Based on your review of the Enjoywood Pocket-Hole jig I purchased it even though I already own a Kreg kit. It arrived today and it is impressive. Really appreciate your reviews.
You literally make me want to take up technical drawing again. I don't even know why I stopped. It's so enjoyable scaling your drawings than doing it on the computer. Well for me it is. You inspire me. ❤
A great video Dennis, as usual, following which I asked for this pocket hole jig as a Christmas present. I unboxed it yesterday, and found parts in the package whose purpose isn't shown anywhere in the instructions, nor in your video. There are two right angled brackets made from the same black anodised aluminium as the pocket hole jig. Each is 12mm thick, and on the outside measurement the sides are 34mm and 37.5mm, and the width 28mm. There is a hole through each bracket, perfectly machined to accept rods (below) with a screw to secure the rod in place. On one side is a stainless steel plate secured by 2 screws, one as a pivot, the other through a circular slot, enabling the plate to be swivelled and set at an angle to the bracket. The rods are 6 beautifully machined stainless steel rods, each 6mm diameter and 200mm overall length, with an M3.5 x 8mm male thread on the end, and a corresponding female thread on the other end. They are most likely intended to be screwed together into one long rod. I have no idea what the purpose of any of these components is, and suspect they were included in the package by mistake, but if anybody reading this has any idea what they may be, please let me know. I have, of course, photos of them, but I can’t include photos here, unless anybody knows how I can do that? Thank you!
Hi Dennis, thank you for this in-depth review. I startet with a wolfcraft pocket-hole-jig, which was my entry to this topic. I'm a big fan of pocket hole connections, but the small wolfcraft jig came to a limit when I was building angled and complicated structures. I just ordered the XK-4 and when I watched your video I'm 100% sure, that this little jig is going to be exactly what I need. Keep up the good work!
I really like your tests of China-Tools and sometimes I find these tools from other brands (no brands/imitations) with really low quality. Just came across your test of this jig and looked for it on Lazada, as I am in Thailand. Here it costs just about 1600 THB which is about 42 to 43 USD right now what makes it even more interesting for me. From all shown pictures it looks absolutely original and of good quality. And it also includes 2 of the drill bits. Lets wait and see if it is the same and the quality is as good as in your test.
I bought this because the cheap plastic one isn't fun to use. This was! I couldn't even get the stop on the drill bit at all. Luckily I had another. I can't compare to Kreg because I've never had one. Thanks for pointing me towards it. I'll copy your platform one weekend.
HelloDenis, what a wonderful find, thank you for sharing. I look forward to the next video and catching up on previous episodes :) Greetings from Ireland:)
Dennis, another great review. As usual, I love the jigs you make with the black MDF but I am afraid I must ask you stop using the black MDF. Many of us can not find that product where we live and it is not fair to see such beautiful and functional jigs we can't have. I am kidding of course - keep up the great work in your shop and videos.
There are several suppliers on the internet that sell colored MDF. I won't post the links on here because it may be against Dennis' agreements with his venders.
The Jig I would recommend most is the Armor Tool jig, which has an auto adjust for the bit and works really well. Armor tool also has color coded screws which makes organization easier. I didn't like the Kreg 720 - I felt like it had parts that didn't fit together well, like the wings. I think you basically have to build a platform for it and that shouldn't be necessary. If I had more patience I might have got it working, but because it was on back order for a very long time originally. By the time it arrived I already had the Armor Tool and also the Massca jig (another solid jig) and I didn't feel it was worth it and I donated it.
That was going to be my choice because I loved the features. However, there are far too many issues being reported, in many woodworking forums, that I changed my mind. Just bought the one above.
Thank You for a well thought-out review of this tool. Your evaluations are always in-depth and clear and logic. (And I wish we could get the black MDF here in South Africa!)
I always enjoy your china tools review Dennis you cover every detail about the tool. And this pocket hole jig looks great I own a Armour pocket hole jig it’s not as pricey as the kreg and it’s built well with great dust collection. Thanks for all the work and effort you put in to make this a great channel
Hey Dennis! Great you came up with this right now. Will be starting a project soon where I need pocket holes and just bought it right away. Very convincing! Too bad, that you do not remember, which drill bits you normally use. Lets see how the one performs, that comes with the jig. Thanks and keep up your excellent work! Best Regards Andreas
I only use pocket holes for light work and then if its downward pressure as dowels are stronger, and even stronger than dominos which I find very over rated, but never the less another good and useful video so thank you Dennis well done
0:35 I don't think thin drill bushings are a problem if the material is any good. Thin or thick, if it's decently hardened steel it isn't going to wear out. Other than that quibble, your reviews and ratings are reasonable.
