    ☆ ☆ ABOUT ME ☆ ☆
    Hi my name is Laquita. I am a Risk Adjustment Medical Coder and I hold 3 certifications from the AAPC which are: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), COC (Certified Outpatient Code), and a CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder). I was inspired to make this channel because there were hardly any Day In The Life of a Medical Coder videos on the UA-cam platform. I hope you enjoy my content!

    I used to work bedside but now I have mobility problems. I thought about going to school for this but I couldn’t find anyone showing the general gist as to how this actually works. Thank you! I definitely feel this is something I can handle(at least out of the ICD 10 lol)

    This is Great!! I took my CPC 7 years ago and missed by only 4 pts, I plan on studying and retaking it by the end of 2023. I have worked doing Healthcare, mostly on the Pharmacy side which is different from the medical side. I prefer the medical side because that's where my training is.

    Thank you so so much. You saved me from giving up. I'm almost done with my course now. I've asked friends questions and did my research, and I felt coding was easy and right for me. But when I got to CDT I was like, nah, I can't do this. Like why isn't it as breezy as ICD 10. But you're showing me I could choose jobs that only work with ICD 10. BTW I also always wanted my own office. 1 question: How many cases do you work each day. Thank you so much for your videos. You saved me 🙏🏽

    Thank you so much for all that info. About your office. I have something similar. I work from home. I also have side projects and I also have another desk etc. I realized we use our eyes all day at work, then after work, then we look at our phone. I finally bought some glasses that help with blue light. I only use them after work on my projects but it helps to give my eyes a break. I know I can adjust my computer etc but I rather use the glasses. Thank you once again for all that info, it will help me plan on what to do next.

You said "After I saw your video that jobs do hire coders without experience I never gave up.". Are you saying you found a medical coding position without an actual certification? Wow! That's an amazing story. Please share (If you don't mind). The believe acrylic block on my personal desk was purchased from Home Goods in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Ym5m0RsbilU/v-deo.html. I don't have a chair recommendation. The chair I have sucks lol which I purchased from Sam's club for like $98 at the time.

    • @Ms.Laquita
      @Ms.Laquita  6 місяців тому

      There are various online platforms offering medical coding courses that have gained positive recognition. It’s essential to research thoroughly, consider reviews, course offerings, accreditation, and potential job placement assistance before choosing a program. Some individuals also utilize community college programs. I can't personally endorse any. Once I endorse a company, I become associated/affiliated with that company. If I create a video recommending a medical coding school or resume writing service, it will position me as a spokesperson for that company, endorsing their products. If individuals sign up for these services based on my influence and end up dissatisfied, I'll bear the responsibility for it and I'm not willing to take on that burden which is why I've never done any sponsorships on this channel.

      Hello! Yes, you can find a job w/o any experience. I started as a CPC-A with no experience. The opportunities are out there, but it takes patience and whole lot of due diligence. There are several newly certified individuals out there competing for the same opportunities. It sounds like a cliche, but Consistency really is key when searching for entry level coding roles.

    I heard medical coders have to pay recertification fees every year. How much do you pay every year for recertification fees?

      I'm certified through the AAPC. I pay a yearly membership fee to keep my certifications active. Here is a link with details about pricing: www.aapc.com/membership/
      I'm not certified through Ahima, but you can find info about membership their membership fees with a quick Google search.
