One of the most revealing and most challenging of Jesus's commands... 1 John

This week we talked about 1 John 3:11-18 and the featured command in verse 11...to love one another. It's a command from Jesus in John 13:34-35 and one of the distinctive ways we recognize someone who is following the Way of Jesus.
Even though it's a command given from the beginning, and it's one continually repeated, it is one command that we often find quite difficult to live out, especially with those who don't give anything back in return.
What practical step of loving someone do you need to take today? Asking, or giving, forgiveness? Reaching out with a kind word? Helping someone in need? Serving someone with no expectation of receiving anything in return?
This call to love one another is a call to humility, sacrifice, and surrender. Thankfully we don't do this on our own but through the power of the Holy Spirit in us and the example Jesus set before us!
