As a previous FC owner i would like to point out that The FC electronics suffer from a severe chronic case of extreme cold solder joints that tend to become problematic over time. I would advise that all the factory electronic modules be taken apart and inspected for broken or half broken solder joints. Pay especially close attention to any area where a connector plugs in. Makes a big difference

It gets worse with stiff suspension too, the vibrations crack the solder. Just as you said, right where the plug goes onto the board, almost impossible to see with the naked eye as well. I had this happen on two different boards on my S13, and one on my MX73.

when i bought my FC as I was driving home I lost the ability to put the car in 1st, and then 2nd. looking at the resevior from the outside it looked full. it was actually just dried residue on the inside of the master! filled it up and it was fine, but the master and clutch and stainless clutch line all came in pretty cheap so I just replaced it all.

I recently changed all my FC's lights to LEDs too a few months ago, I would recommend getting dedicated amber and red LED's for those lights, as the pure white ones shine so bright it washes them out, and you get like brake lights that are pink instead of red, or amber lights that look almost white at night, with a slight tint on the edges of amber.

There's infinite sizing for air to air cores. You could open up the hood entrance with a fiberglass hood (keep the original untouched. Arc the hood center up and use a deeper wider rubber flange. Use the surface of the much larger core end tanks to get another inch of depth (thickness) on the core. Area increases exponentially with a cube. LxWxH

Tire width does not equate to grip Rob. It's all about the compound and force over the wheel. A narrow tire actually grips better all things being equal although it's easier to exceed the limits of how much material can absorb the heat and forces.

I was going for a 3~2 downshift when I pushed the clutch in to pull it out of third I heard a pop and and the peddle stuck to the floor. I had to rev match to get it into second so I could get myself off the road and into a parking lot, then when I was pulling into the spot I blipped the throttle and pulled it out of gear on the rebound. Not a bad bit of driving if I may so myself. I had it towed home and took a cab to the dealer to pick up the new master, as my wife was not answering her phone. All said and done, it was down for 3 hours.

does the fuel tech not have a very fast closed loop fuel system and long term fuel trim table?

TL;DR - Tune in open loop only, closed loop for daily driving not racing
You generally keep closed loop off while you establish a base map. Once you feel like you have things in a good spot (sub 5% from desired lamda), then you can enable closed loop to look after things for everyday driving. When you're racing or in WOT, the vehicle automatically switches back to open loop, so using your LTFT/STFTs as a crutch for a bad map will result in a blown motor. LTFTs are good to help you identify if your low load portions of your map are too rich/lean if they're learning more than a few % (in OEM trim, once STFT reaches a certain threshold like 10-15% it will then push some of that value to LTFT to reset STFT close to 0 then it'll adjust more. once LTFT hits 20-25%, CELs get thrown)

I go to Baldy all the time and love the view, fun taking those turn down hill. But there's another place to have fun, take the 210 east to the 18, there are some fun roads going up the mountain

Next project is finding an RX3. No joke, though, the FC and FD are some of my absolute favorite car designs, even if I don't necessarily want the hobby of rebuilding rotary engines every 50-75k miles. I will say, a fun project would really be to build an FC or maybe a MX-5 with an NA Renesis engine. It definitely won't be a performance killer, but it'd be a fun everyday driver since the engine was designed to be more reliable without needing routine rebuilds. It could also be fun to throw a pair of really small turbos at it for an insanely quick boost build and see how much the Renesis can handle boost, but in a car that looks better than the RX-8. If you wanted to get back into piston-powered cars (I know, right?) but wanted something that you could make rev to absolutely insane RPMs, Ford worked with Yamaha back in the late 90's early 00's to make the legendary Duratec 2.5L V6 that, if not limited to protect the accessories run off the crank, could rev to 8700RPM. It also is able to take boost reasonably well. I think it'd make for an insane swap if a new oilpan and bell housing adapter could be made for it to convert it from the typical transverse application to a longitudinal application for installation into a gen1 MX-5. Silky smooth, extremely high revving V6 in a golf-cart sized car? It'd be great fun. A bit counter to your usual antics of rotary-swapping everything, though. The funny part is that it would actually be thematically consistent with the branding, though, since Ford Motor company owned and still owns a stake in Mazda and they have a long history of collaborative vehicle projects from around that time period.

Your car looks fantastic it is great to see you with an RX7 that works I guess it's about a year since I've last seen you with a working rotary motor RX7 we all know how rare that is 😂😂 I am confident though , you will figure out how to make these motors worth having other than just being different.
