    ☆ ☆ ABOUT ME ☆ ☆
Hi my name is Quita. I am a Risk Adjustment Medical Coder and I hold 3 certifications from the AAPC which are: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), COC (Certified Outpatient Code), and a CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder). I'm currently studying for my CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification given by Ahima which is geared for Inpatient Coding. I was inspired to make this channel because there were hardly any Day In The Life of a Medical Coder videos on the UA-cam platform. I also upload lifestyle vlog content. Anyone who is searching on how to become a medical coder will benefit from this channel. If you enjoy lifestyle vlogs you will also enjoy this channel. I upload videos every week!

Networking is key...that's how I landed my first coding position without any experience. I network with some coders from my local AAPC chapter in San Antonio, TX and was able to get an interview and job. Once hired, I help one of my friends land a job 3 months later.

When I was a manager, the best employees I had was the one without experience because they tried really hard to impress, to get a raise, to get better hours etc…
I will take this with me into Coding. If I ever become a hire manager, I will remember those employees.

Subscribed! Also, I’m self studying for my cpc exam. No experience at all but I’ve been putting off school for a few years now. Mainly because I can’t just not work lol. So I’ve been studying super hard for the last few months. It’s hard without the books yet: ICD-10-CM, HCPCS & CPT. but I’m planning on getting one each paycheck, so that’s one every 2 weeks! I’ll get there! Ive made flash cards with index cards and I’ve been studying like crazy! Listening while I clean at work (I do housekeeping) as well as when I get home from work or when I’m off! Anyway, sorry for the long comment. But I’m so glad I found your page! I’ll be watching every video lol.

I hope you become the most famous medical coder vlogger out there because it was so nice hearing you talk. I am a newly certified CPC-A myself, just started Practicode to remove my A status and I feel like I have no idea what I am doing, having a little bit of the imposter syndrome. I am looking for a job as well but I am very scared to even think about an interview. I don’t have almost anything valuable on my resume and my confidence is almost 0. I’m not picky at all, remote or not, I am very motivated to build and make this a career for myself. Hearing about your experience and all the knowledge you have now, gave me more confidence to keep going. Thank you!

Wow! I’ve been disabled since 2015 due to limb loss. I’m a past Medical Assistant and currently a licensed Life & Health Insurance agent. This may be what I was looking for. Remote employment is needed and I know I’ve stumbled upon your page by divine intervention. Especially when I saw your vision board in the back and I have a blank one in front of me right now!! But God? Thank you for the inspiration sorry it’s so long. Be blessed my friend and keep doing what your doing it helps so much.🌺❤️🙏

You say things a lot of ppl need to hear. Too many people these days give into a negative mentality and it's pretty sad. The way I see it is this generation is our last hope and if we don't get some gumption then we are doomed! I see so many ppl with good potential get down on themselves for no reason.

Love this! A lot of people beat around the bush with super general info in these types of videos. My first position after cpc has been a home health company, originally clerical work as an in, but now only resolving our coders queries and doing some oasis chart review. I still feel like I might be lost if I was trying to code to some extent and I could learn a lot more, not sure what will happen from here but I definitely got lucky.

Yes, this video helped TREMENDOUSLY! You are so inspirational and motivating! I love your positive energy. I heard another coder say she even applied TO THE JOBS THAT SAID, "INEXPERIENCED CODERS - NEED NOT APPLY". She applied anyway AND GOT HIRED! BECAUSE SHE SLAYED HER RESUME AND INTERVIEW! She said it's all in how you PRESENT the package! So hearing you just made me even more determined! I am not even worried now! You have been a blessing, girl. I am an introvert and extrovert, too! I can "feel" you genuinely care and that's priceless. I love your personality, too -- please, don't stop making videos because you are really helping people. Subbed today! Yay!

I love this ❤❤ Thank you for posting!!!!! Love your energy✨ I have 1 more year to get my cert :))) I am on reddit a lot in the medicalcoder sub and while there is good info there, there are many gloom & doomers. These are people who did not find jobs and need a place to vent so they go there. Likely they have severe anxiety and do not know how to present themselves or they are not putting their best foot forward. Medical coding attracts very introverted and severely socially anxious types of people (me) but what they don't realize is that they still need to be able to conquer that just a little bit to get through an interview. I remember there was someone in there saying on one of post that they never get past phone interviews and they are giving up. Well on a different post they also said they get severe anxiety with talking on the phone. That is exactly what I am saying!
Just want to put out there that this is the business side of healthcare. You have to shine the best way you can whether you are an introvert, anxious, extrovert. You need to be professional and try your best, believe in yourself!!! OP got it we can too.

Thank you! Very helpful. You are so sweet! My thoughts were running with the "what are you doing? and You will not find anything, everyone wants experience." I am currently going to a technical school online and going to be moving to another state. I was really hoping to find something before I move and possibly from home. I am open to either because I want a better income. I am a single Mom and turning 51, I am ready for a better life. :) Thank you again and God bless!! :)

Love the video. I know not to give up. Thank you for the 5 tips. I have got a lot of call back due to I do not have the CPC-A. I have worked in the billing office for over 10 years while I was in school the supervisor I worked for sent letter in to the AAPC once I passed the test I came out with CPC. Still not able to found a position with no experience. I will indeed keep looking. Thank you for inspiration.

Thank you Quita, in 2006 I went to school for a Medical Assistant but then left the Medical Field and became a truck driver but I recently was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis December of 2022 so instead of pursuing Career in Medical Assistant again because with Multiple Sclerosis my doctor told me I may not be able to do blood draws etc later if I develop Tremors later so I had some classes in Medical Coding back when I took Medical Assistant classes but that was over 17 years ago, I'm planning to start classes which online with the Community College in my area and I just wanted to say thank you for your positive feedback and stay positive in this life, may God continue to richly Bless you 🙏🏼❤️

👋 Quita!!! I just became one of your new subbies. I love the encouragement that you showed in this 📹. It was informative, very, very positive, and knowledgeable. Thank you 😊 so much for putting this out here. I have been wanting to become a medical coder and biller for over 10 years, and I want a new change in careers from the one I have now. The only thing is I don't know what school to go to get started on this new journey. 😐 If you don't mind my asking what school did you attend or could you give me any advice as to what to do?

I love your energy! I am not credentialed yet. I am self studying. I have no coding experience and little work experience because I've been a stay at home mom for my whole adult life. Now the kids are all in school, and coding is my dream job! You have encouraged me to keep studying and get credentials and get that job!

Hi Quita. I watched this video on my way to work today and I cannot tell you how inspired you made me. I went to school to study Medical Billing and Coding. Now I’m searching to find Entry Level MBC due to no experience. You opened a perspective to not give up and allow those negative thoughts to just be that.
Thank you girl. Also, do you have a LinkedIn? If you do not mind, I’d love to connect with you.

I'm actually in school right now for my associates degree as a medical records technician which my school also includes NRCCS (Nationally Registered Certified Coding Specialist) and CEHRS (Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist). So, I am super excited. However, lately I've been in doubt of what I can achieve and it has been taking a huge toll on me but I'm working on it and I am ready to learn. Thank you for this information, I really needed to hear this message tonight. Thank you again!!!
