    Hi David, thanks for the easy explanation. I was following you step by step but mistakenly I pressed the rear brake lever and now the piston moved to the farthest outermost position (almost no gap between the disc rotor and the piston), hence making it impossible to slide the new brake pads into their position. Could you please tell me how to move the piston back to its innermost original position so that I could install the pads.
    Thanks

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  Рік тому

      Yes - caliper and disc should burn your fingers after heavy or repeated braking - a lot of friction is involved. If you watch videos of racing vehicles in the dark the disc will glow red hot.

    Do you still have the duke 390's stock side mirrors, can you shorten it for ease in lane filtering, cause the stock height gets easily caught on trucks and vans side mirror. Can you make a tutorial on how to best do it. Informative vids by the way😁

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks, much appreciated. There is never a single perfect placement for mirrors - too high and they catch van mirrors, below the handlebars and they catch car mirrors, depending on your body shape they may just show your elbows etc and on the Duke, they hit the tank and fairings. I have a set of mirrors I bought for just this purpose - but it will require welding so I'm still figuring out the design - there are some mirrors which would do the job perfectly but they are very expensive.

    Hey David I really need your help how can I reset the piston if it’s really pushed out

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  Рік тому

      This is why you rock the caliper before removing, but even so sometimes you need more. If your piston is pushed out it sounds like the lever was moved with the caliper removed. You can get special pliers and tools to push the piston back. In an emergency get one or more pads back in and lever against the pad (pad against piston) to push the piston back in. If it needs cleaning it can be stiff to push back in.

    • @MotoMirius

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  Рік тому

      If you have pumped them back up with the lever so they move forward against the disk then they will work - you must remember this step, but it only takes a few pumps. If this is not happening then you need to check and see what is wrong.

    How do you push the piston in please

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  2 місяці тому

      Unbolt the caliper and rock it backwards and forwards so that the pads are pushed back by the disk. If you've already removed the caliper, with the old pads in place, lever them apart with a pry bar of some sort - a large screwdriver can work.

    • @MotoMirius

      They were on mine and others have said the same. It may depend where you live. Easy to check - just pull a pad and see if there are flecks of a brassy metal in the pad.

    Tell me, is the tire tubeless or with a tube? Is the MICHELIN STREET RADIAL 150/60R17 tire suitable?

    • @MotoMirius
      @MotoMirius  5 місяців тому +1

      Cast wheels are tubeless. If you are unsure about a tyre, go to the manufacturer website and they will have a tyre guide which lists the tyres that fit your bike. So Michelin for example recommend the PILOT POWER 2CT. The Street will fit the rim so you can use it, but it's not what Michelin recommend for the bike as it is a more general purpose tyre and Michelin (and most other manufacturers) recommend a sports tyre for this bike.
