Shoes
+Nativefishkeeper168 cool
sick dude :P
+Nativefishkeeper168 haha they're ascics tennis shoes
pound for pound stripers and hybrids fight way stronger than any largemouth. a 1 lbs striper will make you think you have a 5lb bass on the line
Never seen a hybrid before. is that a cross with Imb or smb?
+James Sheehan a hybrid is a cross between a white bass and a striper
+Texas Bassin ah thank you. I don't know of any place that stocks hybrids in California. Lots of places to catch regular stripers though.
Smallies
Colorado has a really healthy population of them in a few lakes I've seen little guys snap 20 pound braid they are beasts
hybrid-striped bass. sometimes landowners stock them with other fish. especially if there are shad in it
+Jeremiah Giles Yes, they are certainly available. Hank Parker has a pond with them. He aerates it and stocks it with shad. They're hungry and when they're biting they'll kill it. Also can't reproduce, so if you decide you want the pond for other species, just catch and keep them until they die out. Or you could stop stocking the forage species.
A man's last cast is like a woman's 5 more minutes. lol
+Kevin Vue lol, love the analogy xD
Awesome video man love coming back to these older videos, you have amazing content absolutely love watching you fish
Great video Mike, keep em coming.
Where I'm from, it's common to see bigger fish in small bodies of water. People like hoarding fish. They go to big bodies of water, catch the fish, and dump them into ponds so that they can catch them again later. Probably not very good for the fish, though. There's a reason why hybrids are stocked into large bodies of water.
Last cast 10 times, sounds like me when I go fishing.. Haha. Nice vid
yep exactly
That is a wiper (hybrid striped bass) not a striper. They fight super hard! I target them frequently in CO. Nice catch man
That's was awesome stuff Mike !!!
Hey man, nice video. Where can I find your tournament schedules? Do you have any near the New England Area?
+Fred 3344 watch all my vids I announce my tournament during giveaway videos, I may have one there in the future!
1Rod1ReelFishing Okay thanks, keep it up with the vids!
Fred 3344 of
Fred 3344
That second one looked like dinner to me.
Great vid bro keep up all the hard work!
Good video like always mike hoping to see you hit 100k subs soon!!!
+Jake Coville thanks for watching bro! And I hope so to! xD
I rolling with the hybrid striped bass...They are like a Pike and a predator fish...They will clean out a number of small fish in a short period of time...They cant reproduce either so there probably isn't many in there...Nice catch brother...
If you ever take a trip to the midwest 20 pound stripers are common in missouri
+TheSniper1918 True that!
ayye i live in Missouri, just east of kc
+TheSniper1918 20lbs is average size in Arkansas! Last year at Bull Shoals Lake a guy caught a 65 lb striper from the bank!
saw a picture of that fish it was a monster i dont think they stock bull shoals so whats there is bigger
+TheSniper1918 He doesn't have to go that far to catch huge stripers. The Chesapeake Bay is one of the best, if not the best, striped bass fisheries in the country.
Nice fish and video mike !
been stuck in a damn airport for 4 hours now and when I saw that you uploaded the striper vid literally made my day. just told a couple friends to watch it cause we all love your vids. keep up the work I'll get back to you when we get a few vids on our channel!!!
+Easton Pilipchuk sorry to hear about the airport delay. But glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing it, I appreciate the support! :D
do a cooking video lol
+Ouis Sandy hahaha :P
+1Rod1ReelFishing So much money spent on a fishing gears and fishing license to be catching and releasing fish?? I would've kept that hybrid stripper for dinner if i was in your shoes.. Am more of a CNE type of fisherman than a CNR. No offense, just saying..
+1Rod1ReelFishing that was a whitebass
+Jerum Distura I usually feel like that but when you catch a giant there is something to them that makes ya want to throw em back
Rods n' Rounds Yea i know exactly what you mean but I've seen hybrids way bigger than that. Biggest one i would definitely return since it could be a potential breeding size. But a hybrid of that average size, come on??.. I would've just kept it and ate it..
You and Emily got back together???
+Kayak fisherman haha yeah
+1Rod1ReelFishing not trying to be noisy or anything but what happened
+1Rod1ReelFishing what happened??
Nope she with me 😘
seaside 420 no they are married and have a child
This was awesome mike!
i remember you talking about this pond in an earlier video and u said there was a rumor of stripers! great video!
+Pennsylvania Outdoorsmen can't believe the rumors were true! :D
Me either!
Snapchat brought me here
Same
UA-cam brought me here
Hate to be that guy but I'm pretty sure thats a nice big white bass, not sure its a striper, look very simular
Could just be a hybrid
Lol nice, if it is a hybrid the pond is definitely stocked
+Justin Rees It's a hybrid. Striped bass have lines, hybrids have lines that are broken, as you see in the video at 2:39 and white bass have no lines or much less visible gray lines. White perch are simply white. That's a good way to discern what you catch.
+Justin Rees its a hybrid
Justin Rees the hybrids are mix of the stripers and the white bass.