Hey Dennis my friend.. I saw ur video on the site Banggood and I bought this brilliant and very beautifully made Pocket Hole Jig. It's a fantastic bit of kit. Now I still need to make a holding piece for it but I will get down to that soon. I have 12 days off for Xmas so those 12 days will give me time to build my workbench finally and I will make a nice piece from MDF for this. Unfortunately I cannot get Black MDF here atm so ordinary MDF will have to do. Thanks for the inspiration bro. Now onto some other tools u gave me a heads up on. Those lovely Hold down clamps with the 19/20mm dog hole shafts are a wonderful clamp mate. They are so well made too but I also went for these very small grey squares as well pal.. They are so precise as well which for the price I couldn't believe it. I watch ur China Tools video all the time bcos u give great advice so I wanted to drop a line wisjing u a very Merry Xmas and also I wish u every success in 2023. Love the new workshop u built a while back too btw. Oh one kore thing. It's a shame bcos I wanted it to do something for family this Xmas. However I think I will go back again and buy the Atomstack u reviewed for my Niece and her mum next year bcos it's a brilliant piece of kit for the price. Great review, their prices are bonkers though. If you’re in the UK, currently they’re £110 if bought from China, and £62 if bought from USA (but that would incur a bunch of import and handling fees).
UPDATE: Today the ordered part arrived and I unpacked it immediately. It corresponds fully to the one shown here. The feel is excellent and it makes an perfect impression. I have made the first test holes and can only fully agree with the post and the absolutely positive assessment of this tool. The price here in Thailand (incl. shipping from China) was 40.80 USD
I really like the effort and dedication you put in making your jigs absolutely perfect. I woudln't even dare to use them to work fearing to damage them actually ;)
Dennis; since I started looking at Banggood tools, some years ago, I think that their prices have, overall, incteased to the point that they don't have attractive prices, unless you happen to come across something on special ... I guess that success is killing their price advantage.
I bought the Enjoywood pocket hole jig a few days ago, I already own kreg mini for many years. The Enjoywood is very well constructed, but the drill bit is a total junk. It didn't manage to drill a single hole. You will have to buy the Kreg drill bit if you really want to enjoy this Jig. The toggle clamp is very basic and it is very difficult to find the correct setting for the wood thickness. If you want to improve this Jig you will need to buy a Bessey self adjusting toggle clamp + Kreg drill bit, this will set total price very close to the Kreg 720 which is far superior.
What a great review on this pocket hole jig. Reasonable price at $69.00. Very nice platform. stay safe, happy and healthy, thank you for sharing this with us today, from Henrico County Virginia
I just bought this, its very well made, especially for this price, and I agree about the drill depth collar, according to the scale its set way too high, the drill should be lowered close to the base, so more threads of pocket hole screw are sink into the other piece of wood, the drill is also not very good, it should be upgraded immediately, other than that im very pleased with my purchase and would reccomend it.
Hi Dennis love your channel I bought this pocket hole after your review. Great bit of kit. Have just got my 20w laser and was wondering how you got to cut out for this tool. Or if you have the file to share. Many thank. Am new to the laser machine
Awesome Video. Thanks for adding the information about the screws👍😍. Think I make an easier platform for my pocket hole jig. I don't have the equipment.
dowels or pocket hole? It depends which of your videos I watch. I am leaning toward the dowel jig you reviewed as I have seen a few videos showing dowels to be stronger. Also they are always hidden. I wonder which method Dennis would use.
That looks very much like a variation of Trend's Pro pocket hole jig. The clamping lever is like a car handbrake. Be warned though, that if you hold it like a handbrake, as the clamp snaps shut it can crush your fingers between the handle and the bushing mount beneath it. I drilled out the rivets and made a longer handle from steel flat bar which prevents this. It's a couple of drilled holes and some filing - the rubber grip pulls off and slides onto the new handle. Worth the time to avoid an inconvenient injury.
