For those of you who don't have the seamless connection like this guy did, make sure you give Rain Bird location access (in settings) before you start the app. Otherwise, you'll be curled up in a fetal position, crying, for a few hours.
I was really hoping you would tell us if we can use it to "test stations" and move up stations one at the time. We do this once every single year and it gets tiring walking back and forth from the valve-solenoid box to the Controller. So..can we use it for this type of trouble-shooting purpose?
I install a lot of this controllers looks like recently I am having problems connecting the WiFi module with the home WiFi . I bet the WiFi signal strength has a lot to do with this !!
I installed the same WIFI module at my mother's house yesterday and I was able to connect to the control module from anywhere on her property and made changes to the settings while on her WIFI network. I was real excited. The biggest reason for having the WIFI unit was so I can control her control module from anywhere so she does not have to go down a flight of stairs to make any program changes. I am not able to control her control module from my house. Can this be achieved?
As long as the controller has a WiFi signal and you have data or WiFi where you are located you should be able to control the sprinkler timer from anywhere. You can use it like a remote control or make program adjustments.
I JUST INSTALLED A ESP ME RAIN BIRD CONTROLLER. I CAN ACCESS BY THE APP AS LONG AS I AM CLOSE ENOUGH TO STAY ON MY WI-FI INTERNET. WHEN I LOOSE WI-FI , I LOOSE ABILITY TO CONTROL THRU THE APP. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?? THANKS RONNIE
Hello. I need help. When im connected on my wifi, i then click to rainbird to conect and then say me connected whitout internet and cant complete installation. Some help?
Everything works great as long as I leave it on the Rainbird WiFi, which is unsecured. However, everything else in my house is under the network I established separately. In other words nothing else works unless I change all the devices to the unsecured Rainbird network. How do I get Rainbird to work with my original network?
Yes, if you are looking for a system as a contractor look at the Hydrawise ProHC. You can set it up on your app and give your client access and they create their own username and password.
What’s with the horrible reviews I’ve seen stating exhausting attempts to make it stay connected to the WiFi or just trying to connect it to the WiFi? These don’t seem to be isolated incidents either.
The price of a Rainbird wifi module is so expensive, I decide to go with other solution to remote control my home water tap instead of dealing with the sprinkler system to meter out water consumption amount while I am away.
Try reaching out to Rain Bird tech support. In my experience they have been more than helpful. Be ready with your model and serial numbers. Call 1-800-RAINBIRD (1-800-724-6247) Monday through Friday from 5 AM to 5 PM Pacific Time.
Any chance you could slow down the video so it’s easier to follow? I changed my password because of a hacker and now I can’t enter a new password. Followed the directions but to no avail
Too bad you didn't cover the most common problem when trying to link your phone to the rain bird hot spot when the "internet may not be available" even though your wifi signal is 4 out of 5 bars.
That has not been my experience. I have installed several of these units for clients without an issue. Perhaps it is a setting issue. Best of luck in finding a resolution.
@@ThriftyGarage hi mate how are u? can i stay connected from another wifi net and the app will work? for example ccan i set up to start tomorrow at 10pm if im on holidays or out of my home wifi network?
We prefer the Hunter ProHC for our landscape clients. But Rain Bird still makes a good controller. When we don’t have WiFi we usually install the ESP-Me3.

Agreed! I recommend at least 3 of 5 Wi-Fi bars but would prefer to see 4 or 5.
Thank God for this comment. Was ready to break something
U da real MVP! I actually was about to cry before I read your comment!
Thanks ! Setup done after switching on the location
was hoping to understand how to use the app. especially to turn on a single zone so could adjust a sprinkler, they need to be on to adjust them.

Watch the TM2 Programing video. Skip to the 5:09 mark for where it shows how to manually test stations.

Yes, I’ve found the WiFi units don’t work well unless you have at least two bars of WiFi signal.

Hey ya didn’t say what selection the rain bird need to be on to use app - Manuel? Auto?
Controller should be left in Auto if you want to enable watering.
I believe you need 2,4GHz not 5 GHz to install wifi controller. Did you do that?
I keep getting an error msg when I try to connect with the rain bird wifi connection, I have a lnk 2 wifi with a esp-tm2 controller, does that matter?
same,

Sounds like it's an issue with your phone. Are you enabling the Rain Bird app to use data?
Do we Keep the RainBird LNK WIFİ Module in the controller after installing and all done?
Yes
Hi, could we use a different wifi dongle or not? Thanks
I think the LNK WiFi module is the only one that will work.
@@ThriftyGarage OK Thanks

How good is your Wi-Fi connection?
Its a 200mb. And its so good. My router is close 10cm from timer.. how i can fix it?
Go to settings, permissions, locations and then find Rain Bird. Give it permission, and you're set. It took me four hours and a nap to figure out.
2:11 this step does not work for me it says unknown error i have restarted the phone tried a bunch of shit this garbage dont work
You called it right. This product is garbage.

The Rain Bird WiFi should be for establishing a network connection only and not required after initial setup.
Why doesn’t rain bird give a “hardwire” option instead of wifi?!?
You can still buy non-Wi-Fi controllers.
How do add a user? I have it in my phone but I want my husband to use it also but on his phone So how do you do that? Add a user?
I’m not sure if you can with the Rain Bird app.
@@ThriftyGarage I wonder if you could just add the app on a second phone!?
I wonder how secure this is? My confidence isn't too high after using their system.
What do you mean by “secure?”
Rainbird wifi is trash. It's secure because it DOESN'T CONNECT!
Believe it or not I had to turn my phone on airplane mode and then try to connect the rainbird on android..it took a while but it worked
Do I need my clients phone to install this to his controller ?

How do I get it on 12 hrs rather than24
Watch our Thrifty Garage RainBird TM2 Programming video. It shows the clock in the first minute or two.
Mine does not connect even with full WiFi signal

Consult with an expert you might have a malfunction due to a bad installation
Rainbird need to improve the hot spot connection and when wifi is unable.

Click on the settings (gear icon) at the bottom of the video screen. You can change the playback speed to slow it down.

I’ve never had an issue unless there was truly poor WiFi reception.
controller not available wifi ok,ow connection with controller, connection without internet a solution please internet at home is perfect
You have to add the LNK WiFi module and be within network range.
@@ThriftyGarage I deleted everything and reinstate it now it's OK thx
Had I not watched the video I would not have known where the USB port was