Great video. keep up the good videos and fishing. Sick catch. one of my fav fish you've caught is the double fish on one hook at florida beach! EPIC!!! :)
+vBrookseyy thanks for watching bro, I appreciate the support! And that was the only time I've ever caught 2 fish on one cast xD
A lot of people stock hybrid striped bass in there ponds. In a few of our farm ponds we stock them. They are one of the most exciting fish to catch
Cool stuff love your videos!
Great video as always
Nice striped bass we use to catch those a lot in Louisiana but haven't caught any in a while keep the videos coming
Sweet video man!
I saw the fist bump that time....LOL! Nice fish...back at ya!!!
+UA-camFISHINGVIDS Lmao! It's almost impossible for anglers to keep up with my fist bump quota :P
Nice video bro love ur vids
another great video as always.
Awesome catch man
That was awesome dude!!!
hybrid-striped bass....that's very rare to catch one in a pond.
That's awesome catch!
+Ich Phan thanks bro! I was stoked when I pulled that up xD
fantastic!!! You should do a striper tutorial, baits that you would use and the ideal places you would target for stripers in rivers, and lakes. It would give us new open ideas to fishing for stripers.
+Tou Yang great idea, I'll def do a striper tutorial sometime in the future!
Love it!!
That was a great catch. I remember I went catfishing at a local pond using hotdogs and something was pulling my line and I got it to the shore and it was about a 2 pound striper I was in shock haha.
I was fishing the Gwynns Falls in Southwest Baltimore last May. Ended up catching 4 half pound juvenile stripers in that stream, alongside about a half dozen rock bass, a dozen smallmouth and around ten redbreast sunfish. Those juvenile stripers were quite a surprise catch for me.
wow a striper in a golf course pond! I think someone may have transfered the striper into that pond but that's awesome!!!
you inspired me to go fishing, good videos!
👊👊 Man if I pounded knuckles every time you caught a fish my hand would hurt, your're a fishing machine. LOL Love your videos and the info. Thank you!!! You can tell you really love the sport.
+Lamont Hunt hahaha, thanks for watching, and ur absolutely right, there's nothing I love more than fishing!! (sorry emily :P)
Wait till you get a 30+ lb striper, now that's a fish. Great video, I was real surprised to see that hybrid
Nice Video..Keep up the good work.I love watching your videos..I like when you do the distance shot that way we can see your full technique when you cast and set the hook..
+Marvin Jerez Jr. thanks for watching! I just got a tripod so I'll try to do more third person shots in the future!
+1Rod1ReelFishing sounds good..I been watching your videos for a while and I love your channel.
love the excitement over that striper! I would've freaked out too!
I have caught a couple hybrid stripers in one of our local ponds with a topwater. Cool stuff good job.
It's a hybrid striped bass, and that is a very large hybrid but we do stock hybrids in large ponds and small lakes here in Texas so they probably do it up there as well
man your channel blew up I subscribed to you when u only had like 100 lol good job
+Joseph Middleton haha wow thanks for being one of my most loyal subs! xD
+1Rod1ReelFishing no prob we live close togather maybe we can go fish sometime
Dude thats a sweet striper! P.S LOVE UR VIDEOS
+Chris Schrand haha thanks for watching bro, I appreciate the support!
That is freaking sweet! Love how hybrids fight
answered like a true fisherman lol
What, thats nuts! nice striper Mike.
Catching hybrid bass is so fun. They fight so much harder than largemouth. a 1 lb striper fights like a 4lb largemouth. The best thing about hybrids is when you catch one you're probably gonna catch several of them in a flurry
Great video, will there be a subscriber tournament in North Carolina
Hybrid stripers are a lot of fun, I catch those a lot out at lake Pinchot out here in PA, when they hit a school of baitfish man its like someone threw a bowling ball in the water.
For anybody out there that doesn't know what a hybrid is it's a striped bass mixed with a smallmouth bass in the way you can tell is because of one the smallmouth into the black lateral lines are not completely straight
That's really cool i've caught a 25lb striper at elephant butte lake and they will fight to the bitter end. Even the smaller hybrids fight like crazy super fun to catch idk why they aren't that popular for fishing.
@1Rod1ReelFishing love your videos man. You are one of my favorite UA-camrs. The reason you are seeing so many in that same size range is due to the pond being overpopulated. I'm a huge advocate of CPR, but that pond could use some culling and it would be a gem!
+Noah Rodriguez thanks for the support bro! and great point on the overpopulation, I'll def recommend some culling to the owners who manage the pond!
Thanks for the entertainment! Looking forward to seeing your part 2 of you taking your "non-fishing" buddies out! Keep up the good work.
That's a huge hybrid. Great job from a pond
One way to tell a hybrid from a striper is that a hybrid is more the shape of a bluegill, while the striper is more of a torpedo shape, like a largemouth bass. Just because the lines are broken it doesnt mean its a hybrid.
Mike u should make an intro part at the beginning of your videos! That would be awesome!