Unfortunately Banggood has become very difficult to buy from. I have about 20 items in my wishlist that are 'under restocking', and the estimated availability kepps going back further and further. Some items I have waited for 3 months and they are still not available. Other items I have given up waiting and purchased elsewhere. It is such a shame, and I suspect related to the endless lockdowns and also the global supply chain problems, but Banggood is no longer my go to place for tools and jigs.
This base has two layers, one of which is black, what kind of material is it and where could buy this? aslo I see some words printed on it, how to archive this?
Hi Dennis! I've been enjoying your China Tools series very much. What is the black material you used to make the base for the pocket hole tool? Thank you so much for your thorough and thoughtful analysis of so many tools!!
You should because that is written at the beginning at every video. I get all these products for testing and I give my opinion about them. This is not how it started of course, but at this moment I search there site for things I think might be interesting and review them.
Another great review Dennis, although every time you do one of these my wallet cries out! Could you show us how you did the incredibly large chamfers on the black mdf? I've seen them in other builds of yours and they look great but we never get to see how you do them.
Hi Dennis, how do you set different material thickness, which are not marked? There are material thickness marked e.g. 38mm and 44mm, but the measured distance between them is 10mm. The mathematical distance is 6mm. How do i set for 40mm thickness?
Hi, You are right. Kreg also does some shortcuts with their height or depth adjustments. So, I tested this, and you are right that there is some difference. But it did not make it into my videos because, in the end, it does not matter. When it is a bit off center, it does not influence the strength of the connection, nor do you see it. So, just guess in between. When you make two holes, one at 38 and one at 44, you will see that it is only a small difference where the screw leaves the wood. More important is the depth of the drill bit. I would do this the way I showed in the video. Thanks for your comment.
@HookedonWood I just bought this pocket hole jig for 44 euro .Quality seems very nice!. 😢 I have a question though, even though the depth can be set to around 44mm, i can nowhere near clamp a piece this thick. Even when tightening down the screw, it presses out the soft cushen for the clamping instead of reaching the material depth. Do you know if this is normal or do i have a faulty unit?
Is possible that this become critical. (I did not test it to this limits because I usually stay withing 15-25mm) I would suggest to use it without the base, so clamp the insert to this size wood
@@HookedonWood yes, I'm now using without base, shame that even though it's specified it's not ale to hold the thickness in the clamp itself. Not unworkable, but a small downside
Hi Dennis. Have you tried laser cutting black MDF ? Would be very interested if that works. I am wanting to use some 10mm MDF but don't have a laser cutter.
With a strong laser is will work. My former Co2 laser or 20w diode laser where not capable of doing this. But my current 100w Co2 laser cuts 10mm black MDF.
@@HookedonWood Great thanks. Confirms what limited info I could find online about standard MDF. P.S do you just use the Part A Rubio oil with the black MDF ? Seems to be a 2 component mix on their website ?
Wel raar dat de link een goedkopere optie geeft in de browser dan wanneer deze in de eigenlijke app geopend wordt Evengoed komt ie binnenkort in mijn schuur te liggen :-)
Another great review Dennis, I have an XK3 which is only a portable unit and has no base for clamping boards to, which can be awkward for repetitive jobs such as making Drawers. Can't decide whether to buy this one or spend the extra money and go for the Kreg 720 Pro but parts of that seem a little flimsy. If cost didn't matter, which one would you go for ??
I would buy the 720, not the Pro version. That is a very nice machine. At the other side, working with both of them Is perhaps different but not in a way one is much more convenient. So, if money is important you will be very happy with this one. The best user experience will be delivered by the Kreg 720
@@HookedonWood Dennis many thanks for taking the time to reply and your insights into both Pocket Hole Jigs. I will watch both reviews again and make my mind up, I do like the look of the Kreg 720 and I do already have my XK3 for awkward pocket hole situations. Just a shame the 720 has so much "plastic"... Decisions, Decisions 😁
Hi Dennis, well Banggood has made up my mind for me 😁 the price of the Enjoywood jig jumped overnight from £68 to £93 in the EU and with the standard Kreg 720 available in the UK for just £112 it's an obvious choice for me. Just need to work out the best way to make the rather awkward platform. Thanks again for your excellent reviews.
Hi Dennis, excellent again. have you considered making the platform as a box with drawers so that you can keep the drill and driver bit, etc. all together?. I did this for my Kreg and have found it very useful.
