    Started using Motion and really impressed with the app, it does feel like you have an assistant. Doing tasks is less pressure than trying to reschedule things if you miss something or get pulled in a different direction. What I would love to see with Motion is full natural language support for entering tasks like Toodist.

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  4 місяці тому +2

      Awesome to hear that has been your experience as well, yeah, they are doing something quite special and unique in the space! Speaking of which, I had a task I needed to do, but I just got sidetracked responding to this comment, but I feel fine about that because it'll recommend I work on it next when I go back to Motion later 😁
      Totally hear ya on the full NLP adding task support-they had actually experimented with this 5-6 months ago or so, it used AI to take things a layer deeper, but they seemed to roll it back because it ultimately wasn't consistent enough (OpenAI & Anthropic need a bit more time it seems to have more than 85% consistency or so).
      Guessing it's on the roadmap, it just seems like when they do it, they want to do it in a more helpful way than just copying what Todoist currently does. Also keep in mind that Motion has quite a few additional options here as well (e.g. workspaces, projects, hard deadlines, start dates, schedules, and statuses, not to mention custom fields coming as well). Haven't seen a proper project management tool handle NLP of adding tasks yet, thinking more of these task management tools like Todoist can do this because they are quite a bit more restrictive in the number of options/workspaces/projects/fields.
      Curious, do you use Motion solo? Or with a team? 👀

    • @socialwill
      @socialwill 4 місяці тому

      @@efficientapp I just started solo, my team would be small like 1-2 additional people, we have tried so many apps such as asana, and they look great but I was always frustrated by my need for personal and work tasks and not in the same app. Plus asana would like you do communicate and use eveything as a project, where individual tasks felt more like an afterthought.
      We have been using Todoist but while it does tasks very well, it does not do projects or keeping track of all of your tasks across all projects very well. So many times I would have a list of things to do in my Inbox I forgot about or various tasks that are left alone in projects due to not having a date assigned.

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  4 місяці тому

      Sounds just like us actually! Same exact scenario we went through, including Asana (and TickTick instead of Todoist).
      Completely agree with your Asana sentiment-did you happen to see our Motion Tutorial actually? efficient.yt/motion as we go into our similar experience with Asana 😅
      I'd say Motion is a good mixture between Todoist and Asana (while adding in a proper calendar tool like Sunrise calendar-R.I.P.)
      Motion has some pretty wicked project improvements coming soon it seems, but they are clear in that a task should really be more of a project (and have the TLC at the task level), and projects can be more used to just enhance tasks, enabling them to shine more, versus making them overshadow tasks like that of Asana. Super excited for what's to come!

    Hey, great video - I bought Motion and really like using it. I only wish there would be a way to add a color to a project and its tasks. You mentioned that Motion is rolling out features fast, do you know if or when that is coming? Also a way to change the language of the booking page would be nice

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  4 місяці тому +2

      Hey Jan! Glad to hear it's working well for you!
      Regarding changing the language of the booking page, I'd be surprised if that's planned at all, but I will say that 99.9% of browsers automatically translate the language upon visiting a page in a different language, so curious how important something like this is since it should already be solved at a browser-level?
      Good point regarding the project/task colors, for right now I think they are more reserving task colors for the actual status of the task, but I'm sure in time they will invest more into additional customization. We haven't particularly heard of this request before. Are there any other project management tools out there that allow for this?

    • @bluebellwild
      @bluebellwild Місяць тому +3

      Totally agree with the color issue. I like the functionality, but for people who find visual cues helpful the lack of color and many of the other design elements are turn offs.

    For college students, would motion work better for class schedule alongside assignments and deadlines or would Reclaim work better?

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  Місяць тому +1

      Good question! Reclaim is much more basic than Motion. If you have a full schedule and have multiple things to juggle, I'd say Motion is overall better because you can manage your entire schedule within Motion. It's a full calendar + task manager + you can even organize different classes as projects with multiple tasks.
      Reclaim is just a layer on top of your calendar, so you'll still be using Reclaim + your calendar. I'd only consider Reclaim if you have maybe 1-2 assignments and deadlines and really only need a "light" version of task management. Otherwise, 100% Motion.

