end though. You just can't keep pushing truth away when it keeps getting in your face. I was delusional to a point so some of what they said wasn't going to get through until I got a lot better, I had done such a good job with lying to myself and it's the nature of the illness to be at least a little bit genuinely delusional. But what I wasn't deluded about I couldn't keep not acknowledging.
I also abandoned my faith to a point. I didn't stop believing, but I couldn't keep knowingly harming myself and refuse to change that, and engage with God.

It was hard but I left a mental health job after 3.5 years bc I was told if I would not affirm I was being unloving and called a bigot. I wanted to stay to be a light amongst my youth clients and unbelieving staff. I couldn’t push transgender healthcare practices. I wanted to be a living gospel like you shared. I some times regret leaving but love owning my time and not having compromise my beliefs in gender and marriage

Wow we don’t hear enough of these stories EVER! I was a lesbian since teen ages and just like she said, through Jesus and living a life God would want me to have slowly made me have forgiveness in my heart for those I kept such a hatred against. It was mainly men and then my mom and then also Muslims (bcuz I grew up in a muslim country) and slowly becoming a Christian, God made me confront my hatred which was NOT an easy process. Takes a lot of humbling, letting go of the ego really. And Christ made me even gain a perspective and understand those that choose a to be muslims, although praying one day they will find the truth. So it wasn’t even just “men”. It transformed my life in LOTS of ways. Jesus TRULY changes names. I did not understand much at all in the beginning, slowly He showed me why so I don’t just blindly follow people. Thank you GOD, without you, I am just ash.

our gender is created and selected for each of us by God. specifically for us. and when we learn our identity in Christ it transforms us completely.
there is never a more whole feeling than when we learn who we are in Christ and what all He has done for us. the Epistles describe the work He’s done for us and still doing.

A quote, "If you don't affirm this and celebrate this and allow this you are causing someone to kill themselves." , I call BS on those statements full on as a suicide survivor who just celebrated her 15 yr survival anniversary. I can attest whole heartedly and in total truth as an abused woman and as a woman rejected by her family that my suicide attempt was fully, totally, completely, solidly and 100% no one's fault but my own doing and on my own record and all accountable unot me a no one else, not even my abuser nor those who rejected me. ME!
Everyone who commits' suicide is solely responsible no matter the reasons for doing it. The desperate need to escape due to pain of heart, body or soul is something no one can cause to grow to the point of suicide though others can cause the pain to grow, no one can cause the need to escape to grow but the person permitting the inner pondering of it., SELF.
Escape is never the way out of problems, we must journey through them.
Suicide is a decision no one makes for you, therefore no one but you are responsible should it occur, so, if a gender confused person dies by their own hand it is ONLY their own hand that caused their deaths.
People so severely misunderstand suicide facts, the inner deepest facts and no one wants to talk about it. Most all people want to make it "a better place" the dead have gone to with zero knowledge of it to even say and then those who hear the less severe comments when one commits' suicide they do not take it as the danger to the soul that it really is and they believe it to okay and later consider suicide as well. We need to start being honest about it. Satan LOVES how we talk about suicide in these ways, and we better stop.