Yep, every time I made a platform actually. My Kreg has all this at the back, so I know the convenience of not heaving to search for it. Perhaps next time:-)
Bedankt, David
I beg to disagree. @2:00. It clearly show that the sleeve bushing does not extend all the way to the exit of the angled plate. This means the drill bit will wobble like crazy. Better immediately buy the more expensive Kreg and avoid the grief. Because in the end, you will find out it doesn't work well and end up buying the Kreg as well.
My Kreg 720 does also not go all the way to. In fact the busxhing is as long. My older Kreg did. But the new ones not anymore. It now act as a zero clearance.
@@HookedonWood I see. Mine does too.. Meaning older model. Basically the bushing needs to be as long as possible. On the Foreman model. The bushing is slanted. Expensive though.
@@ramonching7772 , But I agree with you. At my Kreg review, I mentioned this as a sort of shortcoming, or at least a shame they leave it out. However, It makes better holes than my older Kreg and does everything right. So, I think the most important part of keeping it straight is the upper side.
Question if that feature is worth double the price? I think the Armour is great, and I even like my Kreg better. But for 69 dollars, you get a lot of pocket hole for the money. That will not mean better are not available. At least in my opinion:-)
You are right - if it doubles the price - it may not be marketable - and I realize am being picky here. My thought is that sometimes, while you are developing a product, these little extras, with minimal thought, can be added at little to no cost; but at other times - as you said - can double the price. I wonder in this case? Just my opinion...Good review - thank you.
This item would cost me around €240 from ebay including P&P and import duties delivered to Ireland - I'm sure it is as good as you say it is but way over my budget....!
I was skeptical as well, but then I ordered some products which were linked here. Everything came as ordered. I don‘t know what will happen if you want to send something back or if something is broken, because so far I had no issues and no contact with customer support. *knocks on wood* I payed with Apple Pay which worked well. BUT I made one big mistake: I signed up with my normal email. I should have signed up with my „spam-mail“. They send you a lot of junk mails and you can‘t unsubscribe. This is the only shady thing. There is a „unsubscribe“-link in every mail, because this is a law, but the link is always broken. Every time I clicked it, it opened my banggood app and showed me a blank page… So in my experience if you follow the links from here and sign up with a non important mail it works just fine.
I have at least 9 items from banggood that I can remember right now. Only one came damaged (angle ruler the ones like incra with holes on every mm) very bad/light packaging, insuficient for a delicate item. T ruler 400mm (again incra style with mm hole spacing) from the same order wasn't damaged, it was delivered a couple of days after the damaged one in perfect condition. And once I had to wait month a half for delivery but I knew that would be the case as they did say item was out of stock (45° precision machine square), they did let me order anyway which is great. That purchase contained 4 items incl that 45° square and 3 got delivered within 3 weeks one by one and there was an email update after every delivery updating me on missing item to come into stock. So 5 stars for banggood from me, will buy again, there are several items I am eyeballing right now incl this pocket jig.

Great video Dennis your shop is looking amazing I’m really happy for you cheers brother 🇨🇦
Hi Dennis love your channel I bought this pocket hole after your review. Great bit of kit. Have just got my 20w laser and was wondering how you got to cut out for this tool. Or if you have the file to share. Many thank. Am new to the laser machine
amazing video... very clear in the concepts!!!! greetings from Chile.... and Thanks
I think this was a good review. Lots of good information.
I watch all of your videos and always seem to learn something from them. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the review. Have just ordered.
Do you have a video/plans of you acoustic panel s you made? I'd like to try and make some.
Always love watching your reviews. But Denis, I missed episode 36 of China Tools. Did we skip an episode?
3:48 this kind of bit it's called Robertson 😉
Hello from Australia! Clicked on this immediately- your reviews are excellent!
Brilliant work on the base, Dennis! 😃
Thanks a lot for the review!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Would your lightburn file for the template be available anywhere?
What is the black material you use to mount the pocket hole screw jigs?
I would definitely say that using pocket hole screws is a better way to build cabinets and some other types of furniture.
Hi Dennis another excellent video, wished I had seen this before buying my kreg. Would pocket hole screws be Ok for Melamine faced particle board?
Can you share the materials list for the sound panels you built?
Valchromat
Can someone recommend a drill bit?
Mine broke after the first 30 holes, no crash, no nothing....
love your work. keep it up.
Where do you get that black MDF (?) from? Love it
Great review, i Think you should write if you are sponsored or not. Can’t find any info about that
You should because that is written at the beginning at every video. I get all these products for testing and I give my opinion about them. This is not how it started of course, but at this moment I search there site for things I think might be interesting and review them.
