It’s amazing to me how we have different versions of “sweating the small stuff”. I can’t handle someone talking to me when I’m trying to get something done. Even if they just interrupt me for a moment, it completely destroys my train of thought.

I can't tell you how profoundly upset I get thinking about how limited the human lifespan is. Because that is a limit on the creativity I can partake in/produce. I want to do everything. And knowing that it is an impossibility stings a bit. So I stick to doing as much as I can. And unfortunately I sometimes have to choose between doing things. I hate having to pick only one or two interesting things out of an endless number.

Techie bro says: store your wires end-with-end. It's the ends of the wires passing over and between each other that creates the tangle. If you store wires with ends matched to their partners, the occurrence of tangles become trivial at most

Haha yep! As an ENFP, I relate to some of your INTJ struggles. In socionics they say it's because we lack Si but want more of it. I hate forced software updates so much, and also packages that 1) don't open easily 2) cut my finger trying to open them! Having people around who are good at these types of things can really help. Also people who help you relax and provide you with soothing things like a nice cup of tea, a snack, a blanket, things we forget to do. I would say as an ENFP the thing that freaks me out the most is having to fill out forms where there isn't an option that fits into the blank. ENFPs are not good as systemic logic. INTJs are good at that. I also freak out when society tries to control individuals too much, which I think is a Fi thing. Don't steal my freedom, is a big thing for me! Thanks for the video.

I've never related to something so much - I don't remember the last time I had a drama or emotional stickiness with humans, yet I cannot go a single day without fighting with a computer, a piece of software I am writing or debugging, or an object that is misbehaving. INTJness is a surprisingly useful framework to understand life.

  • @Koffent
    @Koffent 5 років тому +21

Well said. I've always been slightly irritated by people who claim they're several different types depending on the situation. Also when people assume that's what I mean when I say I identify as INFJ but I can relate to INTJs in many ways. I do not in anyway believe I am an INTJ. It's also kind of sad that some people who claim multiple types are just lying to themselves as well as severely lack identity and self awareness. It does no good to deny who you really are.
I enjoy watching your channel because its enlightening to see someone who perceives the world in such a similar way but deals with it in a fashion that wouldn't typically cross my mind. I feel like I learn a lot from you. You bring a different perspective to life for me, which I think everyone should seek out. That's how we progress as a society and as the human race. I feel everyone should be open to the views of others and can definitely learn from others. If you only seek out and listen to people who share your own views and opinions you become stagnant and stop growing.

How could I ever suspect I’m a single observer (IxxJ) when my tidal waves come from assuming the worst out of *people* and over-isolating, wanting to be looked up to, completely overlooking tribe values, etc...
Single observers probably make good therapists because they see through the people-based fears bullshit and are comparably less fretful over judgement. I admire that a lot.

Sometimes I get annoyed at: innanimate objects getting in the way of doing something, something not working right, (the time's I've been on the brink of taking the hardest object to a slow computer, but then thinking - ok relax, it makes no sence to annihilate the thing (reasons).
But when I see people argue about something, I often just don't care. When people start wasting my time or distract me from something repeatedly and consistently - that's when I might get annoyed. When I'm in a conversation with people and they start to gossip - I usually just want to get away from it (I don't care what that person did, in no way is this information valuable or relevant to me).
    - Most likely type?