      Reclaim (if you decide to go with it): efficient.link/r/reclaim

    Great review. If someone is an Apple at home person, Windows at work will Motion play nice with Apple AI do you think? (Or speculate?)
    I’d like to keep these two systems independent of one another but want them to get along. Not have one pull an Ultron and kill Jarvis.. 😊

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  Місяць тому +3

      Oh gosh, I have no idea because no one even knows what Apple AI will truly be, because it's slated for what, 2025? 🙈
      Quick guess is that yes, Motion will play well because they are investing quite heavily into the apple ecosystem, e.g. Motion works with Siri, they have a great phone widget, etc.
      When Apple AI does come, I'm sure they will be all over it. And you can connect your work calendar + your personal calendar to Motion, so that part should already be handled.
      The best way to know in the short term is to give it a try though and see for yourself with the current Apple features/integrations that Motion already has: efficient.link/r/motion

      Not planning a video like that anytime soon, we're more planning on creating more software/app comparison content primarily for businesses and teams. Sometimes that overlaps individuals, if that makes sense? Sorta like the Calendar video we just released.

    But can you run detailed reports to see where each team member has spent their time on for a specific period of time? Like a timesheet. And, can it connect to Outlook calendar and Teams?

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  12 днів тому +1

      Motion doesn't currently allow for detailed timesheets, you'd probably be better with a standalone time tracking app like Harvest in that case: efficient.app/apps/harvest
      That said, Motion does connect with Outlook Calendar and allows you to pick Google Meet/Zoom/I'm sure Teams because it does connect with Outlook, and even if not, they allow you to have a "custom" option to which you can enter a teams link.
      Your best bet would be to just give it a shot to see if it can do what you're hoping it can, here's a free trial: efficient.link/r/motion

      Motion is SOC2 compliant, which is one of the highest enterprise software security standards. All of these tools are completely cloud-based though if that makes sense. But yes, Motion is very secure.

      @efficientapp Thanks for the quick reply, that's helpful, thank you! I've been looking for the right tool to replace/ upgrade me from Todoist, but unable to find a suitable "project manager" where I can have ALL my projects with AI to help manage my task priorities every day since I spend so much time just doing that alone. Maybe this will do the job. I'm going to look into it more. Thanks for your help! Your channel is on another level of excellence! 😀

    Hi Andra and Alex. Love your review so much, although I signed up for Motion already (before knowing about/watching your videos about Motion), but i am still within the trial period. I have already input some of my projects. I am HIGHLY interested in your Motion course, but I don’t want redo the data migration if I setup a new motion account through your link.
    Is there a way you guys work with motion to qualify my own signup as a signup through your link? Thanks so much

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey Linda! Appreciate the kind words 🙏
      Totally understand your situation, and we definitely don't want you migrating data to do that.
      The difficulty here is that Motion gives us a small kickback when someone signs up with our link, and that's why we give the course away for free. It's essentially Motion indirectly paying us for the course for you.
      So we won't be able to work with Motion to get credit for your sign up. That said, we're trying to figure out what to do for people in the same boat as you, we're also still working on filming the course, so it's still a ways away because we want to include the new features like Flows in it that we're currently testing out.
      Thinking maybe we give a discount for you and people in your situation, we just need to have a think about it! The best way to stay up-to-date on this though will be through our newsletter: efficient.link/subscribe
      We'll let people know what we have planned, just need to think a bit more about it.
      The best way to get the course and for us to make an exception honestly is to just engage with us on our UA-cam channel in the meantime. If you subscribe, are liking videos, and we see you in the comment section regularly on our videos, I don't think either Andra or I would have it in us to not do something nice for someone supporting us here 😉😉🥹☺️

    Why not Taskade on this list? Seems like it has huge potential with it trainable agents and hundreds of prebuilt agents for all kinds of functions including task management.

    • @efficientapp
      @efficientapp  3 місяці тому +2

      We wouldn't consider Taskade a "Time Management" tool, as there's a very specific category niche this video was meant to serve. Taskade is trying to be an all-in-one tool and leverage various AI tools across the board. We're more focused on reviewing and comparing highly focused tools that do one thing incredibly well and have clear business use-cases. We're a bit skeptical as to Taskade's approach. They seem a bit overwhelming and lost at the moment, but think they might have something cool with a bit more focus. Nonetheless, Taskade doesn't at all fit in this category, so that's why it's not on the list.

      We went quite a bit deeper on the Motion Tutorial here: efficient.yt/motion than we were expecting, so we've been working on using Motion's new Flows features in beta and more, so that the course is actually an update to the tutorial we have publicly. We're just wanting a few more features to be released before doing the full recording and edit to the course so that people get the most value from it. Probably a couple months off.