Would you be willing to share the file you used to cut the router template for the base?
Tips om een pocket hole te maken in een 68x68mm balk? Alle pocket hole malen die ik kan vinden gaan maar tot 38mm 🙄
Awesome video again
Can you or have tested routers from Bangggood??
Another great review Dennis, although every time you do one of these my wallet cries out! Could you show us how you did the incredibly large chamfers on the black mdf? I've seen them in other builds of yours and they look great but we never get to see how you do them.
What is the make and model of the laser you used?
@HookedonWood
I just bought this pocket hole jig for 44 euro
.Quality seems very nice!. 😢
I have a question though, even though the depth can be set to around 44mm, i can nowhere near clamp a piece this thick.
Great review Dennis once again.
Is the Kreg 720 still a better jig? Or would you have this one
No, Kreg is still better
@@HookedonWood 🙏🏻 thank you Dennis
If anyone in the EU is interested, the reduced price is still available from the Czech warehouse this evening...
Hallo, welke resultaten heb je gevonden met de rubio-olie en laser, ben je verder gekomen?
LG Kuno🙂
Great review mate 👍👍👍👍👍 thanks
your work precision is unmatched and intimidating too
Kreg 720 all the way 👍
Dennis, could you turn on Closed Captions, please?
working on it. thanks
Great idea 💡
BTW Dennis, love the channel
I would travel to netherlands, if you could tell me where to get this black mdf. Im from germany.
Schau mal beim Hornbach oder frag deinen lokalen Holzhändler. Ich habe kürzlich 19mm 2,85x2,1m beim letzteren gekauft
Hi, Dennis! What a pocket hole jig you can recommend today? (internationally available)
You can not go wrong with a kreg. I like the 720. But when your budget is limited I think the enjoywood give you more for your money
@@HookedonWood Thanks, I will go with enjoywood, it looks good for me.
Hi Denis, another great video. Would be nice to see a direct comparison with the Trend version which looks very similar. Keep those videos coming.
Super review weer Dennis! Heb je toevallig ook een tekening van de buiten keuken? 😎
I would buy the 720, not the
Pro version. That is a very nice machine. At the other side, working with both of them
Is perhaps different but not in a way one is much more convenient.
Perhaps next time:-)
Testing Very thorough reviews and script writing must take you a long time. Dank u well
Actually it does😊 thanks for recognizing that😄
Like the videos but I'm having such a hard time understanding what is being said.
I catch parts of but then groups of words I miss.
Hoi Dennis! Bedankt, David
Ik ken been vuistregel. Gebruik ook verschillende methodes zonder reden eigenlijk. Maar ik geloof dat dit wel de meesr nauwkeurige is.
Good, but lacks automatic-depth drill bit and wood thickness setup. Take off another 1/2 point.... :)
Just my opinion...Good review - thank you.
how so die: take a shot whenever he says pocketholejig
Nice one, Dennis! Also curious about the laser cutters/engravers as I'm planning to buy a 20W in the near future!
I plan to upload the making of my drill bit platform first, and than the laser video will be there!
You know the guy is serious, when he pulls out a DIN 874 knife straight edge.
So glad I subscribe to this channel hello from Texas partner 👋🤠
This item would cost me around €240 from ebay including P&P and import duties delivered to Ireland - I'm sure it is as good as you say it is but way over my budget....!
Where can you order this black MFT in the Netherlands? do you have a link for me? can't get that in Germany?!🙂 Thanks Kuno
I believe you can also buy it at Hornbach and Holzland In Germany according to viewers.
@@HookedonWood Thank You!
This really looks like a a copy of Massca M1, i wonder how they compare
Anyone here had any experience with Banggood? I like the idea but see loads of bad reviews and it looks like a high scam risk. Should it be avoided?
I was skeptical as well, but then I ordered some products which were linked here.
Everything came as ordered. I don‘t know what will happen if you want to send something back or if something is broken, because so far I had no issues and no contact with customer support. *knocks on wood*
I payed with Apple Pay which worked well.
Every time I clicked it, it opened my banggood app and showed me a blank page…
So in my experience if you follow the links from here and sign up with a non important mail it works just fine.
@@bluewanderer9903 @Ray Magini thanks for the feedback gents. I'll give it a go based on that 👍