In Delaware we got a place called Lums pond with largemouths, hybrid stripe bass,bluegill,crappie,pike/pickerel and catfish
just fished there with a buddy of mine a few days ago. had to keep going back to the vending machine. which had week old dead shiners for sale.
keep up the good work :)
Come down to Georgia ! Awesome bass fishing , and others as well!
That is what I like about your videos , you can tell you really love to fish . I see a lot of the other youtubers mainly talking to much . I want to tell them shut up and go catch a fish , lol
+FamilyMann thanks for the comment, and you're 100% right, there's nothing I love doing more than fishing xD
what golf course was that in md? If you dont mind if i new because i dont know really good spots in somd
there are some ponds in my backyard that ONLY have striper, its fed in from the cali delta though lol
that is truly badass catching a hybrid out of a pond!
+Chet Chhoeun one of my favorite pond catches this year!
fishing for hybrids in current when a spillway is running is the most fun time ever
nice fishing dude big stripe 😀😀😀😀
Wipers (hybrid striped bass) are one of the toughest fish in the moronidae family. At NC State university there are many pond that are stock with them for research and other usea. Wipers are just a few moronidae fish family that can survive in ponds or small lakes.
2:30 that iridescence on the back. Beautiful fish
+Plato Jones prettiest fish I've ever caught from a pond xD
Favorite UA-camr right here
+Sporkz Games (xXmuskego40Xx) thanks for the support bro!
There's a bunch of lakes in Nevada that have fish like strikers but we have a striper and white bass hybrid we call whipers
Wow that's crazy, I caught a sturgeon out of my farm pond in Iowa, I found out that my uncle had stocked it there the year before.
Awesome videos bro, good stuff (air pound)
+Manuel Cabrera haha thanks bro!
Mike! You need to come to California!! Come fish at the CA Delta & The CA Aqueduct!!!
Excellent way using the gripper to help weigh it rather then poking it I admire that Lot 👍👍👍
+William Coder thx bro, the gripper definitely helps with safe catch and release!
That's funny. in my area you have no chance finding a hybrid. it's either Large mouth in freshwater even in the river or stripers in the saltwater. that's cool
hey man not sure if its unlikely to encounter this up where you are located but down here in alabama it isn't uncommon to find stripers, hybrids, and white bass in ponds
your my favorite UA-cam fisherman of all time! maybe if your in the area like the Juniata or Susquehanna river in Pennsylvania we could fish sometime :D
+Outdoor Angling thanks for watching, I appreciate the support! I'll let you know if I'm ever around that area :D
That pause lure must me really good. The fish always hit it.
+Splendid Beastie its one of my favorite baits this time of year!
"Pound it bros". Pews wants his gimmick back lol.
+Aaron Knowles lmao :P
Nice catch on the striper! I am learning baitcaster recently. I wonder how do you deal with water that drip from the BC reel onto your hands? In this weather, my hands get cold and stiff pretty quickly from water dripped on them. Thanks!
+nrfool good question! it can definitely get pretty cool this time of year. One suggestion is to wear waterproof gloves, not too much you do about it unfortunately
One of these days you should come down to Cali and fish the California aqueduct/California delta for some striped bass and bass.
Thats incredible dude
I heard that big dog! Do your thing 1Rod1reel!
This video is awesome. That striped bass was amazing.
Nice striper in a pond never seen that before!
+Cody Johnson (Fishing) thanks for watching!
I believe these are known as "Wipers" atleast thats what they are back here in cali! A breed between a white bass and a striper.. Usually can tell by the broken stripes on the fish as to where stripers are straight lines lol.. Not sure but this fish has the same build to a wiper as well!
that striper is insane, someone must have released it there.Have any plans on a trip/tournament in the W. PA area?
+TWEEK1106 Nothing planned yet but I could definitely have one around there sometime next year!
Thanks a lot looking forward to it
1r1r awesome catch.
Amazing you should have a tournament in west southdakota
Hi i am kinda new to fishing and i was wonder what type of lure/rubber baits to use in the type of water that u were fishing in because were i fish it is the same water clarity and the water is about the same temps 40-50 degrees sometime little lower then 40 degrees also what should i look for when fishing for bass in lakes like were should i cast and stuff
+i_fingerboard11 Glad you picked up the best sport in the world! Got some awesome vids that'll def help u out, check out my top 5 winter baits and other lure tutorials found here! ua-cam.com/play/PLv3E4R_nowe0ShIWDAdJgmN05JIOVfxG_.html
Just a quick question, what knot do you like the best between the Palomar and the Uni knot? (When tying lures, no leader)
+Alan Honore Definitely have the most confidence in the palomar knot!
I see you using the twitch-twitch-pause technique pretty often. Do you use floating lures with this technique? Most, if not all of my crank baits and stick baits are floaters so I'm wondering if these are correct twitch-twitch-pause lures?
+Scott B I use either suspending or floating jerkbaits with this technique, suspending when the water is cooler and floating when the water is warmer
Great video