This helps me understand why my several IxxP's and ExxJ's freak out all of a sudden, claiming the people-pleasing sacrifice I thought they'd chosen is making them suffer and feel unseen, and why I'm like "?????????!!" every time. I guess I can understand the outburst more if I think of it as what happens when there is a tiny, bullshit detail of the physical world screwing up or delaying my entire plan (in my perception, anyway) lol. I think I understand what people are referring to. When I focus on Fi, I feel and appear ISFPish. I can listen to and incorporate my critical parent Ti into consciousness, becoming INTPlike, and I can focus on Se, becoming like a wild ESFP, which always seems to lead into fifth-slot Ne; where/when I'm no longer here for the sensory experience and instead just want to debate for the challenge (the fun of it) like an ENTP.
Although people are simply referring to a single function, let's say Ti, I believe they think themselves as INTP specifically, and not ISTP, because any NT will naturally want to pair a thinking function with intuition. And I assume the reverse for STs. This creates two different spectrums:
    A:
    1 INTJ (Ni)
    2 ENTJ (Te)
    3 ISFP (Fi)
    4 ESFP (Se)
    5 ENTP (Ne)
    6 INTP (Ti)
7 & 8 ISFJ and ESFJ are more like ISxJ & ESxJ, and are basically out of our reach, but they're there, on this NT-SF axis.
    B:
    1 INFJ (Ni)
    2 ENFJ (Fe)
    3 ISTP (Ti)
    4 ESTP (Se)
    5 ENFP (Ne)
    6 INFP (Fi)
    7 & 8 xSTJ (Si/Te)
There seem to be two axises, the INFJ metacognitive Jesus and the INTJ metacognitive Hecate, each with eight possible configurations. Even so, I don't believe we're entirely limited to one axis or the other. As dominant-intuitive double-judgers we pair Fi with Ni, Se or even Ne, and can explore the possibilities in regards to our Fi, using INFP Fi-Ne functions.
So yes, I agree that we're always factory-reset INTJs, but the exploration of our lower functions does make us INTPlike, ESFPlike, or whatever... we are the goddess of the crossroads, lol.

  • @andreagreenwood93

Fascinating video! I did not notice the pattern before with all the EPs and IJs having the perceiving function as a first function and their judging functions close together in the middle of the stack, and the EJs and IPs being the opposite. Also interesting to see what makes each type freak out. Haha I relate to the battery example; my husband says I open everything like an ape 😆. Sometimes I completely lose my shit when I can't find an object I'm looking for, screaming and possibly tears if there's no one to see. I always attributed that to having no Si in the 4 function stack, but this video showed a new angle on that.
I think it's possible to feel like other types when you are using other functions besides your primary. I'm a nerd 80% of the time but occasionally I like to, say, lay out and watch a meteor shower with an ISFP friend. Se indulgences.
Have you read into John Beebe's full 8 function stack theory?

I never had the notion I'm a different type because no matter what my life is like, I react the same. In my case as an intj when I lose control of the situation and I seemingly can't think my way out of a problem and I can't trust others to be useful and the burden is put on me, then I will have a brief emotional outburst then I gather myself quickly then I think of my solution.
I don't even do that anymore because I noticed a repetitive event occurs when it's a problem and im associated with others they want me to crack under pressure to use my resources.
Soon as I do that, all of a sudden the other person had last minute luck in solving the problem that was not mine to begin with, so now I called her bluff everytime and like clockwork she came through to pay off something which added on another reason to never associate myself with my mother again, too sneaky and conniving and a liar. I also took that same knowledge to other people when an emergency and or bad luck happen, I came to the conclusion 99% of the time everyone else wants someone else to spend time and resources of their's to solve that person or group of people's problems without using there's and once again like clockwork, I was right which made me even more cynical and untrusting of humans which is why I don't be around people or if I do, I act like I don't have much. So I dont wear one of my many pairs of hand made 500 dollar Chelsea boots I wear regularly instead I wear a pair of my converses which I also like but I know it's a universal pair of shoes that can be worn in any situation but reveals nothing about my financial worth, used the same strategy to find my wife because unlike most men that thinks all women are just dumb emotional creatures I know your not and I scrubbed through every single strategy women use to figure out a man's potential bank account I counted 14 but that's a different story all together about the things a shitty woman could do to man and I know most men are just retarded dirt bags anyway but women are trying hard to hide there gender's dirty laundry..... good video as always.

This is so important, thanks for making the video.
I think for some people it's hard to see that it's the perspective that's making things as bad as they are inside our heads and that it's the subjective point of view that puts on dark shades and makes us see black. After I've realised this i was able to practice reminding myself, for example, when the bus is late and there's nothing i can do about it, so I'll be late and my plans start sinking, i remind myself that no, maybe I'll be late but getting all mad because of that wouldn't do anything (if my disappointment, annoyance and anger were able to make the bus go faster, that would've been an another story) and the overall of my "lateness" is, but in the long term it wouldn't matter at all so basically there's no point to get all stressed out as much at the very moment. I used to think that i was overreacting about some stuff and that it made me weird. Later I've found out that actually every brain is different and tho we're same in some way as people, it's natural for me to freak out about some things that other people don't freak out about and vise versa. Neither are they weird nor am I an alien, it's just that our brains have different default options.

Gotta say, that's where I REALLY don't find myself.
As an INTP I had a lot of struggles with me and the tribe... In my childhood, and still I would describe it different to you.
To this day I can be quite withdrawn if I need me time, but mostly I don't have any issue balancing me with my tribe.
But what I have is, to a lesser degree, the struggles you describe for IXXJs and EXXPs.
I often blame the situation for issues, I neglect things that need doing until I don't have another chance. Watching your video about your single observer struggles I agree with you a lot of times. Though at the same time I won't pounder on it. So that's IXXJ struggles to a lesser degree.
Meanwhile I also need and value my freedom to follow my interests, and I invest time in many things that I'll eventually have to basically not use, at least not for what it cost me. That's EXXP struggles according to you.
To be honest I don't feel like the single observer /decider model really is a good choice for typing. If you find yourself in it great, but otherwise I don't see how it helps much at all. It focuses to much on a single function. I prefer what I've seen from interaction styles so far. That destinction model also doesn't singularly focus on your struggles and thus can be fed with more data.

Ok so your IXXP struggle is on point! Very typical. And as for the ExxP, you do have an Oe function- your Ne - so that would make sense for it to be in second place!

This!! Couldn’t agree more. Because I have Fe, I am great at observing the drama from a distance and finding a diplomatic solution around it. But you won’t find me in it. Now, that being said, sometimes the “chaos” can still come from the “reality” of people, since they do things and impact the environment. But as a single observer, you’re not going to be stirring the pot - you have too many other issues to try and coordinate. Lol

Next, I would launch a barrage of cruise missiles at the manufacturer's headquarters, razing them to the ground. This part of OPS logic really confuses me. On MBTI I get INTJ every time and I don't freak out over things. Things are easy compared to people. I can fix, possibly change an object, or simply adjust my own behavior so I can work with said object. With people however there is no fixing stupid. Also my partner is a ESFJ and gets way more upset about things than people. I think OPS may have gotten this part of their testing grid upside down. But on the other side, yeah when me and my partner have fights, I want to see how each of us is both right and wrong, and what is the point of the fight.

So autism spectrum is naturally going to struggle with people and also sensory issues regardless of type. If a person is an introvert on the spectrum this would make it difficult to tell between the two of which is the inferior between Se and Fe. However, this difficulty may not be so difficult to separate for the extroverted spectrums and especially less difficult for the males on the spectrum.
The more I studied into mbti the more I come to the conclusion that if you have a mental illness or neurological difference you need to identify what’s part of your symptoms and what counts as you yourself in mental wiring at your best or least affected days and type from there starting with the dominant.
Would you agree or would you suggest a different approach to typing when affected by neurological symptoms? What would your approach be to differentiating a persons type vs their ailment?

    • @InternetLiJo

I believe that even with neurological symptoms, there is still responsibility to certain functions. Even with Autism, sometimes you see those needs extremely heightened. For example, the need to organize Oi, the need to find new Oe, the need to serve others De, and the sense of self first Di. I wouldn't claim to be an expert in this are though.
